It's Steam Summer Sale time.

I'm going to start with Portal 2 and spend some of my summer vacation playing some video games.

I've got a load of games I want, but I'm waiting till the last minute to pick them up. Damn this sale and it's quirky KEEP COMING BACK tricks.

I picked up Trine 2 at 50%, d'oh.

My steam won't even load the store.

I read somewhere that steam runs much better on Mac but this is not my experience at all, while it is buggy on pc too it seems much worse for me on mac. It's only really the store that tends to be buggy mind you, all the in game stuff is good.

Yeah the Steam client for Mac is really badly buggy.

I picked up Gary's Mod and the Commander Keen pack, which was $2!

Not for me! It sometimes stops rendering the browser window entirely. I can hover over links and the cursor will change and can still click them, but I just don't know what I'm clicking on.

Just picked up Hitman: Blood Money.

Quick question: anyone played the Walking Dead series on a 320m? I really like the graphic novels and want to give it a shot. I don't mind if it doesn't run perfectly, but I don't want to waste my cash. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks!

I am grabbing some sweet deals for native Mac games on Steam today.

Frozen Synapse is only 5 bucks.
Two Worlds II is only 10 bucks with the expansion included!
All three Sam and Max seasons for just $12.50 - the last two seasons are Mac native. Season 1 I'll need to run with Parallels or bootcamp but that is okay.

Anybody bought one of those indie games bundles? Any good?

I have. With the current bundle (III), the only game I can vouch for is Braid. It's wonderful. If you see any of the following in a bundle, you can't go wrong with them, they're fantastic in every sense:
-Trine
-World of Goo
-Swords & Sworcery
-Limbo
-Anomaly
-Braid
-Machinarium
-Osmos

Have fun!

----------

Looks like it's going to be Legend of Grimrock for me today . . . $5.99? Seriously? Wow!
I've been waiting for a Mac client on this one, but the devs have yet to deliver and at this price, I'll just run it in WINE until the native version comes out.

The damage so far-

Serious Sam Legend of the Beast DLC
Serious Sam 2
Serious Sam 3 Deluxe Upgrade
Killing Floor - Harold Lott Character Pack
Killing Floor - Urban Nightmare Character Pack
Magicka Lonely Cruise DLC
Civ V Korea DLC
Civ V Wonders of the Ancient DLC
Civ V GOTY
The Witcher 2
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
Ys Origin
Razor2 Hidden Skies
Alan Wake American Nightmare
Alan Wake CE Extras
The Walking Dead
From Dust
Satazius
Trine 2

Holding out for-

Crysis 1 and 2 (since they upped the install limits on Crysis 1 from 5 to 50)
Mortal Kombat Kollection
Pineapple Smash Crew
Fortune Summoners

Awesome thanks. I'll look out for them.

Does anyone know how the sales affect developers? Do they eat the price cuts or does Valve? It's pretty great marketing, everyone's spending way more money than they ordinarily would.

Another question, anyone played Metro 2033? I loved the Moscow underground train stations, so ornate, but it's looks like a zombie shooter type game, so I'm not sure how much focus on architecture there is.

It runs perfectly. Get it now while it's 40% off.

I experienced a few bugs here and there (certain text appears garbled), but I'm on 10.8 already and that might be why.

Developers eat the price cuts, but they more than make up for it in volume. And, of course, it is their decision if their game goes on sale and how much.

It's a shooter, but it's an incredibly atmospheric one. I enjoyed it.

Couldn't resist Batman: Arkham Asylum and Tropico 4 today.

I think I'm going to grab The Darkness II and The Walking Dead next.

I'm trying to buy some games, but I keep getting a message saying "There was an error trying to initialize this transaction. Please wait a few minutes and try again."

Waiting doesn't do anything. Anyone else getting this?

Thanks for the heads up. Annoyingly, I'm going to miss today's 40% off, but I'm sure it'll come round again, I'll add it to the list. Thinking about Darkness 2 as well...

So far I've got Hitman, Bioshock 1&2 and Deadspace 2. Nice to be playing some games again after a few years out. Really enjoying Bioshock, it has a beautifully realised universe so far.

so far I didn't buy any game yet because most blockbuster is own by myself. saint row the third is still attempted. but I will keep an eye on sale until 22nd.

damn sale, i don't get paid to till the 25th, so , buy games and don't eat for a week, or miss out on great offers, oh the humanity

Are you ordering from a country outside of the county of your account? I have a US Steam account and in te past few days, I've has to change the residency option to Korea and the Philippines because I kept getting that error. Evidently, Steam checks the country of your IP.

That's most likely what it is. I had to VPN back to the States to buy things from the US Steam store this past weekend.
