Dislike this very much, adults use iPhone OS as well as kids.
I can understand not wanting to sell the stuff( can have negative effects on their image), but my solution to this would be allow side loading for app for Android and S^1(and many other OSes)

Exactly. I'm fine with Apple controlling/censoring its own store IF they let users dl apps outside of the app store. The solution is so simple and obvious yet we all know Apple will never allow it.
Oh well, this is one of the reasons I sold my iPhone and move to Android. I honestly couldn't be happier. So much freedom.
Its not censorship as apple does not prohibit the dissemination of porn. They control what is available on their proprietary app store.
If you want pornography, you are free to access it by other means, including the android phone. Personally, I like apple's approach. You either need to buy into apple's walled garden completely or find an alternative.
Don't worry Steve, I'm closer to an android phone every day. Os4 will have to be amazing to keep me from buying an evo.
I've been there and i've returned the Nexus One.
I found the iPhone's touch screen to be better, apps to be much better. The non gmail email client is abhorrent, exchange support wanting, and the marketplace apps while increasing in volume to be lacking the the quality and polish of the itunes store.

U guys are being really dumb about this. If u dont like it, get another phone. I believe Jobs said "moral obligation;" which means he feels that porn is inappropriate for a device that HE SELLS! Not you! HE! If he does not want porn to reach the screen of HIS handiwork, he is perfectly entitled to that.

Exactly. What pissed me off was Apple's removal of GV Mobile (not the official app from google). Say what you want about censorship, but when Apple removed GV Mobile and refused the official Google Voice App, Apple showed its true color. This has nothing to do with morality, despite what people like to claim. I was perfectly happy with the App Store, but as Apple began to purge apps after apps in the name of morality, I decided this walled garden is not for me.
I agree Android apps are not as polished as iPhone apps. The Android facebook app sucks, period. Yet I have so much freedom on the phone that I can tolerate these less-polished apps.
If you are perfectly happy with the App Store and the way it's run, stay with Apple. It's like Disneyland. But if you want freedom and like to try different things outside of the walled garden, then give Android a shot. It may not be as polished, but hey, at least you will have choices.

Its really what u need. I am perfectly happy with the way Apple does things, so i will stay here. If u dont, go somewhere else.

That's one reason I didn't buy an htc hero. Don't get me wrong, I love my iPhone, but I don't like having big brother telling me what to do, and that dislike could be enough to push me away from apple. I'm not brand loyal, so it's no big deal for me to leave the fruit. I'm really just waiting for an HTC device that's refined enough to replace the I.

I'm 28 and know what porn is. What I am trying to say is what is the difference between thongs and other adult content in the app store and porn? So Steve thinks it is ok for kids to see chicks almost naked or really close to it yet no porn? I am not advocating porn for kids here, but it seems silly. They already have stuff in the app store that should not be seen by kids, why not expand it and restrict it better? Whats the difference? Get it?
While I see what you are getting at, I still think there is a HUGE gap between the two. That's like saying a guy with his shirt off is that same as a guy with his pants off. One is acceptable in public, the other is not.
