The pattern of Valve games released on Wednesdays goes: Single Player, NO VALVE GAME, Single Player... [NO VALVE GAME?]

Looks like Valve is releasing their games only every 2nd Wednesday and today just happened that no other Publisher released any game either.

I think TF2 was meant to be released on Wednesday, but obviously they were a little optimistic in their predictions, as it isn't ready.

Valve said that there would be new mac games every Wednesday, but it didn't seem to update this week. Am I missing something? I was Really looking forward to TF2.

No they didn't. They said after initial release they would release games for the next "few" wednesdays. The word "few" is not definitive. Nowhere have they promised to release games on the 2nd or any other time.

Yeah rbarris already confirmed 2 days ago that, I quote: "Mac TF2 has been awarded additional time." So no point in waiting for TF2 right now.

I think you misunderstood. I was pointing out that if Valve had released on time, your pattern would be void.

Alright. Yeah but they didn't release anything nor did they hint for it. The only hint people thought would be something is the (coming soon for Mac), but that is only on the product description because TF2 was sold with the Orange box which was released last week.

I personally think releasing games every 2 weeks makes more sense as a publisher. People will end up buying more games. Releasing the mac ports every week is too often and will result in people still playing the game from last week and not buying the new one.

Hm? We had new Mac release each week for the past three weeks. Last week we had the Half Life family. The week before was a bunch of 3rd party games. And the week before was a launch game.

So far they had stuck with new Mac games on Steam every week. This is the first break, and implies that TF2 was supposed to be yesterday.

I'm actually looking at it right now, and its been there for the past 2 weeks. "EACH Wednesday for the next FEW (This is where you got the few from?) weeks we will release a new set of games playable on Mac..."

Are you arguing or agreeing? If arguing would you care to define "few" for me? How many is a few?

Valve themselves announced that they were giving TF2 additional time. And for the record, I never heard any promise by Valve saying that there would be any new mac games every week - I cannot see how they can promise that.

Valve hasn't announced anything regarding to this week's Wed. A post by valve employee at Steam Forums != announcement by Valve. Not to mention that nobody knows for sure that TF2 was suppose to be this wed's release.

Also, the promise was this image that showed up last wed, not from the first week.

in store and in steam.

Also, we already have a thread about in the Mac Games forum. There's no reason for this thread. I'll report it to the mod to have it merged.

I'm not seeing anything new, which new non-steamplay product are you seeing?

I hope some third parties jump on the bandwagon and port their stuff. Once CS:S and TF2 are ported I think we've run out of Source games... :(

There'll be an announcement for Portal 2, possible HL2:Eps 3 at E3 this year (June 15-17).

Tf2

OK we've got progress. :) Just now Team Fortress 2 showed up in my games list however it is stuck in the "Download starting..." phase that CS:S Beta was stuck in for a few days. Nothing is actually downloading yet.

When I try to play I get the "Steam servers are too busy" error and switching to an overseas content server doesn't help.

The "steam servers too busy" error is a block placed to prevent you from downloading games that you don't have access to.

TF2 has been like that for weeks. Nothing new.

Actually I'm fairly confident that for most of us TF2 hasn't shown up in the games list at all. You'll find complaints/confusion over that issue throughout the forums here. TF2 showing up at all on the Mac side is definitely something "new" for me.

It's just a bug in steam. I had it listed in my games for weeks and it appears and disappears a couple of time on me.

The problem is probably related to the fact there there are people beta testing the TF2 on Macs and Steam sometime get confused who has access and who don't.

No I agree with you. The consensus is precisely that, it has been entirely absent from the games list to prevent people from constantly trying to launch it while still in beta.

The fact that it has now shown up for me for the first time is why I consider it progress toward a release.

CS:S Beta was also absent from my list on Mac until just the other day, despite the fact that I am in the beta on the Windows side. It took about two days but despite numerous "too busy" errors it has now completed and is playable.

Portal was released around 3-4 weeks ago, it was the first game to be released on Mac. Right now, there is HL2, and subsequently Episode 1 and 2 for HL2. We all though TF2 would be released yesterday, we gots hosed.

Sorry, I meant the exact dates. Call me picky, but I'm somewhat confused.

Portal was released on launch day? May 12.
From what I could tell, HL2 was released on May 26... what about May 19?
And then yesterday, TF2 was supposed to be released (?) but got delayed, which leads me to two games in four wednesdays?

I'm sure I'm wrong somewhere... could somebody point it out?

You're right. There were no Valve games released on the 19th. On the 26th, HL2 and EP1 and 2 were released. Of TF2, Rbarris of Valve said the other day that "additional time has been added," possibly indicating that TF2 was going to come out this Wednesday but was delayed.

May 19th was the day we realized they never promised Valve games every Wednesday, just new games. Here is the list of what was released that day:

June 2 was the day we realized they didn't mean every Wednesday. :D
