Have you tried changing the resolution? Personally, I prefer the 2 over the 3. Its a bit heavier and slightly smaller screen but the price was fantastic and its actually been shown to be faster because it does not throttle the CPU due to overheating issues.

Yes. As stated above it may be a program issue and not the SP3.

Also, I may return the type cover as the track pad is downright terrible. I guess if I never used a Mac trackpad it would be ok but coming from the Air it is so bad. The typing experience isnt terrible though so I am looking into a good portable blue tooth mouse.

These 2 seem to be leading the pack:

The only advice I have is to try to find Modern UI apps whenever you can. They scale correctly.

I figured this out the hard way but for what I use most, not many for me there. Even with this little issue I find the device to be great so far in my short time with it.

Problems I see is that the screen looks best to me at max brightness and I love Chrome so don't think I will approach anywhere near the 9 hour battery claim.

I am actually enjoying it more in tablet mode with the keyboard detached and lounging around with it then using the type cover so far which for me has become a glorified case. The trackpad is not usable but the keys arent bad.

Sadly, I find it to be the best Windows trackpad that I've ever used. Which is t saying much when all your other computers are Macs.

I think for me it is the size. It feels so compressed when attempting to do 2 finger swipes for back and forward of web pages and it is not as precise which is bothersome.

I feel like I have to keep it though due to typing accuracy but will be getting a mouse for the other piece unfortunately.

Just use your fingers directly on screen for any gestures and you will barely need a trackpad for anything but pointing. ;)

How do I shut off the annoying click feedback sound everytime I click something using the track pad?

Driving me mad and I thought I looked everywhere.

Not exactly sure, what you mean here: trackpad's physical click sound or sound played by Windows on certain clicks? If it is the latter, just disable / modify the Windows sound scheme at:

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items -> Sound -> Sounds

Hope, it helps...

thinking of returning it after 4 days as I have 15 from best buy I believe

type cover is terrible, mostly the trackpad
scaling issues are huge killers in the programs I use the most but that may not be the device fault
the macbook air just worked so well in every single aspect

i would miss tablet mode as I do enjoy that flexibility but not at the cost of other items

tough call as I want to see what windows 10 has to offer on the devicw

If you want to wait and see what Windows 10 offers, just return the device and wait for Surface Pro 4 to come out. It'll surely come out around the same time Windows 10 becomes widely available anyway.

i just might do that and go back to a macbook pro or air in the meantime so I can be sure to sell it quickly if need be.

pretty disappointed considering I love the hardware and device capability but too many cpmpromises

Ended up going with the 13 inch retina macbook pro and returned the surface.

Pros of the SP3:
lightweight
Speed
Screen was beautiful
Great battery
Windows 8.1 wasn't bad at all
Full programs in a tablet mode which I loved

Cons:
Scaling issues in some programs
Type cover was terrible for the trackpad, typing was ok
Was good at a lot of things, not great
No use for me in pen which kills a lot of draw of the device
Got really really warm a lot when watching YouTube videos

Overall a solid device but not for what I needed it for and will keep an eye on the sp4 but excited for my first retina apple device as I only had the air before and an iMac.

I agree with most of your points but not the one above. What specifically was your issue with the Type Cover or trackpad, more specifically. I found the Type Cover to deliver a great typing experience, especially compared to almost motionless keys such as the ones on the new MacBook. Also, while the trackpad isn't huge, it isn't completely out of proportion such as, once again, the new MacBook. It also pretty good at multitouch gestures, even though they are not as abundand in Windows.

IMO, the Surface lineup is terrific for two use-cases:

1. If you like to run standard apps in tablet mode (I enjoy that I can basically use it as a google machine but still access full apps)
2. If work mandates a PC

It was the form size of it. It was way to small and I found it to be terribly inaccurate in regards to false clicks. The typing experience was fine and actually enjoyed it but the device itself was good at a lot of things and not great at any one.

After using a macbook it is very hard to compromise on a subpar trackpad. I will be keeping an eye on the sp4 as Windows 10 looks promising and hopefully they can do something in regards to the hardware cover.

I too find the TypeCover to deliver a great typing experience. But the Trackpad is pretty bad.... and it is on the smallish side and is not very predictable in how it responds.

Agreed, the type cover is ok, but the track pad is horrid. I now take a mouse with me, because the track pad is so poor.

I still don't understand what's so difficult about making a trackpad. Why is it that only Apple can manage get it right? Even Wacom, who you'd expect would be able to offer an uncompromised experience considering their expertise, can only give you a merely decent, slightly above halfass trackpad.

I think its the size and form factor of what they are going for. It seems they need to keep it thin as well as a size that is manageable for the type cover.

I just got a new rMBP and the force touch trackpad is a delight to use. It's super accurate, effortless clicking, and feels amazing with all the gestures.

It's been six months of owning the Surface Pro 3.

If I was looking for a new device today with the Retina MBP available, there is no question that I would have bought the MBP over the SP3.

I don't plan on selling my SP3 because I will still use it to copy things to and from my Android devices, it's great at that.

I was using a mouse with the SP3 the first few weeks that I got it and then just started using the touch screen for most everything. I never did use the pen.

Nothing beats the track pad on this new MBP. Best purchase ever. :D

This is true to a point. But in general, trackpads are, at best, pretty meh in Windows world. Maybe things'll improve with Win10, since MS is enforcing a standard set of gestures. But that still requires the OEMs to make a trackpad that's worth half a damn before it can be taken advantage of.

Since I'd be using the pen more often than not, I'm pretty dead set on getting a Surface at some point (or possibly iPad Pro depending). But if I were in the market for a good old fashioned regular laptop, it'd be a Macbook. Because of their trackpads, you don't even have to think about using it. You put your fingers on it, and it does what you expect it to do, smoothly and efficiently.

Contrast this with using a Windows 8 laptop, where I felt like I was putting my fingers through a particularly cruel game of Twister, and kept constantly calling up the charms bar by accident. It made me want to punch something.

Trying to scroll using the touch screen on the SP3 nearly always brought up the charms for me. It seems like it got worse over the last few months. So frustrating.

If you were trying to use the scrollbar on the right side of the screen, you'll probably hate Windows 10 then. MS made them smaller there, and swiping from the right brings up the notifications bar.

I guess it all depends on how it's implemented.

I never used the scroll bar. I just scrolled on a page by swiping up or down.
