I have a slight issue with mine - I find my bluetooth mouse/keyboard stop working after awhile and I have to reset the SP to get them working again. Is this normal?

Hi, profane question: did you installed all (firmware-)updates, including the one from 19. May?

I didn't encounter that issue myself, but it seems, that one of those updates has addressed it (according to many people posting).

I can confirm that you won't miss a beat. I have a 4GB/128GB 11" MBA and a 4GB/128GB Aspire Switch 11. Except for the footprint creep of Windows, there's plenty of memory and storage for what it does.

I appreciate your help here today. Looking forward to grabbing it tonight

Would advise against the Switch 11 - it's the most top-heavy hybrid I've ever used.

Super heavy as well, and really thick. Only positive is the price.

Returned it the day after I bought it as it kept falling over. Just avoid Acer altogether - apart from some of their high-end stuff, everything else is cheaply put together, hence the budget price, and if you ever wanna resell, you wont get anything for it.

Was referring to the surface pro 3. :)

I'm about to remove windows 10.
I'm mostly finished getting my SP3 back to 8.1.

I have to say the recovery process was quite simple, not as fast as the Mac but efficient enough. Restored my data via my Acronis backup app, and reinstalled my Adobe and Ms apps from the cloud. All in all, I was able to get it done in about a 1/2 day. It would have been quicker but I was working on my Mac doing my normal day to day stuff, so that slowed down my attention on the SP3.

I forgot about how big the text can be on the SP3 when scaled up and that makes it that much more useful for me and my old eyes :)

Did you try flags?

In Chrome, you type

about:flags

Then hit enter and there are a lot of options. I think autocorrect is one of them, but I don't know if it does the two space to period thing.

The flags thing didn't work but I added an extension and that helped a little. ah well I will just do better when I use the type cover. I guess I am just used to it with rhe ipad

Didn't work how?

It worked as it got to the option but it wasn't what I was looking for as true auto correct.

I keep forgetting this is a laptop, not an iPad so I was used to the iOS keyboard auto correcting my flaws when typing in safari.

It is just like typing on a laptop or desktop where it wont be autocorrect like a phone or ipad. No big deal.

Thanks for helping.

----------

So what else does this thing do and top recommendations to do as a newbie or to set up? :)

Alright. Kind of sucks that it didn't work right for you. Maybe they'll change that as more people go mobile.

I didn't know about the about:flags option for Chrome. For some reason on my workstation in the office, Chrome does not autocorrect I'll have to take a look and see if I can get that to work now :)

FWIW, OOTP works great on my SP2 with 4 GB Ram. I wouldn't worry about 8 GB for your needs.

I'm a long time MAC user but my goodness is the SP line amazing. Perfectly good enough to be a laptop and a desktop, and the snap feature is something I probably wouldn't live without.

Regarding OOTP, how do I make everything bigger? I went into settings and selected max fonts already but the font is so small on the screen. Or at least to small for my liking. Anyway to make things bigger when in laptop mode?

1. I don't know regarding OOTP in particular, but it may come useful to check the windows scaling option in:

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display

Chances are, that OOTP is not optimised for Windows high resolutions yet. In this case the situation is similar to Mac retina screens displaying non-retina apps: things are rather blurry or incredibly tiny. In this case you have to wait for the developers to update their software for high res. screens.

2. About YouTube there is a great modern app called: Hyper for YouTube, but it seems to be temporarily taken out of Windows Store. Nevertheless, keep an eye on this, when it returns to the store again.

So I should up this to 150,200%?

It is so tiny my old eyes need things bigger. :)

Edit: nevermind, that didn't work. Frustrating

Have you tried changing the resolution? Personally, I prefer the 2 over the 3. Its a bit heavier and slightly smaller screen but the price was fantastic and its actually been shown to be faster because it does not throttle the CPU due to overheating issues.
