As the title states, this thread is for discussing the weekly deals and pre-orders from Valve's Steam PC game store.

If you pre-order Bioshock 2, it's 10% off and you get the original Bioshock for free. Can also save on a 4-pack.

I was thinking about getting the 4-pack if I could get three other people to go in on it with me. It'd be $33.75 a person for Bioshock 1 & 2. If anyone's interested PM me.

Really the only thing I'm waiting on is to see if it has SecuROM activation limits. It looks like it doesn't, but there hasn't been a conclusive answer yet.

Also, the Company of Heroes Complete Pack is the weekend deal.

Found a good gameplay video here.

Actually, Bioshock is the WORST DRM GAME YET!

If you buy retail - you get SecuROM, Online Activation through Games for Windows Live, Required GfWL Bloatware install, and Limited Activations. GfWL is *required* to be running and logged in to SAVE YOUR GAME!

If you buy Steam - you get SecuROM installed but not used, Steam DRM, , Online Activation through Games for Windows Live, Required GfWL Bloatware install, and Limited Activations. GfWL is *required* to be running and logged in to SAVE YOUR GAME!

If you are only playing Single Player you can use an offline profile for GfWL as you could with Fallout 3, Batman, RE5, Red Faction and so on ... but I also assume that means that (unlike Dragon Age) if you are *online* you won't be able to access your saves (i.e. they don't replicate).

I really can't believe that 2K has learned NOTHING from the backlash over the original Bioshock and has rewarded their good sales by tightening the screws and treating their customers like crooks more than any other company. Good job!

When I played BioShock I didn't have to install Games for Windows Live, never used it, and have no account there. No problem saving my game either. /shrug

Crap ... I meant Bioshock *2* ... Bioshock 1 had activation limits and online activation required even for single player, but #2 is much worse.

As I understand it, Bioshock 2 does not require an internet connection to save a game. It will require a GFWL account, but you can create an offline profile (I did this in FUEL).

Edit: I see that you already posted this. I don't really understand how this is bad. I was under the impression that you could create multiple game profiles with one GFWL account.

Because what it says is ... Bioshock 2 *CANNOT SAVE GAMES* - you need to install a 3rd party utility that is known to have technical issues and be the worst gaming utility available.

Also, it requires you to expose personal information in order to be able to save a game.

Psychonauts is $2/£1 in the midweek sale. Of course I'm buying it right this second :). Never played it but only heard good things.

Although it's actually £2. They both have good Metacritic scores too (ones a 90%) so I'll probably get it.
X-Com series (£2 again) and Tropico 3 are also on sale.

Farcry 1+2 (with DLC) is currently £9.99. £2.50 for FC1, £7.50 for FC2 individually.

It says FC2 has install limit DRM but the Steam forums say it has been removed.

This thread has to DIE! It is costing me too much money buying games that I normally wouldn't buy. I have too many games to play and not enough time as it is! :D

Is this game any good? I've been looking around and seems like it's a good deal! I still haven't got through half the games I got in the Steam Xmas Sale!

I just bought Titan Quest Gold for $3.74, and Far Cry for $4.99. Another three games for less than $10, bought Freedom Pack for $2 and Alien vs Predator for $4.99 a few days ago. I love/hate Steam :D.

I love the Steam deals.. they are always so damn good, even if I've never heard of the games :p

Unfortunately they seem to hate me. BioShock 1&2 for $45, while I payed $20 for BioShock 1 less than six months ago, and plan on buying BioShock 2 from work for $41 (employee discount). They also reduced the price of Killing Floor to $5, after I had bought it for $20 three days earlier.
