Oh good. Maybe I'll actually complete them this time. My PC kept on burning last time i tried.

Cool. I look forward to seeing my macbook explode.

Anyone got any idea when I can begin downloading and playing?

Not too much longer i hope. Im really digging the updates that they have been doing on Portal as well. Almost every time i fire up Steam theres an update for bugs/glitches etc. Looks like they trying to keep on top of things as much as they can

Wonder what game this is gonna be? Although I thought they released cross-platform multiplayers last week :/

I am wondering if my old retail disk might be of any use for speeding up the download.

I am wondering if my old retail disk might be of any use for speeding up the download.

My magic 8 ball says... "Unlikely". Sorry but the binaries on our old disks are for the DirectX version of these games and the Source engine has changed radically since release for use with this new fangled OpenGL stuff.

Interestingly Half Life 1 was written in OpenGL to start so why its never been released on Mac before is quite beyond me, though it may be something to do with the physics engine.

I wonder if they'll be releasing HL2 Deathmatch as well? That was an outstanding game before TF2 and L4D came along and dragged everyone away from it.

If you want to save time you can go ahead and download it now before the servers get hit. It's the game files without the Mac executable. Then when it officially comes out it'll just be a small download.

Gotta love Steam's servers--download took ten minutes!

Actually it was ported to OS 9 but never released. Sierra was publishing it but didn't want to devote the money necessary to support it as fully as the PC version, so Valve canned it.

Cause Gabe stopped the port when it was mostly finished.

We can purchase orange box in anticipation of tf2 right?
Yup, but they'll probably have a sale on for TF2 as well so it might end up costing more. Could be a good idea for those who missed out on the free Portal.

Half-life 2 with 2 episodes cost £4.89 + £4.19 + £4.19 = £13.27. Orange box costs £16.99. So unless TF2 is going to be £3.72 or lesser, it is be cheaper to purchase Orange Box. Or am I missing something here?

Bundle are always cheaper than buying them separately. That's the whole point.

It has been cheaper. TF2 has been on sale for £2.50 in the past, though only for a couple of hours.

So is this it for this week? No third party games?

Great, five minutes after i purchase orange box for £16.99, it is discounted to £11.89. Whats more, it crashed while it was preparing the files for download, and I don't see tf2 in my library. And if I'm not mistaken, TF2 should show up in my library grayed out right?

TF2 won't be in your library. Its not out yet.

You can email steam and get a refund if you want to try that route.

I'm new to Steam. Does anyone know if we buy the Orange Box what happens if you already own a game like Portal? We got Portal for free on Mac so if buy the Orange Box would they allow a substitution or is it just wasted money?
