Now send a mms. It will take some time for the network to recognize the phone. Be patient. Took me about 10 minutes. Dont continue until you have successfully sent a message.

.

what do you mean "network to recognize the phone" what happened in the ten minutes? i am unable to send a picture message and unable to recieve them. it gives me the option to download but wont. i used a motorola slvr and i have at&t in the usa

same here.. i stuck my sim in my old pantech duo and tried to send an mms and got an error saying "service not activated on carrier" even though i have the family texting as needed. and had wap push activated.

getting it to work

I just got an Iphone a little while back with a new att contract, what i had to do to get the MMS working is to use another phone till it showed up as my phone on the att then go to messaging and change it from iphone text messaging to normal messaging and so far it is working. So if nothing else is working you might want to try that.

P.S. you still have to activate the MMS with the other phone on the medianet website

Here is how to get SwirlyMMS to work with AT&T and without switching your sim card into another phone. You have to call AT&T customer service and enter your 4 digit social for the account and do all that jazz. When you finally are talking with the person, you have to have them enable WAP Push on your account. At this point I ran into a problem of people saying 2 things:

1) Why are you do you want to enable WAP Push you have an iPhone, you can't send MMS.
Response - I know i cant but i want to switch my sim card into another phone and send MMS with the other phone not the iPhone.

2) Sorry we physically can't change your WAP Push to "enable" because you are an iPhone user. Everytime I try to change it, it wont allow me.
Response - (This is a lie, anyone who says they physically can't change it in Snooper, this is the program they use, is lying). It most certainly is possible because I have it working on my phone and all the other AT&T customers that have swirly working have WAP Push enabled. I think some AT&T workers have caught wind of swirlyMMS and are specifically told NOT to enable WAP Push for iPhone users. What do to here is basically end the conversation because they wont help you.

Now you call back again, get someone else and go through the routine and try to get someone to enable WAP Push. The time I got it was from some lady and she obviously had no idea what i was trying to do. I told her i needed WAP Push enabled and she asked why and i gave her the same reason as before. She did that for me so that part is done.

Next: You need her to reset your VLR, and have your OTA sent. Her doing this will cause your phone call to end because she is resetting you on the network and the OTA is the activation of your phone. After the call ends immediately turn off your phone and wait for about 1 min, i waited about 5 mins to be safe. I turned my phone back on, turned on swirly, i still had my same settings, however i didnt get the green M to come up. No worries, all i did was just delete swirly and got it back. The green M popped up and i resent my last message and everything worked.

If the message was too long for you to read here it is broken down:
HAVE WAP PUSH ENABLED (LISTEN TO ME...IGNORE AT&T OR ANYONE WHEN THEY SAY THIS ISN'T REQUIRED!!!!)
HAVE YOUR OTA SENT
HAVE YOUR VLR RESET
HOLD POWER BUTTON, WHILE STILL HOLDING POWER BUTTON SLIDE THE "SLIDE TO TURN OFF WIDGET"
WAIT 60 SECONDS
POWER PHONE BACK UP
ALL CHANGES WILL NOW TAKE EFFECT

Help!!! I had it and now it doesnt work no more.

So I got it working and then my iPhone crashed and had to do a complete restore. I reinstalled Swirly MMS and now it will not work! I keep getting the User Barred error message! Can anyone help me please!!!!

I just did the exact same thing... I'll have to install SwirlyMMS now and what settings should I be using?

Do you have the family messaging plan?

NOte just got my att bill and they charged me as a pay per use for mms, it is .30 for a message, its not that bad as 26 messages cost me around 10 bucks, you figure it would be around 9.99 for an messaging plan anyways, as long as you dont overuse the feature I see it being worthwile, but buyer beware.

Please help

Hello all,
How are you getting medianet plan to stick ? I have a Nokia 2610 gophone that i'm swapping sim's between & i have unlimited text media non-iphone plan. I have had swapped sim cards and had att do what they called a "master reset" once medianet was working again on the nokia, i swap back to the iphone and am able to send and receive for a short period. mms stops working on iphone and i swap back to the nokia and medianet is no longer working. (when i visit the att wireless site, whatever phone i have the sim in at that time reflects correctly on the ATT wireless site). I've done this 3x now, the last time i was on with support, they said i have wap push enabled... If anyone can help shed some light i'd appreciate the help
not sure what i'm missing
thank you

mine has been working flawlessly for about a week now. I'm also running the "ibluetooth" it's running flawlessly as well. Woot!!!!

Not sure what to tell u bro. All I had to do was repeat the steps twice and mine has been working ever since. I chose the first setting in the list in the "settings" area of the ibluetooth app. There is no reason why it shouldn't work for u. After putting ur sim in the gophone: did u make a call from it: then wait about 5-6 minutes?? Before swapping the sim?? You also have to send a text message to ur self from the gophone; then wait till u receive it;then make the swap back to the iPhone. Like I said; I had to do this twice before it stuck. I wish u the best. Don't worry too much...firmware release 3.0 is coming this summer; it WILL have both Bluetooth and mms; fully functional. Goto modmyi.com for further on that.

Chris

I just installed swirly, and I did not have to contact ATT at all, and it works great.

Maybe with 3.0 coming they enabled it on everyone's account.

???

after i do the 4 digit thing on the website it wont let me send a mms and i have been trying for an hour

swirly mms worked perfect.

i just wanted to thank you for your help. i followed exactly as you discribed on your instructions for the swirly mms and it worked. i can send and received mms perfectly. i didn't need to talk to at&t. my iphone is 3g with 2.2.1 firmware.

thanks.

I can confirm that the following steps will allow Swirly to work on your AT&T iPhone. I got this from the swirly forums and it worked for me.I think you need family plan with messaging on it also, which I do.

First, you will need a regular AT&T/Cingular phone. I used a old Nokia 2610. You should be able to use any phone as long as it is Media Net compatible.

Take the SIM from your iPhone, Insert it in to a standard phone, Make a phone call, wait about 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes go to the following link,

http://mymedianet.wireless.att.com/app/MC/Default.aspx

Enter in your mobile number(it might say your phone is not supported.. if so wait a little longer and try again), then at the next screen it will ask for a 4 digit code.

The 4 digit code will be sent to your phone via Text message.

Enter the code in on the website and then you should be able to access the main Media Net site.

Now send a mms. It will take some time for the network to recognize the phone. Be patient. Took me about 10 minutes. Dont continue until you have successfully sent a message.

Now take out the sim card and place it back in the iPhone.

Make sure the Swirly MMS Settings are as follows...

MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: 066.209.011.032

leave apn, username, and password fields blank..

Image Size: Maximum
UserAgent: Nokia_N95.

Vonswanko's solution worked for my 2g phone

I have the 2g iPhone with AT&T that is jailbroken with quickpwn and running Cydia with SwirlyMMS version 2. I have 2.2 firmware on the iPhone and jailbroke with 2.2.5 quickpwn.
I used my sons LG phone to do it, simply pulled out mu SIM card from the iPhone and inserted it in his and followed the steps posted by Vonswanko.

Thanks :)

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I found the thread through google and I wanted to leave a note for others on iPhone MMS in light of the 3.0 update on my iPhone 3G. While I have no need for Swirly with the new integrated MMS feature, this method is still necessary and works one and the same.

What I did: I enabled the MMS controls on the iPhone by using the modded IPCC method described on many forums and as found on Google. The settings I entered on the iPhone exactly match those found in this thread.

After enabling the controls, I followed the steps in this thread. Specifically, I switched my SIM to a non-iPhone and changed my messaging feature on OLAM from the iPhone Messaging feature to the regular Messaging feature. I used an unlocked non-AT&T phone, and it took several hours before my phone showed up as an unknown phone so I could switch the feature.

Once the feature was switched, I registered on the MediaNet site, also found in this thread. I then sent and received several MMS messages on the non-iPhone. I replaced the SIM in my iPhone and tried to send a message. It seemed to work. By the time an hour passed, however, I was getting errors on the iPhone again. I tried the entire process again the next day, and it has been working on my iPhone for several hours without problem.

To be fair, I'm not sure why mine worked and others has not. However, if I had to say what I thought might have helped was: 1) try this process more than once...as I said, it didn't work for me the first time after an hour or so. 2) send a bunch of messages and make some calls from the non-iPhone after successfully sending the mms. Leave the SIM in there for some time before switching back to the iPhone. 3) As soon as you get the SIM back into the iPhone, send a bunch of MMSes and keep it up at least until your OLAM shows you as using an iPhone again. If you can keep messaging past this phase, my guess is that it won't try to shut you down again.

I hope this helps another Google user to get their MMS working as well!

Got mine working today

I called AT&T today and told them I needed WAP Push enabled so I could use a Razor at work to send images via MMS from the field, but that I would be using my iPhone on my own time, same SIM. The customer service rep had to talk to tech support, both were super nice btw, and after about a 15 minute phone call my swirly is working. No need to change sims into another phone.

I just played kind of dumb and said my tech guy told me I needed WAP Push enabled.

On a side note: The tech support rep said that Apple and ATT were working on rolling out MMS for the iPhone soon. I believe she said it should be in a month or so. I responded with, "great, then I will be able to just use my iPhone at work too?!" She said yes. I am sure Swirly will remain a better mms app, so I am not upset about my purchase.

ok guys, I have done EVERYTHING possible and STILL cant get this to work. I have the full version of Swirly - $12, I have tried EVERY AT&T setting I have seen, I have restarted the phone, I have done the whole MediaNet thing....and I am STILL getting the error. I have a pic so its half way working lol but when I go to "fetch" the pic it gives me that annoying unexpected http response (-1)

WHAT IS GOING ON!?! How in the world can I get this to work? None of the settings have worked and this is really driving me insane!

Edit: I have single line, the unlimited texting with MMS package, the iphone PDA package
