Phoned the O2 iPhone line again yesterday and this time I got a very helpful lady. I told her that I wanted to use my Nokia N95 to send MMS and she knew exactly what to do to make it happen. I was able to send and receive picture messages within 1 hour using the settings below.

HOORAY !!!!!
Ive got swirly up and running...cant believe it!!!

This is what i did if anyone's interested:

I rang 2302 on my IPHONE this number puts you through to the iphone team after going through the various options on the phone wait to you get the option speak to an advisor or what ever it says.

Once i got the how can i help you? I said that i wanted my iphone tariff enabled for mms...before she could say anything i also said..i know your probably going to say it cant be done and its not possible on the iphone.

But i use my sim in a different phone at the wends....She replies ok no problems let me have a look....whilst she is waiting for my account to come up on her screen...i start chirping that my friend as managed it and i've read in various forums on the internet that its a case of enabling/ disabling the mms bar or what ever you want to call it....i also said to her ...no disrespect to you (in a nice voice) but ive heard its a case of hit and miss who you deal with weather
they know what they are doing or if they have dealt with the request before.

So while im saying this my account is up on her screen and she says its enabled already...(probably from one of the many phone calls before, that has'nt solved my prob)

Now she says i will disable and enable it again...she then asks me what phone will i be using the sim in.I say N95..(which is a lie cos i hav'nt got one) i can send you the settings for that handset....i say no its ok because they are already in my phone.( another lie )

Ok thats fine then she says...She contiunes to say ok they are enabled now..im just waiting for the proceed bar this can take a hour or so and i will text you when its gone through.

20 mins later i pick one of the settings out of swirly it self and low and behold it works!!!

She even rang me back to make sure it had gone through...and asked if i would take part in a customer satisfaction survey which i did and give her top marks!!

Her name is Joe and shes Scottish...i did try to get her direct no so other people on here could reap the rewards of her knowledge but she could'nt do that so sorry.

Thanks to you guys who said keep trying....i was on my last try when i got lucky.
Sorry its long winded but i hope my experience can help others.:smashin:

Stressed

Ahh,

Well after reading this thread I'm a little stressed.

When I bought my iphone I had major problems with services not working on my iphone.

One of which my MMS, it was still "active", so I never recieved the text that says "goto this web page" etc.

After several calls later I finally got them to "disable" the MMS service and I started getting texts saying you have recieved an MMS etc.

Wished I hadn't now.... Looks like I may have to undo it now I have swirly LOL

I'm going to go back to my old phone and try to send MMS/recieve MMS, or activate the MMS on the web using my old phone??? Sounds like customer services are rubbish.

Will let you know how I get on....

UPDATE: Been to the o2 home page and logged in. Went to "Services" (@top), then "setting up your phone" (@left). It sets up picture messaging for you!! No Person to talk to :)

I'm going to put my sim in my old erricson, and put down that i have an ericcson etc and see if it sets it up for me.

Can't try now because I am abroad. Will try when I get back, else if anyone wants to try it now?? It's easy to get the account if you follow the instructions at o2, they send you a txt and pin etc etc and you're in...

Cheers,
Si
