CalDigit USB-C Dock is not working with the 2017 rMB. No signal from HDMI. I contacted CalDigit so we'll see if they can resolve it or if it's truly not supported.

Received my CalDigit TS3 dock and finally wrapped my head around the DisplayPort limitations.

My current setup has a 2016 15" driving two monitors: Dell U2412M 1920x200 and Dell UP2414Q 4K
The 4K monitor requires DP1.2 MST to run at 4K@60Hz

Since the TB interface is limited to 2 DP streams, I can have either monitor hang off of the docking station (my setup requires a total of 3 DP streams). One monitor must be connected directly to a Type-C port on the opposite side of the Mac. Oh well...

Perhaps when I can afford another 4K display with 99% Adobe RGB on single stream DP, I'll switch over.

SST DisplayPort @60Hz is fully achievable on TB2. I haven't tried a second monitor yet, but running a 32" @4k, I don't really feel the need to. My monitor is not 99% Adobe RGB, and I don't care as I don't do high level photo graphics, but it is a fantastic experience to have all of that real estate. Multiple Mission Control spaces suit me fine.

This is very interesting (but of course not so nice for you). I have that dock and am quite happy with it, but that's for a 2016 MBP. Would love to hear how this case works out.

Tried a non Apple cable and it was fine (so nothing to do with the charging brick or wall socket).
Are USB C cables known to be unreliable/prone to breakdown? It's only been 3 weeks!

No, and the Apple charging cable has been tested by indie guys like Nathan K. as extremely good. So I'd get a replacement at the store if I were you.

This Elgato dock seems to be getting worse and worse. Now my DP1.1 workaround isn't working anymore, the monitor is detected but I get ZERO display now. Support has escalated but it is taking time so I've ordered a Caldigit TS3 station in hopes it comes so now I am single Monitor with the ethernet and charging functions.

Just heard back from support and they recommended a "high quality" DisplayPort cable. I purchased the Accel DP1.2 cable from amazon with good reviews and guarantees to do 4K @ 60hz. I'll try it Wednesday and report back once in the office.

Hi all,
I recently made the jump to the 2017 MacBook Pro. I bought a hyperdrive as I figured it was the best option for externals at the time. Has anyone had any issues with the usb 3.1 ports on the hyperdrive? After a couple of days of working flawlessly, I started to get multiple unmount errors with my external HD. Now, the HD is not even recognized by my matchbook pro. It still is recognized without issue on my 2013 MacBook Pro. I've reached out to the company themselves, but have yet to hear back.

No go with the new cable. Either the Elgato is a crap dock or something isn't working, I am leaning towards the Elgato since I have two EXACTLY the same displays and experience the issue on either or with the Elgato DP. I am able to drive either monitor via DP using a Startech USB-C to DP cable with 4K@60Hz.

Elgato support wants me to collect timings and other information which I submitted this morning so lets see what happens. I suspect either an RMA or a firmware push to fix it but who knows. In the meantime I've ordered a CalDigit TS3 to see if I can reproduce.

It seems to be a DC-DC converter with firmware that speaks USB-PD. If well implemented, it could be nice. I've ordered one just for the hell of it.
Keep me updated! If it works, I'll get three - we have tons of Lenovo chargers at work, and these are supposedly compatible with them.

This dock is working flawlessly with my 2017 MacBook Pro 13" (hdmi to Dell U2515H). Same for my 2015 MacBook 12".

This is good news. I am currently in the RMA process waiting to get a new one from CalDigit. Maybe I just got a bad unit.

Hello,

I just got a 2017 13-inch tbMBP. How are you guys dealing with the included USB-C cable? I'm so used to the built-in cable hooks on the MagSafe adapters, and I'm going to miss it on the USB-C adapter. I just don't want to wrap the cable around the adapter. Has anyone tried this PowerPlay cable organizer?

Thanks!

Don't use solutions like that (cable hooks) because they will break your cables. It is good to see that Apple finally came to their senses and listened to the experts by removing those cable hooks. You simply need to treat it like any other cable: disconnect it from computer and charger, roll it up loosely and store. No rocket science, no stupid hooks that knack the cable and make it difficult to roll the cable.

Huh. I never had a problem with my cables wrapped around the hooks, and I've been using various MagSafe adapters since 2007. I wish it was still an option since you could fold the hooks into the adapter and not use it. Oh well. I just don't want the cable being loose even if it's rolled.

Yep, roll it up and fasten with velcro. I use these for all cables I have: https://www.amazon.com/Attmu-Reusab...9617164&sr=8-1&keywords=velcro+cable+fastener

Yeah, it looks like I'll have to use velcro ties.

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

No. Cal.

Just received my Arc Hub by Bourgedesign today. I'm very happy to be typing this post on my MacBook connected to my old 24" Cinema Display and charging at the same time. Everything works as expected, but I have't been able to test the HDMI connection since I don't have an HDMI display. The Arc Hub is well designed and well made.

A bonus is the ability to use it with Duet for a third display :)

I recommend it.

Monoprice USBC to DisplayPort works perfectly with 2017 MacBook 12" and 2017 iMac 27".

Does the USB-C to DP use the graphics card, though? Or does it have one of those horrible chips inside?

Displaylink, although there must be others that work the same.
I don't know what the internals are, sorry. Monoprice makes no mention of DisplayLink and there are no drivers to install. It's just plug and play.

So, basically, all I really know is that the Monoprice USBC to DisplayPort adapter works perfectly with the 2017 iMac 27" and the 2017 MacBook 12".
