Apple's subscription gaming service Apple Arcade is set to gain hit title Stardew Valley in July, Apple announced today. Stardew Valley+ will feature the same open-ended farming gameplay with more than 50 hours of content to get through, along with mobile-specific features like auto-save and various control options.

Most people have heard of Stardew Valley at this point, and it is available on the iPhone and iPad for $4.99, but the Apple Arcade version will be available to Apple Arcade subscribers at no additional cost.

Stardew Valley allows players to overhaul an abandoned, overgrown plot of land, turning it into a thriving farm complete with crops, animals, and more. Players will also be able to get to know the townspeople, solving villager quests and taking part in seasonal festivals.

There are caves to explore to fight monsters and gain treasure, and goods collected from crops and animals can be turned into artisan products that sell for more money. Other features include dating events, fishing ponds, clothing and hats to unlock, pets, and more, with the Apple Arcade version including all content from recent updates. Stardew Valley is set to launch on July 21.

Also coming to Apple Arcade in July is a new Hello Kitty simulation game called Hello Kitty Island Adventure (July 28), plus classics like Slay the Spire+ (July 7), LEGO DUPLO WORLD+ (July 7), and Ridiculous Fishing EX (July 14).

Apple Arcade is priced at $4.99 per month, with family members able to share a subscription. The service has more than 100 games, and new content is added on a regular basis.

Stardew Valley with no IAP’s? Well, I guess that makes it like the $4.99 version :)

One less barrier for entry to someone that already has Apple Arcade.

I hope there is controller support. The non-Arcade version says the last update had “Gamepad support improvements” but the store page doesn’t show controllers supported.

Stardew never had IAPs. One of the few good games that didn’t adopt the worse gaming plague to ever exist (thanks Apple.)

But Stardew for iOS has always been neglected…

Apple popularized micro-transactions and software subscriptions (the worst things to ever happen to software.)

But are we expected to just abandon Wylde Flowers when we still have a few people left without a maxed out friendship?!

The most astonishing part about the whole article is that “most people have heard of Stardew Valley at this point…”

Seems I am not most people
I’ve never played it, but I’ve heard of it and it’s incredibly popular apparently.

Edit: I looked it up, only 20 million downloads as of March 2022. Nbd

Between this and Stray, Apple is getting some good games lately on their platforms.

Butters: "But I don't play World of Warcraft."
Cartman <disappointed>: "Butters, you said you're on your computer all the time."
Butters: "Yea, I'm playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure."
Cartman: "Butters, go buy World of Warcraft, install it on your computer, and join the online sensation before we all murder you."
Butters <nervous>: "Ohhh ohh, alright... alright."

Will this one have multiplayer? iOS version was the only one that never got updated for that.

I wonder how things are going with the Haunted Chocolatier. It's been very quiet on that front for the last couple of years. Fingers crossed for next year!

“… at this point…”
Technically, at that point (in the sentence), you’d heard of it.

I mean, if you’re going to pick nits… 😜
