..., if you want porn.

From a Jobs' email, published by Wired:

"However, we do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy and [sic] Android phone."

So in other words you can't access porn on an iPhone or any other Apple products? Job's is such a douche and looking more and more detached from reality.

Unlike Apple, Google doesn't censor apps. You can download apps from various sites and marketplaces. Google doesn't care. It doesn't try to be your big brother.

Too bad there will only be one App Store on iPhone.

He's obviously referring to apps...

You need to look at the hypocrisy in Apple's policy, sure they cleaned up their app store but does that keep minors or anyone for that matter from accessing porn on an iPhone? Why not just go all the way and firewall from accessing any porn at all not only in the app store but from safari as well? The did a half assed job and are now boasting about their anti-porn policy:rolleyes: FAIL

Hey, don't give them any ideas, or the firewall will be next. :)

Well again that's Apple deciding what the consumer wants and likes.

What's the hypocrisy?

They don't want to sell porn. They're not selling porn.

That's it. There has to be some other action that contradicts that for there to be hypocrisy. What's that other action? All you have is a single fact.

(Now, there IS hypocrisy in banning swimsuit apps but leaving Playboy in the app store. But that's not what you're talking about so I can't use that argument to help you. You're gonna have to make your case using pure porn examples, which those are not.)

The did a half assed job and are now boasting about their anti-porn policy:rolleyes:

It doesn't seem half-assed. They don't want to sell porn. They don't sell porn.

That seems like the full ass to me. What part of that is 'half?'

They aren't deciding what the customer wants and likes, they are deciding what Apple wants to make and sell. If what Apple wants to make and sell doesn't meet what the customer wants or likes, then the customer should look else where for something they like and meets their needs. Simple

And if you ran a company you could decide what you wanted to make.

This can be solved so easily: Simply allow applications to be installed outside of iTunes. Apple can censor the iTunes store all they want and people can install applications that Apple doesn't approve such as adult oriented applications. Everyone wins.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Number 49 in the uk app store free app chart?
Sex positions free game.... 28,157 ratings....

Needs deleting Steve. ;)

If they allowed us to install apps outside of the app store this would not be an issue.

I think Steve's advice is really good for comments like this.

If that matters to you, why haven't you bought an Android phone? There's an entire platform out there that does exactly what you need! Instead of trying to make every smart phone exactly the same, why not be happy there are choices and simply buy the one you like best?

I don't think Google should make their phones more Apple-like. Why should Apple try to make their phones more Google-like?

Replace "porn" with "freedom" and that sentence still makes a lot of sense :p

"However, we do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep freedom off the iPhone. Folks who want freedom can buy and [sic] Android phone."

This argument that Safari is on the iPhone, so they are hypocrites, doesn't make any sense to me. Safari is a portal to the internet, if they were to censor anything on the internet, I'm pretty sure it might be illegal. The App Store is completely different, it was built closed. It was built so that Apple had all control of what goes in and out of it. It would be like making the argument to Best Buy that they should get rid of their DVD players because they don't sell pornographic DVDs.

Totally agree

Do I want to switch to android?

No

Might I switch to android because of freedom?

Yes

I don't need porn on my iPhone. If I get that urge at work, I just watch aggie's avatar.

Porn looks great on the iPad though.
