More observations...
So I just typed a big response that got lost by my stupid work computer with IE, so I will try again.
Some further observations after using the phone last night and this morning, in no particluar order:
1. Lack of a hardware mute switch is a minor annoyance.
2. As was stated previously in the thread, the email experience is far superior on iOS. Having to pan and scan as many emails as I have had to thus far is frankly unacceptable. The fact that there is no image scaling is unaccpetable. There must be a third party alternative, but I have yet to find one.
3. Clock app destroys iOS clock app. Having separate alarm volume is wonderful. Having the phone vibrate on everything but alarm is also great. Being able to customize the snooze time is also great.
4. Having the speaker on the back of the phone is very, very dumb.
5. Chrome is not great. Tap to zoom doesn't work as well as on iOS and new pages sometimes seem to load already zoomed in. I want the full page to load and I'll decide what to zoom in on. It takes one too many clicks to get to bookmarks, but this is a problem with Chrome on iOS as well. I will be looking into 3rd party browsers. Any suggestions?
6. Phone speed and display are still impressive. HSPA+ on this phone is a big upgrade from regular 3G on my iPhone 4.
7. I have only downloaded a few apps thus far and while I was able to get Andriod versions of all my major apps so far, app quality is worse than iOS. Graphics on some apps can be "fuzzy", UIs are inconsistent, some apps just have issues (i.e. the Speetest.net app always thinks I am Indiana for some reason), but to be honest I expected this. While this has been annoying, I wouldn't call it a major issue yet.
8. I have tried several widgets. A couple are useful, but they largely seem like a neat gimmick only.
9. Voice Search/Google Now work great.
10. Google Voice App and Google Voice Integration is better, as expected.
11. Not being able to tap to scroll to the top of a webpage or app is a major annoyance. And from my research, this is just something I have to live with.
12. I don't get the camera hate. Seems fine to me. Stock editing options are limited, but they are on iOS as well. I used Snapseed on iOS and am planning to try it on Android.
13. Still dislike the stock messaging app.
13. Notifcations are different, but I wouldn't say worse. I do wish I could control notifcation settings for apps in a central place like I can in iOS though.
14. Editing contacts is a mess. Two clicks to get to edit mode from the contact? Then if they don't have a phone number and only an email address, I have to scroll down and select "Add another field", then pick the field, then add the data? Crazy.
14. I have just scratched the surface on UI customization, so not much to comment on there.
Basically, I am doing OK so far. The email thing is really my main problem, and it is unbelievable this is considered acceptable. But all the other things combined do worry me. Not totally sure yet if Android is right for me.
