Uh, I have AT&T and my MMS works fine. I sent and received at least 20 MMS messages today.
My settings are

MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: 066.209.011.032
Image Size: High
UserAgent: iPhone

Everything else is blank.

If you have this working I am curious as too how? I say this because I stopped by the corp store and there are NO settings to allow this under the the following:

3G iPhone data plan which includes txt message packages.

There is nothing in there for them to enable MMS. The only way this can be done is through using another plan setup for the iPhone 3G, 99.9% of us that have the iphone 3G have the exact same plan except for the obvious of minutes and data packages.

I went home and called and the girl put her supervisor on and he said the only way to do it is by changing the whole package of data and MMS and because of the IMEI number there system will not let it go through and some other reasons. I spent an hour on the phone and we tried everything possible and rebooting my phone and everything we could think of and it would not work.

I can only speak for myself and my iPhone which I used QuickPwn on last night.

I have googled and tried so many settings that at this point its just NOT worth it to me and even if it worked its 25cents a message.

Anyone else got any suggestions?

If you have a messaging plan from ATT you should NOT be charged for MMS messages. They are included with the plan you purchased. If you're being charged per message you need to call customer support.

Under the 3G iphone plan the only TXT messageing packages are the 200 and up and they do NOT include MMS "Multimedia Messageing Service" according to what AT&T is saying. 1st Gen iPhones I have NO idea of but I am just passing along what I was told and saw on the Coroporate stores screen.

That's utter ********. The text message plan that you purchase from ATT with your iPhone 3G is the EXACT same as everyone else's and carry the same conditions.

These are the settings i used and it is working perfectly, except getting charged for the MMS's. The reason I am getting charged is because (like previously stated the iphone plan is for texts only. I am not sure how to approach ATT about why I am getting charged if the iphone is not supposed to be able to MMS.

According to the reps I spoke with face to face and on the phone its not , its tailored to Apple .

I know what your saying and agree but goto your local store and bring up your acct and find out where you can add this? From what I saw with out changing the whole package around you cant. Trust me I want he MMS to work and not get raped on the pricing.

Your using the http:// ?

What you posted are the EXACT Settings in your Swirlymms configuration?

Just verifying so I can try later

Changing or modifying your acct for MMS

Stopped by the corp store again and even after changing my acct around it would not accept it.

If people have this working so that swirly works and your not getting raped on the bill , I applaud you seriously. :)

But I am done with this for now. All the extra BS you have to do and trial by error is NOT worth a picture in a txt msg to me.:apple:

has anybody got this working on orange uk?
my settings are:

MMCS: http://mms.orange.co.uk/
Proxy: 192.168.224.10:8080

APN: orangemms
Username: orange
Password: multimedia.

Somebody please help

thanks

I use those settings on mine and it works fine. The only difference on mine is that I have Orange and Multimedia with capitals at the front of them but that wouldn't make a difference I suppose. Do you have MMS enabled on your account? Phone 150 from your mobile to find out.

sim cards

I know when the iphone 3g first came out I put another AT&T sim card in and the phone worked fine. That sim card had the data plan, unlimited mms and sms and was also $15.00 cheaper than the iphone plan. I wonder what would happen if you set up swirly on the phone and then put in a sim from another phone that definetally had an mms plan. If it works and you had the ability you could swap sims. You would have two plans, but there are ways around that, such as cancelling the iphone plan, taking the cancellation fee and keeping the phone. Or give your iphone sim to someone else on your plan that has a blackberry or something....

Dunno were in the world you are but if your with ATT he wuz joking around saying the solution would be orange. =P

This thread isn't particular to the US or even ATT.

I wasn't joking, look at my location and username.

The settings given by myself are for 02 in the UK and thanks to jsm1 for expanding on them for payg customers.

Has anyone on att gotten this to work?

well....has anybody? from my understanding, contrary to other posts here, you must activate MMS capabilities on the iphone through at&t, I'm not exactly sure how this works if you have unlimited sms. I would guess that having unlimited sms does not count for mms, and would have to be an added feature
