I didnt realize they have a windows version (Neo) and an android version (Duo).

The Duo doesnt really look like anything special. Its cool that Microsoft are stepping into the android realm but I just dont see what that device offers other than the same dual screen implementation weve seen for LG, albeit refined. Especially when most android phones no have true multitasking, I just dont see the need.

The Neo on the other hand is a little more interesting. Its basically a smaller, more portable version of the surface tablet. Microsoft are trying to create another niche, somewhere between tablet and phone. Im not sure theres really that much demand for such a product, but at least its something different and new.

If the Duo is to be primarily a phone replacement first then tablet replacement second then it needs to have a third, even e-ink, display otherwise it'll get old having to unfold it all the time for basic calling/messaging/calendar functions and doesn't look to be single-hand operation friendly. Interesting to see how this Microsoft/Google collaboration stacks up productivity wise to the Galaxy Note.
I can see that a 3rd notification/answer screen on the outside seems logical to most but not all are constant screen watchers or dialers :)

It seems quite nice in some respects to close and not have to interact on every notification or as sunnapple notes for more active times reverse it

I guess its all about seeing how it works with your daily workflow/usage

I think many bring to much legacy usage in to discussions ie not every laptop has to be a clamshell and not every phone has to be a slab of glass :)

Options is what I like and support even if they are not for me

The proportions of this thing are way off.

MSFT should be getting back into the mobile market as an Android OEM with MSFT apps as default. Only, I would have started with a normal device, not a foldable. That would make for an extremely compelling Android phone, particularly for the Enterprise market.

Heck, they could probably even use skype as their version of iMessage.
Microsoft have been doing this, via Samsung. If you noticed, Samsung phones have already came with MS apps pre installed for a while now.

Yes there is a new collaboration between them, even if you go to help for help on MS site to get greater integration with your laptop and android re notificalions, photo's, messaging and calls it specifically mentions Samsung devices Note 10's

I hope the Duo is available on all carriers when released. I hope it is carried by the major carriers and not just from the MS website.

Apple is too expensive for me now. I loved what I saw in the keynote ad I’m highly impressed with Microsoft today. I think I’ll be selling my iPad and buying the Surface Pro X. I’ll be essentially paying only $500 for a new computer that has iPad-like functionality. Good job, Microsoft!
as much as I'm an all in Apple device user, MS is impressing me hugely. Apple really is an expensive initial investment for students. I pay for Office 365 and use a Outlook Email/Onedrive Storage and the experience on iOS/MacOS simply incredible.....but it also gives me the ability to switch platforms easily.

Lenovo has some smoking prices (almost 50% off their T490s) right now. Take a look. Maybe there is something you like.

Thank you for the recommendation, but I’d prefer not to own a Chinese product.

Yes, and Microsoft has keyboards that function like actual keyboards!

I think the Pro X is amazing. I’m really tempted to preorder. The combination of the thin bezels, keyboard, pen, replaceable ssd and adobe fresco is a knock out...

^ I hope not, but given the prices of foldables I wouldn't be surprised.
There's a big difference between foldable screens and dual screens. The Duo is a dual screen. But as been pointed out, Microsoft is channeling their inner Apple in overpricing their devices so it will probably come out near $1000.

I am thinking dual screens will be pricey too, especially with MS' Apple-like overpricing. If it's the price you quoted, I wouldn't be surprised.

I think that's a little unfair given production runs numbers of MS devices and the fact they are new formats justify some of the cost not unlike the new folding Samsung and Moto phones

Apple eek out their designs for multiple years

$1K sounds too cheap LOL

To some that sounds cheap, sure.

Do I respect the R&D that goes into something like this? Yes. I understand some reasoning behind new tech prices.

What I am willing to pay may not be what you are willing to pay, so that is not for me to judge. I paid $1k for a phone once, will not do that again.

If you feel it is worth the asking price, awesome. I hope you get that and much more from it. (Not sarcasm)

Sorry I was joking on the $1K but I expect it will be more :)

The iPhone is now over £1000 along with Samsung and other manufacturers. I suspect the Surface Duo will be around £1,200 possibly going as high as £1,500 if there are different configurations.

What I do wonder is how much more will the Neo cost? I can’t see them making it too high a cost, £2,000 would be too much.
