Queen6,

Not sure what you were on about in your now deleted post re SL2, this was in relation to the SB2 as shown in the quote I included in my post.

Interesting. I received an email from Best Buy today, listing the Surface Laptop 2 256GB SSD models at $300 off, which made me wonder if maybe MS was planning on upgrading base SSD on entry-level SL2 machines this Spring.
Dang, I bought entry level 128gb the about 3 weeks ago! Oh well if I have to use my complete warranty maybe the will be out of stock of the 128gbs

I guess I will buy my time until an accident actually happens in the future or I actually start to notice serious battery degradation and "accidentally drop it on the floor". LoL

No I bought it at a Microsoft store but looking at the receipt its all moot since it actually has been longer then 30 days even though it doesn't seem that way

Bummer about the 30 days. Time kinda slips away sometimes. Otherwise the MS store is really good about taking it back up to day 30 (and maybe a couple beyond), but if you are too far beyond then you will just have to see how things go :)

Surface mobile sales at Best Buy...

I wish they’d include the Studio in these sales.

Costco has no bargain on the Studio 2 either, other than the second year warranty through Costco Concierge. Which could actually be a 4-year warranty if you also use your Costco Anywhere Visa to make the purchase, since that would add an additional 2 years. But otherwise, the price is identical.

I just wish they would make a display like the studio to dock my surface. My other wish and Microsoft could have made a lot of money on is selling the Surface Book keyboard with a GPU in it standalone. So people who couldn't afford it at the time could get it later.

There have been rumors that Microsoft will be releasing the Studio display as a standalone. Perhaps we will see that come along with the Surface Book 3 redesign soon?

Anyone got a Surface Go? Thoughts?

Looked at one in detail, but wasn't convinced about the performance for the intended usage. SP6 was more than I needed for the job, inadvertently came across an Acer Switch 5 which pretty much ticked all the boxes and was dirt cheap at just $650.

So far the Switch 5 has been perfect in the field while visiting contractors sites, an SP6 is definitely a more premium 2in1 and I would pick on up as a sole system, as a secondary overkill. I like the Surface Go a lot, however for my needs the CPU would be a "bottleneck" the Switch 5's i3 a much better performer capable of holding 2.7GHz indefinitely thx to a well thought out passive cooling solution.

I have one. The 128/8gb variant. It is excellent as a second or third device.
I use it as my always with me gadget.
Keeping on win 10s and accepting only marketplace apps does offer a fluent experience and good battery life.
My usage pattern is office apps, browsing with edge exclusively, mails using outlook, pdfs with xodo and some note taking with one note.
I do not recommend it as the main or only computer in the household.

I agree, though it could easily be an only computer for many users.

I have the 8/128 version and have a dongle to conntect to my 23" monitor. For me, the Go is a second computer with my primary being a i7 based desktop. While I do heavy photoshop work, I do it mostly at my day job and only occasionally at home. For anything other than major imaging and video work, my Go will do the job fine. Remoting in to my dual monitor iMac at work is marginal on the Go's own display but doable. When connected to the large monitor at home, the Go handles the task well, after all the iMac is doing the realy heavy lifting.

Yep, the only difference with me is that I've upgraded up from Win10S, just for a couple of programs. But usage case is the same as with Silvestru's, My brother too has an SG, he uses his more than I do mine (he uses his at work - vastly more flexible than his work-issued iPad), and he loves it. But I don't know if he'd call it his main computer.

FWIW, I use it differently than I did my iPads in the past. I haven't yet played a game on it (and I don't think I will). YouTube is great on it as is surfing on it. Emails, office apps etc, all tops. But my iPad Pro was used a lot for gaming on (SimCity BuildIt, dungeon crawlers, XCom etc). I got rid of that expectation prior to purchasing my SG and haven't regretted selling the iPP at all.

I'm thinking of selling my Surface Go that i don't use, bought Nov 17th has keyboard also. Paid $399 for it.
Should I put it in the marketplace? Any reasonable offer welcome.

Marketplace is probably a good start. Windows Central also has their own Marketplace and might reach a larger target audience. Microsoft Surface Forums also have a Buy/Sell/Trade section.

Thanks everyone for all the help, going to Hong Kong tomorrow so will keep an eye out if I can pick one up.
