The best things that you know of maybe. Still plenty not there, but yes, fewer differences.

Those were the big ones from android that everyone wanted, that was what i meant. Everything else is meh. Android is too convoluted for me.

I just got my iPhone 6 and have been playing with SWYPE and SWIFT KEY. I cannot decide whats better... HOWEVER.... I do think I like SWYPE.. I used it all the time when I had an android phone years ago. I also like the fact that SWYPE has ALT keys you can swipe up on the key to get so you dont need to used the number pad .

That being said... I tried typing on both and both were about equally the same. SO, WHY is everyone going with SWIFT KEY? I think SWYPE is faster with the alt keys. The only think both are missing is dictation...

After using my 6+ with SwiftKey I don't think I really like the swyping feature. It's better for a smaller screen, but I can type a lot faster normally with the 6+. Fleksy is looking pretty nice now but SwiftKey seems to work fine with normal typing even with the swyping enabled so I don't know if buying Fleksy is worth it.

Do you have to "Enable Full Access" for SwiftKey to allow swype typing? Isn't that a bit of a concern?

This is my concern too. Although we seem to be in the minority, judging by other replies.

I am so concerned about this, I have swype on ip5 but I am wondering if they have "enable full access" on by default because I can't see the setting, or if swype is safer.

So I am not the only one that is concerned then? I guess it's true of all apps really but what's the concern here is that they log your input...how much of that tho who knows?

If you grant a keyboard all access you are giving it permission to log and transmit back to the developers 100% of what you type should they want to access it.

Keyboards like swype don't do this (to the best of my knowledge) as, swype for example, doesn't perform predictive typing and so has no need to collect or transmit information. I should probably say, I am a developer but I'm not affiliated with swype or any other keyboard developer.

Edit: After a bit more research Fleksy also state that they do not collect any data from you without your explicit permission, even with full access on you are by default not allowing them to collect sensitive information from you. And even if you allow them to collect information what they collect is fairly minimal, encrypted and not connected to any personal information whatsoever. So I might give Fleksy a try as well to compare it to Swype, which is still my favourite.

Swype or SwiftKey?

I still don't see why Swype is not as good as swiftkey. Please explain and don't just say one is free. I'm using Swype to type this and it is pretty accurate. I also tried flesky and it's pretty good too.

So can anyone answer this?

Why only compare SwiftKey and Swype? There are also other swype iOS8 keyboard apps available within the App Store like 'TouchPal' (free) and 'Swipe Keyboard' (free) and soon also 'Path Input' (paid, still iOS7 app).

Aside from the fully swipe apps there are also quite some other keyboard apps see also the general topic here.

I havent heard of those other keyboards. Also, why does IOS8, when you select a different keyboard, then later go back to the app, it is reverted back to the stock IOS8 keyboard?

Thanks...

Do any of these third party keyboards collect private data?

From a technical standpoint they all could, however their privacy policies claim that they don't.
That said the only one of all the third party keyboards which doesn't require full access to use all of its features and therefore is definitely not sending any such information back to the developers is Swype.
Swype provides all of its features locally on your device and does not require full access at all.
I've tried all the keyboards and so far the one I use the most is Swype, it's performed better than I could have hoped for me so I'll be sticking with it.

No one has still answered why one is better then the other. I'm using Swype to type this now

Swiftkey is better for me simply because it's free (issues with debit card) so I can't try out Swype. As soon as it's free then I'll see. Plus I love the orange and black keyboard of Swype

I prefer Swiftkey, but I am sticking with the stock keyboard. As it stands, quick-replying to messages from the lock screen forces usage of the stock keyboard. I'm big on having a cohesive phone experience, and having one keyboard for quick-replying and one for everything else is just too jarring of an experience for me.

Sticking with stock keyboard until that is sorted out (if it ever is).

EDIT: I should also note that I really do like TouchPal-- probably better than Swiftkey. But it's really annoying how it inputs text. It doesn't actually add anything to the text field until you start the next word, so if you mess up and you're already swiping the next word, you have to finish swiping, delete both words, re-swipe the first one, etc. Just a really annoying experience.

Most consider it superior because it's free.

Personally I prefer Swype. Found it more reliable and 'smoother' to use, but that's just me.

Everyone needs to take free vs one dollar out of the mix and see which is really better. I have both Swype andv swiftkey instated and Swype seems to be more b accurate. I also have flesky installedn which isn't a Swypev keyboard at all and that's even better even though in don't use it much

I really can't decide. SwiftKey seems like the winner for me. I just wish it had emojis built in and a few more theme options. Wanted to try flesky but it doesn't have any swipe option at all - which is great for one handing

The voice dictation is so good that I have been using it most of the time to enter text.

I agree, I've never used it so much as I do now

In terms of keyboards I prefer Swype, swiftkey just lagged and wasn't as predictable if that makes sense

I was using SwiftKey, but there are a lot of glitches with it. Sometimes the keyboard would not be available until I would quit the message app. I'm not trying out TouchPal which has easier access to Emoji's and numbers.
