Taylor Swift Named Apple Music's Artist of the Year

I liked when Apple used unknown songs on their commercials, and propped new artists up. This just seems like a “what’s a trendy now”, marketing gimmick. Nothing to do with Taylor, but yeah duh she’s had an amazing year. Music has become so one note, it’s frustrating.

When has an unknown new artist ever been named "Artist of the Year" by any company? I'll wait.

Because for a company whose specialty is making obscene amounts of money, they have mad respect for her taking her music back. I do too actually. There are many stories going back decades of artists successfully tearing their own music back from record labels. It's usually only the mega-stars that can pull it off anyway, though.

Realistically, it couldn’t have gone to someone else this year imho. And… Taylor Swift is not my favorite artist, but I don't fully understand the hate towards her music, though I understand it is pretty safe to hate on mainstream artists.

I don't know but coming from Apple you'd think it would have been something Shot on iPhone. They sure seemed to love Olivia Rodrigo this year.

This is just kind of the pattern that makes Apple Music not appealing to me personally. I definitely am not using it for deep cuts, they use it to promote what's popular. I didn't really need their advice to listen to Taylor Swift. I've heard that one from a few places already. Like everywhere I look.

I’m from an area where they were incredibly popular (3hrs from Detroit in Ohio) it was popular in middle school when it came out. I thought it was funny but I had friends that took it seriously lol

She’s 33 and still targets a teen audience. Kinda creepy. Regardless, this isn’t exactly a bold move by Apple. It was going to either be Swift of Beyoncé simply based on the mountains of money each made this year.
