Whoa, what are you going to do with the money? You've got the cream of the crop right there, and you're selling it? Will you buy yet another MB? (really dude $6000, they get repaired for free under warrenty unless you broke 'em)

Even more reason to disbelieve story, or at least believe there is something fishy about it.

With all due respect to an injured person, I still don't understand where the $6000 came from. From the comfort of your own ass they send you a box, you send it in and they send it back a couple days later.

I can't figure any scenario where that story adds up.

By the way, i am a woman......how many issues are too many, my last had 6, not worth the time .....

I was more refering to "dude" if that's what you're commenting on as the non gender specific noun of somebody (I call a lot of people dude, even if they are of the feminine gender). If the last computer had six problems, they should just replace or maybe that's why they sent you the MBP... I dunno, I don't mean to offend here, but I'm sorta a little sceptic about the story (doesn't make it not true, I just have a little bit of trouble believing it)

I just tell it like it is.....sorry boys......

well i asure you they all had issues, I never thought i would ever buy another PC, but i did and when Apple get the QC issues under control maybe i will buy again.....but for now no.....
If I were you, I'd just stay away from Apples.

The odds of you getting four different FUBAR'ed machines in-a-row during a time where it's pretty easy to use the forums here and elsewhere to see that there aren't any consistent QC issues being posted about says more about your bad luck than it does anything else.

No manufacturer (Dell, Apple, HP, etc) has figured out a way to guarantee that every machine they produce is 100% perfect.

Somewhere in this country, someone is having a very bad experience with the same model of low-end PC that's been your saving grace (since you can't seem to get an Apple that works).

If we were having this discussion a month after the initial launch of the MBP and MBs, where there was thread after thread after thread of people having QC issues (like the LCD buzz, processor whine, excessively hot cases, RSS, yellowing cases, etc), then it'd be a different story.

you don't offend me at all, yes i had bad luck on the macs, however steve jobs office saw what i bought and the time frame...and all the calls to tech support, thats why he sent me the free MBP, look some people don't beleve that in 20 years i had no problems at all with macs.......so you cant please every one.. :)

In the GypsyTroll's defense, i had FOUR! [count em] FOUR, macbooks go back to apple.

ordered a refurb rev. A. broken keys and plastic screen. #2 DOA. #3 broken keys and separated plastic above the CD slot #4 same EXACT problem.

now. you know what i did? bought a last gen iBook. Now i'm waiting for kinks to be worked out. OK. i didn't post to piss people off, i posted about it to educate and voice my problems for people who had similar ones.

but, in all fairness. gypsy is a troll. no doubt about it.

also, poor title. suckbook? it's not ever clever! :p

I never wrote Suckbook, as the OP wrote that, and yep I do love vista....I speak only for myself....no one else... I also posted in other threads...so you posted here, so you are a troll.....

Boo Hoo

From what I understand, the case is fine. Showing finger prints is a result of buying a black laptop. And case cracking seems weird...I've never heard of it. Atleast not as a major flaw with the MacBook...maybe you hurt it somewho?

And as for the screen problem, sucks, but its getting fixed(for free I hope!) so what can you do but wait?

Never heard of the case cracking on the palm rests? What planet have you been living on for the last year. Before you try and belittle somebody's complaints, try educating yourself with some research. Troll

I'd say that starting a thread with a title other than 'suckbook' would go even farther towards making this a nice place.

Why do you take complaints about a computer so personal, are you related to your computer? Jeez man get a life.

Wow.

I just want to add something, and I really hope a moderator or two reads this.

The general attitude in this forum is awful. I browse a lot of forums and I have never seen so much negativity and disrespect towards others beliefs and opinions. As soon as anyone says something negative about an Apple product they are automatically a troll. It really takes away from some of the fun and atmosphere that a forum like this should have, that being knowledgeable die hard Mac fans who are open minded.

I’m sure I’ll get flamed for even posting this, but the smugness of some of the members here is sickening.

I have major problems with apple macbooks. I bought a late 2006 model Blackbook.

Here are the issues:

Case cracking below because they simply did not make rubber proctectors and chose cheap plastic.

Finger print magnet- wtf can't touch the damn thing without making it look all greasy.

Screen flicker is so bad that mine is now in for repair.

Plastic case scratches like crazy.

I worked with a guy who had a blackbook, same model as yours (purchased last year).
The immediate first thing i noticed about it was all the fingerprints on it.

it turned me off to ever buy the black one hehehe.

it looked in good condition other than that.

People this nauseating are actually a minority, even on this forum. And it's usually a temporary stage.

I really would like a Mac forum that didn't have so many idiotic fanboys :p

You're just unfortunate enough to walk in at a time when there actually are people floating around that post about the same thing an annoying amount of times. This is often a complaint about something very minor that has been sensationalized, or a complaint so ridiculous it has a good chance of being made up (the exploding MacBook from a while back). How many times have we heard this same scenario, of people getting three, four, five Apple products in a row that all magically fail, when some of us know damn well we've been involved in the purchase of ten times that many products (or even more, in my case) without even the slightest issue? And now we have people complaining about dust and fingerprints? What is that all about! Then there are people that don't even ask for help, but just post to whine and complain. Well, they really aught to complain to Apple. I had endless problems with my Mighty Mouse, but since it was warranted, I just went to Apple and bitched about it, and got a free one.

Don't feel too put off, though. There is always the option to ignore posts by people you don't like. You'll find that most internet forums are like this however, for many reasons that all mostly revolved around the fact that we aren't physically accountable for what we say. People are far more comfortable with saying whatever they'd like, whether it be calling Apple detractors "trolls" and Apple defenders "fanboys" it's all the same crap.

Remember, in the end it's all just text on a computer screen. Don't lose sleep over it.

You are one of the main reasons that the forum is so negative. Please stop posting in EVERY GODDAMN THREAD about your problems. We get it, you had a hard time, but there is no reason to go into every thread and spreading your negativity. Once is more than enough, anything else is trolling, so please stop, it is incredibly, incredibly annoying.

And about the fingerprints and other computers not having them, it is because Apple has a glossy covere compared to everyone elses Matte-ish. My Toshiba 17" has a glossy type cover and the fingerprints are as bad, if not worse than my CD BlackBook. Stop complaining about it, otherwise, get a white one, not that hard.

Actually, this board becomes more negative when n00bs like you post with such a "GODDAMN" attitude.

You can get a pretty good read on the members that have been helpful and contributed to threads at MR simply based on how they respond to people's posts. ;)

Well ... it is a computer with a finish that is designed to look good on the showroom floor, and not a refrigerator with a coating marketed to repel fingerprints, dirt, and kids. ;)

As long as the machine continues to work, it really isn't an Apple problem -- since the warranty likely still disclaims "cosmetic issues."

That Apple does something for people even when they aren't obligated to is something, that Apple is attempting to head off a PR issue instead of winning a class action.
