i followed everything completely even the Total Commander part and it worked

but i have a problem when i turn on my iPhone i don't see a boot logo i did the custom boot logo too, is there a way to fix this?

that is because you keep the "custom boot logo" checked. there is a bug in quickpwn that if you choose to update the logo, it leaves it blank. if you unchecked that checkbox in quickpwn, you would retain the apple boot logo.

i made the same mistake. you can't fix it unless you create a new firmware using a winpwn or a new quickpwn program

After quickpwn ran, my 2g phone started to reset. However, it never loaded back up again. It is stuck at the loading screen with the apple, with the busy symbol spinning. Resetting it puts it right back into this state. I can not get out of it.

a little help

can you browse the filesystem with diskaid? do you have lots of apps installed?

Do I have to restore the iPhone to its original settings before I jailbreak?

Ok I now have a fully restored 3G iPhone 2.1 - I am in the UK on the 02 network (obviously) - I'm going to try and jailbreak it using the instructions at the top of this thread.

I'll document it fully to let you know how I get on....

3G 2.1 8GB UK iPhone DONE

Ok so i've pwned it and it works! Followed instructions down to the tee and it works perfectly... my only concern is that it took AGES to connect to the 3G network after the final reboot... not sure what thats about... probably just the massive flux of iphones constant appearing on the 02 network in central london!

Will continue testing and let you know how it goes...

btw im using vista business sp1

Installer error

Nothing major as still seems to work fine but when I accessed installer it told me it was out of date and required an update - and then said "error url not found"... still seems to work ok though...

Ha - after saying that went to view an application called "kate" and its totally crashed... hmmm.....

The phone never boots up to a state in which diskaid can detect and connect to it. I had about 20ish applications installed.
Last night I let it sit for several hours with the apple logo and loading icon. Nothing ever happened.

Okay - How hard is it for someone to just post a link to an already compiled Custom firmware so people can just DFU their phones and restore the firmware via iTunes 7.7? Why are we making people run and jump through hoops..

You can run and jump through hoops all you want if you need custom boot logos and what not or want to have a few apps pre-installed. I'll post up my custom firmware when I find a place to upload it to.

You guys KILL me with this crap...

If I've never pwned my iphone 3g before can I create a custom ISPW and then put the phone in DFU mode and restore in itunes with the custom firmware... or does pwnage need to do something to the phone first in order make it able to install a custom firmware?

People like making everybody "believe" there's something "real" going on in Pwnage that allows iTunes to restore custom firmware but this is not true.. all Pwnage is doing is shutting down the itunes services so that you don't have to.. in fact, i've left them running before and was still able to install a custom firmware file through iTunes. I'm not saying Pwnage is a waste of time, they allow the magic to happen by creating the custom IPSW firmware for you..

That being said, if you were able to download someone elses created firmware all you need to do is put your phone info DFU mode, close down iTunes, restart the Apple Mobile device service and open iTunes back up and it will detect that your phone is in restore mode... then select your custom firmware and there you go, you have a jailbroken iPhone.

This eliminates the need for quickown/pwnage all together.

The reason I used this method is because trying to Shift + Restore from DFU mode did not work. On two different computers, holding shift and clicking restore does not bring up the browse window. There are other people running into this on other threads as well. As a result I opted to jump through the hoops on this one and they worked. So for that I'm thankful. :)

Do I need to switch off my iPhone (3G) before i run quickpwn? And my iTunes 7.7 keep saying that the library was created in a newer version of iTunes and refuse to open and when i run quickpwn it says "Hashing IPSW" and then windows says "quickpwn.exe has stopped working". Is it because my OS is vista?

Any idea how to solve these problems?

Thanks in advance :)
