It is unbelievable that one can buy a laptop with real USB-C, but not even find a USB-C to Thunderbolt cable, which can prevent working with it unless one has a native SATA solution for another computer.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm in the same boat with my XPS 13. Now I'm waiting on the Dell TB15 dock, which will hopefully work for both the rMB and XPS 13.

Just produce a friggin' USB-C to Thunderbolt cable, then there are better docks to choose from.

And I already have 2 different very complete ones.

With all the adapters already out there, how come there isn't one yet for Thunderbolt2?

Hi, I've been using the Anker 26800mah battery pack to charge my Macbook 12 in the car for a week or so.

For some strange reason my macbook 29w adaptor will now not charge the laptop for the second time this week. I pulled out usb-c end attached to laptop and adaptor, flipped ends and cleaned them, plugged and unplugged the adaptor, rebooted and finally it started charging. This happened a couple of days ago. i used the anker pack to keep the battery topped up. Turned it off, and the next day I had charging problems.

I have not had any issues with apple charger since I got the laptop last June.

Could this be related to Anker pack messing with the charging port ?

Choose yes but work is an entirely different story. It will only work if the USB-C part is also hooked up to something that is able to speak Thunderbolt. This is not the case with the current MacBook (USB3.1 Gen1 aka USB3.0 only!).

Probably because TB3 isn't mainstream yet. I suppose once that happens we'll see some converters. Intel did state at the TB3 announcement that there will be converters for backward compatibility with TB1 and 2.

Didn't check all 14 pages, so my apologies if it was already mentioned.

USB stick with both USB-A and USB-C connector: Kingston Data Traveler Micro Duo USB 3C

Available e.g. on Amazon in sizes 16, 32 and 64 GB. Comes in handy for data transfer from/to the rMB, when wireless speeds are lacking or unavailable. Speed in Blackmagic looks lackluster (around USB2 speeds), but when transferring big files via Finder, I saw a transfer rate around 100MB/s iirc. Not too expensive, either.

Does anyone know of a hub that will charge my MacBook AND the iPhone that I plug into the hub? I got the Satechi hub, and while I can sync the iPhone, it won't reliably charge. I just want to be able to charge my Mac and iPhone at the same time, while they sync via USB.

If all you need is one USB, then yes - Definitely get it.

Sidebar: I bought that Satechi adapter (the one with the USB-C passthrough)... hoping to have a 2 USB port solution. End result? It's just OK. It works for a USB drive, charging your Mac, and charging / syncing an iPhone, but it definitely doesn't work reliably with 2 external USB drives. The drives would continuously power-cycle. Oh well...
