Do you bench under XP or Vista (32/64)?

Thanks

XP Home SP2 32 bit, so my 4GB of RAM isn't fully addressable, only about 3.5GB is.

But I'd also have a 2.4GHZ cpu instead of your 2.53GHZ, would that make a difference? And what about if it was only 2GB of ram as well?

Difference is negligible, as most games don't even use 2GB. Maybe a -1, 2 fps difference, but not noticeable.

I can get the Pro Evolution Soccer Demo to test, will report either late tonight or tomorrow. GTA IV, I will be getting it this weekend and will report back on that as well during the weekend. Fallout 3, will be testing this weekend.

Both settings, all 60 fps. It is hitting the frame rate limiter. Sometimes, it may drop to 56fps because of disk usage, but once it's loaded, it shoots back up to 60 fps. The MBP has no problems playing this game smoothly. As for Fallout 3, my test copy was damaged so it cannot be done. Also, the GTA IV is next up on the test bench.

Looking forward to see how new MBP copes with GTA4.

We played it at my friend's house on a rev. A alu 24" iMac with Radeon 2600 and it was barely playable at lowest settings. Don't have any FPS number, but from the looks of it it seemed like 8-20 FPS with 12-15 on average.

Does My MBP 17 " 1st gen Have enuff juice 2 run Mac COD4?

I will be updating 2 Leopard and 4 gigs of Ram hopefully, but before the upgrade of Ram will I be able 2 run Cod4?

COD4 will run fine on it. My friend has iMac Core 2 Duo 2 ghz, 1 GB RAM and Radeon X1600 and he says it flys :)

But you won't be able to upgrade to 4 gigs of RAM - Core Duo Macs are limited to 2 GB.

Thnx xman...

I didn't kno that I was limited 2 only 4 gigs....I swear some of these ppl @ should b fired b/c he an apple gen-ass told me I would be able 2 fit 4 gigs n there....

I didn't see how, but I'm glad I didn't spend $300 on all that ram i wouldn't of used or needed....2gigs should b adequate....thnx for the heads up.

No problem :) You're lucky you posted your intension to upgrade right after I talked with my father about how sad is the 2 GB limit in his 17" Core Duo MBP ;)

Sorry about getting this in so late.

1440x900 @ Low Quality (everything turned lowest setting possible)

Frames: 18-35 fps.

Average: 25 fps

Still highly playable, though. Performance wasn't it's highest as the 9600M GT is on the lower end of the specifications. Completed 4 missions before deciding to call it a day. There were some major install issues though, such as SP2, account management, and random errors, but after that, it worked flawlessly.

I'm awaiting my MBP within next week.
Another question: do you never had any BSOD problems while playing under XP?
(Really many late 08 MBP owners seems to have this BSOD problem -> see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1767221&tstart=0)

A COD4 test playing in OSX would be nice. I heard from several owners, that the 9600 OSX drivers are really worse and not capable to play COD4 in OSX :-(

Only encountered the famed BSOD once. But that was because I was stupid in Crysis, and decided to spawn an insane amount of objects, only to find that it was too much on the CPU and it just shut off.

left 4 dead maxed please!!

could you try it with the 9400m also please?

I do not have Left 4 Dead, so therefore, cannot test. If you want me to test it out, PM me your Steam Account info (if you trust me, you can :) it would help the community out a lot)

9400M doesn't run under Windows. Currently, you can only select the 9600M GT. Hopefully new drivers in the future will allow us to choose or even Hybrid SLi!

Hi itisme

Can you please try Unreal tournament 3.

Sorry Rotsu, but for some reason, UT3 Demo wouldn't install on my Mac via Boot Camp, I tried every possible method, but no ado. Sorry.

It's ok, thanks for your effort :)

curious though, what kind of error?
I'm about to buy the new macbook pro, will be disappointed if this game cant be installed via bootcamp for some reason.

It was a operating system related error. I had XP SP3, and it didn't work for some reason. I'm sure it will work though, if I gave it another day's worth of tries. My friend, has it installed on his Macbook Pro Late 2008. I'll see if I can ask him to get some benchmarks.

I have UT3 and a MacBook, but the games on Steam and it would be an 8gb download
From what I tried through it ran well and looked good, I just can't remember what settings they were other than it being native resolution.

I have ut3 if you have a demo files that I can use to benchmark with.

Can you try this,
1024X768
2x AA
everything to highest

You can do a flyby of a map by using this...

Thanks, now is this a Macbook or Macbook Pro?

I did a 12 bot run on Carbonfire with max setting (5/5) aa off and 16x af (UT3can't set aa).

1024x769 53.82 FPS average, 95.62 percent of time spent > 30 FPS
1440x900 34.98 FPS average, 78.15 percent of time spent > 30 FPS
