Let me see 6K in Bad Apples and i voice my thoughts and i am a troll??? You have to be kidding anti-apple......yep, to much money down the drain, will i buy another mac....yes in time

So what you're suggesting is that you actually have 3 Macbooks all with the same symptoms? Why didn't you just take the first back for an exchange rather than keep buying a new one everytime?

......for now Vista baby....much say that the low end PC runs much better then my macbook ever did, and thats from a maclover..........oh and i was a member before you so watch who you call a troll

And that's not trolling???

Being a member before me hardly qualifies you as anything more than someone who was a member before me. Also, I did not suggest you were a troll until I did some back reading on your posts. I also think statistically, your claim of three straight failed machines is highly improbable (and I am being kind).

Now THAT'S trollin'! Whoo... you win.
I just tell it like it is.....sorry boys......

well i asure you they all had issues, I never thought i would ever buy another PC, but i did and when Apple get the QC issues under control maybe i will buy again.....but for now no.....

I am disabled and need a system, there no stores around me and i cant be without one.....so i was stuck...I never had a bad one in 20 years of mac use....now 4???

sp he's not supposed to be annoyed about the fact that he got a lemon?

Why take it out on us then? A study reveals that 38% of americans are not entitled to have an opinion. With a choice of title like that I think he qualifies.

Apart from that, I agree with gypsy. Apple has some quality problems with the macbook. First now, with the 3rd edition of macbooks do I dare to own one.

I was just posting as an FYI to potential buyers.

Suckbook was a little extreme and was not meant to cause a flame war, sorry.

The problems I have are well documented (search the forums).

I am just fustrated that apple does does seem to care. Yes all these are design flaws (crappy plastics, poor screens (invertor causes flickering of screen), etc. I just bought this machine in January.

The refresh of new macbooks have the same problems!

You would think that they would at least address these well know problems.

There it is, finally, the act of contrition, even with the magic work 'frustrated'. How many time have I read this exact scenario here? Inflammatory start, get the thread going, an established poster comes to the rescue, then the final act of contrition. This plays like a broken record.

If you're not receiving acceptable service from Applecare, then you should write a letter to Apple corporate. The important thing to keep in mind is to keep your letter civil and not call your machine a suckbook. Nobody will have any pity if you sink to that level.

Troll......

Go buy a Dell

Aren't you supposed to say, "Welcome to the Apple Karmic Supply List."

From now on Apple will only ship you certified lemon products.

Ask people ... get a lemon and complain, and you just seem to keep getting them from Apple. ;)

I have the lower case cracking too, in front of the palmrest. And an intermittent flicker. Looks good elsewhere, since I invested in some wipes. The only reason I haven't sent it back is because I want to be sure that Apple doesn't screw it up worse :p

So uh, the big question: how'd you get it in the first place? If you couldn't go to a store, the next logical thought would be that you ordered it online. But wait, if you called AppleCare or talked to Apple Executive Relations about your situation, not only would they probably understand, but they (or you) would have been able to schedule with FedEx or UPS for a package pickup and you wouldnt've had to buy 3 MacBooks. Ideal solution is if they just shipped you a new MacBook. Or there was some way to get on-site repair services. At most it logically would have been two MacBooks (one to use while the other was away for a couple days, which is still a far stretch).

If the need for a computer was this necessary, why not have a backup/secondary system available to begin with, because if you had the resources to purchase at least three MacBooks, this is a completely financially feasible idea. I work with a lot of visually impaired people and they all got some backup system in place for all their hardware necessary for daily activities - be it their old computer or used braille notetaker or what have you.

That being said, I have a rev. a blackbook and love it to pieces. Fingerprints are common for a lot of laptops, so it's nothing particularly disturbing or annoying. If anything I love it more because it's black - my previous iBook showed ALL ink and pencil smudges from being in my backpack, and that was infinitely worse.

I bought them on line, Apple did give me a 17" maxed out mackbook pro at no charge and I am selling it here, as its still sealed, to get back some of the cash i had lost, Apple has QC issues, if you say the dont, you my friend are then blind.... I have always loved macs but heck...4 bad ones in a row. they also aresending me more $100 off $300 coupons, i just wish they had better QC!

Hmm yes, I must be blind basing my idea of Apple QC on posts in a forum consisting of many subforums for help. I won't deny Apple has had their fair share of issues occasionally with component issues and failures, not to mention the unbelievable number of problems existing between the keyboard and chair, but it's nothing new for the industry. Besides, AppleCare is pretty good in terms of support when something does go awry.

That you had four failures in a row probably says more about what happened between the box leaving Apple up until the failure than it does about Apple QC, with certain exceptions (like the batteries).

Not to mention, going back through some of your posts, you seem to be awfully capable of going to the store to get a battery and selling perfectly fine laptops post-repair/replacement...

edit: sorry, sigh, I didn't mean to come off as a bitch, just that it doesn't make much sense. doesn't matter either way, and it's off topic anyway...

Also quite true, I'd let that get away from me. Though the frustration isn't surprising. We all want our new computer to work perfectly. I'll admit, I'm a little worried about my impending macbook purchase based on a number of threads I've read like this one.

Well, if it helps, my macbook has been fine since I got it 8 months ago :)

Well a knurled or satin finish would look as pleasing, and if you go that route you might as well go with the standard PC plastics.

Fingerprints and scratches are par for the course for polycarbonate, since it is a rather soft plastic.

However, the plastic case -- even though it can end up looking worn quick -- is rather durable compared to the abuse it can withstand compared to the aluminum can skin MBPs.

Though Apple can solve a bit of the wear issues if they offered simple 3M skins in a variety of styles, after all they offer iPod socks.

A while back I had a huge issue with sending my Powerbook in for repair, only to receive it back with a dented case, etc. That's why I didn't get a MBP, the case is too flimsy IMO. And there were plenty of scratches, all quite obvious.

No need to worry. As far as I can tell most of us with Macbooks are perfectly happy with them.

Boo Hoo

From what I understand, the case is fine......And case cracking seems weird...I've never heard of it. Atleast not as a major flaw with the MacBook...maybe you hurt it somewho?

Boo hoo.....you're wrong. He's suffering from common problems.

I've had many of the same issues. I've had my MacBook fixed around 5-6 times now. It's getting ridiculous. I really should get a new one now. I'm going to take my laptop in for a new palmrest soon, possibly a new logic board as well (my 3rd), since my screen still flickers. I've also had my LCD replaced to fix the same problem.

If it means anything, the guy who works at the Apple Centre near my home says that the CD MacBooks seem to have more problems than any other line of Macs he has encountered, while the newer C2D MacBooks have much much fewer problems. I have a CD MacBook, of course.

Never buy Rev A.

the closest store is in Orlando 1 hour and 45 minutes away, sorry Have been disabled from a Accident since 11/11/05......I asked apple online to send me a loaner or charge my credit card full for a loaner...they said no, guess that why steve jobs office called me so quick, he sees the problems i have had...I wish it was just a battery problem...but it was not......... yes Apple is not perfect as you guys think it is!

Apple sent you a maxed out MBP and you've not even tried it out and you're complaining  Oh come on....

Don't be worried. My black MacBook has been functioning flawlessly for me and I do not have any scratches or cracks on it, but then I protect it, keep it clean, wipe it down with iKlear occasionally and basically take care of it. :)
