The title of this thread is cringe worthy, and really strange.

Why does switching brands from one to another make some people cry and feel like they cheated on their spouse or something really serious. At the end of the day it's just some electronic gadget, made by sweatshop kids in China. It's a cellphone and there are many to choose from, it makes zero difference if it has a fruit logo on the back, or a little robot.

Personally I love my Pixel 3 XL, it's super smooth and fast, has a great camera with the excellent Night Sight mode, and the OS is fluid and updated every month. Yeah the phone could be better, with a smaller notch and more RAM, but it's still an amazing phone.

But I also agree the iPhone XS Max is a great device too, super nice build quality, gorgeous full screen display, outstanding hardware, etc... But it runs iOS :( which to me is pure horse poo, and just plain sucks balls. I despise iOS. But hey, that's my opinion, and obviously many millions of buyers disagree with me, and that's cool. Different strokes, for different folks.

But don't get so attached to a brand. Maybe next year the Pixel 4 might suck bad, and iOS 13 might get much needed updates, and I'll switch. I could care less which brand of gadget I have, as long as it works for what I want

At the end of the day an Apple phone or Google phone, all make calls, they both text, they both surf the web, they both do e-mails, and both do navigation GPS, they both play media, etc...Really people need to stop getting so hung up on specific brands, who frigging cares.

I have to admit what U said rings so very true.

Believe it or not there was a time when the world existed w/out smartphones and the only computers a person could get was IBM or Macintosh, both cost a small mortgage payment and were as heavy as a small Volkswagen.

Whatever works for you or anyone and is able to work for what their needs are.

See me signature to see what apple products I own.

I always toy with the idea of selling the rMB and getting a surface laptop 2 / or xps 13 and getting the new samsung s10 when it comes out.

I miss windows and it has come very far (used it in the 90s as a kid up until about 2006).

Apple does a damn good job keeping me in their ecosystem but these are the only two apple products I own. I use spoify for music and might begin to use google for my storage (I do worry about privacy though but I have nothing to hide).

I may go for it and see how it works out someday. When I do I will report back.

As others have said: Its a tool, a product. I don't see the loyalty aspect unless you are a die hard apple fan / collector.

Enjoy whatever you own and if you don't make the arrangements to make your digital life better.

as if there's a terrible stigma surrounding the use of android phones.
The only stigma is created online, often in the YouTube comments section & forums, by people unable to chat openly about all platforms & accepting that they all have something to offer when it comes to progressing the whole smartphone environment.

Fanboys (deranged extremists) on either side will have you believe idiots use the platform they ‘hate’.

Ignore these people & use whatever you want without any paranoia of it being ‘wrong’....

I agree phones are a tool, but the way Google has set up the Pixel line is unique. Pixel devices are not hardware-centric. The Pixel is a vessel for software which also happens to have an amazing camera. iPhone is an amazing piece of hardware with second-rate software.

For me, it just came to a head with iPhone. I pay $1000+ for a device which failed to innovate on the camera, has a second rate assistant, and has terrible lock in and limited customization. The lock in is so bad, when I want a new device, I have one choice and I have just had enough.

And yeah, the Pixel isn't cheap, but if you were willing to wait after its launch, you could get the Pixel 3 for $100-$200 off depending on the model. $700 for a Pixel or $1000 for an iPhone?

Well said and I agree. I don't care what brand logo it has. Hec I might get a Motorola Z3 next and I'll be fine with it. Price is starting to be a factor and im just not going to pay up to a certain price point.
One thing I know for sure is I don't care for pure Android and when I switched from iOS years ago, I felt liberated and free and haven't looked back.
Even if I liked iOS as much Apple has priced themselves out of my range. They are ridiculous and I am astonished many are willing to pay that much for a phone they will keep for only a year.

This is weird. So I bought the one plus 6T and it's an incredible phone and i am enjoying it. It's really fast, stable and has not let me down in the week I have owned it. But I can't shake the feeling of something being off.

I know I shouldn't feel bad about using android now, they have come a long way and are often better than their counterparts but because I have used iPhone for so long and because I have I swore allegiance to them long ago, I do feel dirty, as if there's a terrible stigma surrounding the use of android phones.

I am not sure what Apple has done but I do feel slightly brainwashed even after switching, hopefully this will fix it's self in time.

Has anybody else experienced what I'm talking about? It is hard to articulate, and I'm hoping you understand where I'm coming from at least lol.

You sound brainwashed if you ask me. Android and Iphones are just umm phones. No matter what, Google or Apple is going to take your data and use it for marketing. Don't be fooled. Enjoy your Android freedom.

I just think it is funny. They have iPhones and can turn on the feature which allows you to send Text messages from a Mac, iPad, or iPod, but most people don’t do that, or know how to.

Kinda fun to be (sorta) well versed in both platforms.
They don't seem bright. And you highlighted a problem that affects Apple and Android sheep. They'll lambast the other side but can't work out intricate options or preferences in their phone and have zero concept of most things outside the basics. But, hey, it's a shiny phone!

I switched when Windows 10 was released, and my frustration with monitor connections on my rMB made me look around. A $500 Surface can do 4K, and I discovered I like Windows 10. I haven’t looked back. In my job I get to tinker with very cool tech stuff 10 hours or more a somedays. I don’t want to have that with personal tech. I don’t need a tech hobby so to speak, for those that do Android is far more accommodating. Sounds really stupid but what has broken having a new iPhone for me is Apple not making a leather case, or any case case but one, for my Xr. I’m also over 1K phones no matter what operating system. I already use more Google apps than Apple, now I have to find the right Android phone in that messy sea.

Try the OnePlus 6T. I was very skeptical and am now sold on OxygenOS. I use it more than my iPhone XS. *IF* you don't need the best camera, stereo speakers, and can live without wireless charging and guaranteed monthly updates, it is a much better experience than the Pixels. Screen is fantastic, ignore naysayers. My 6T is on the December update. Owned the Pixel 2 XL, tried and returned the 3 and 3 XL. And the official OP "Nylon" case is fantastic. Try a 6T and return it if you don't like it. Just an awesome little gadget for $570.

Just my opinion of course.
