I walked right into the Roosevelt field apple store on long island at about 5pm. There was no line and i bought one in about 5 min.

You should have seen it earlier in the day. There was a very big line. Lines moved quick.

Actually, I am kinda wondering what Apples expectations are for the sales of the iPad. Remember how with the iPhone you could log on to apple.com and check local Apple store stock for the different models? I wonder why they are not setting up the same sort of thing for the iPad. Or maybe they will as more time goes on.

The University Village Apple store in Seattle was absolutely packed with people and buzzing at 6 pm tonight. It seemed people were still buying with a flurry. The display table was 5 people deep all the way around waiting for a chance to play with the device.

There's no way to spin today as a bad day for Apple.

Monterey, Ca Apple store is sold out. Store was packed and people on top of each other trying to play with the demo units. I just stopped by to watch, not to buy. I would like to have one, but will wait for the first refresh. I'm tired of being a beta tester.

Dover,DE best buy had them as of 5pm today. The folks that work there however shouldn't even be allowed in public. Horrible buying experience but great product.

They're clearly trying to make money off their geek squad service contracts. Seemed offended I quickly declined..

Actually, now that I think back, my Best Buy had plenty of iPads left, but no cases. Kind of disappointing because I was hoping to get a case with my iPad.

Was at the Apple Store in Monterey this morning before they opened. They had about 60 people in line, split between reserved and those waiting without a reservation. I had a 32GB reserved. Enjoyed the Starbucks and donuts they had for us. Great experience all around. First time I've bought an Apple product on opening day.

Well they started giving out the reservation passes for them at 9am to the people in line, so even though they didn't officially open until 10am, they had already given out all the reservation passes by 9:40am.

Finally, that makes sense. I guess I should change my last post to read "sales personnel are standing outside to take your order".;)

San Jose, CA - Curtner (Apple Store)

Just came from there.
They sold 25 16GB already. (Mostly all in the morning) Sold out.
16 - 32 GB
4 - 64 GB.

The store had 60 of them total. I played around with it for about 30 minutes. Truly enjoyed all the comments from the walking customers. (sarcasm)

I did enjoy the iMac though. I need a desktop and I think this will be it for me now. Going to take the wife to BB to check both the iPad and 21.5 iMac out.

3G...when will you be released.

60 at an apple store that seems way to low..

That's kinda to be expected right next to a major university. I wonder how the Bellevue Square store held up...

Wondering the same thing so far...

As I stated in other threads the Apple Tysons Store had all three at like 6:45PM :( Maybe not the seller Apple was hoping for :(

My take is many folks don't see the value in these hard times - it may come true on a post on the MT front page that Apple may drop prices...

In Salem NH (Apple Store) there were hundreds of people there. I'd be surprised if they didn't sell out, unless they had a huge allotment.

The Apple Store @ Arden Fair Mall in Sac, CA had all three models in stock as of about 8:40 PM.

I live in San Jose. There is no Apple Store on Curtner, but there is a Best Buy.

I'm sure that's what he meant.

Yea, the Best Buy in North Scottsdale had at about 150 in stock total...there were about 30 people in line. I feel like a dumbass for waiting since 7:00 am...could have just gotten there at 10:00 am and would have been the same thing.

Yup. Pv had somewhere around 100 and had plenty left at 2:30pm.

I picked mine up at Valley Fair (Apple Store) at about 4pm today. Funny thing is, the line to look at the iPads was really long, so I went across the street to Best Buy and played with it there. Took about 30 seconds to decide I want one, they didn't have any so went back to the Apple store. Still a long line to look at them but no line to buy them, in and out in 2 minutes.

All the 16 and 32 gb models in all the stores in a 20 mile radius from me that would have had any were sold out. There were some 64gb models left though. I wanted to pick up a second unit for the wife as she is now quite jealous of my 64gb model but she does not need that much space.

Guess she will just have to wait a while.
