That’s not what they were saying and that’s also not what I was doing. 0/2.The poster is saying commercial success is not a reason to trash an artist or disrespect their music.

At least it's not the Beatles.Bold choice..
Maybe Apple and Spotify should dole out awards for "smaller" artists? It's just about impossible to ignore Swift in 2023 because huge success of the Eras Tour and all those re-recordings has made the nickname for her, The Music Industry, not so far-fetched.Hey Apple, how about promoting smaller artists who need the exposure and have a bit more substance. I guess Apple is desperate for more swifty $$$
Because there are hundreds if not thousands of children with several times the amount talent someone like swift had whose families don’t have the means to up and move to another city just to support their child’s music career. It’s a lot easier to take risks, to be ambitious, and to succeed early, when your parents’ pockets are so deep that one can safely take leaps with the knowledge a net will always appear below them. And this is to say nothing of the educational opportunities afforded to people of her economic class.
Swift is not the hardest worker, but her PR team certainly does seem to be putting in overtime — some of them appear to be doing pro bono work in this very thread

Apparently the Swifter missed me.The thread has been cleaned by mods.
Fair point. I've always wanted to be a billionaire corporate music shill. But to call Taylor Swift's output "music" is like calling Velveeta "Cheese." Some people actually prefer them to the real thing. I even get Velveeta when I order a Philly Cheesesteak! Ordering cheddar or swiss would be like listening to Ella Fitzgerald sing "Dear John." Inappropriate! And if jealousy were money, you'd be the richest person in the world. She has tremendous talent. You don't have to like her music, but to deny she is talented is just petty.
I'm not a huge fan of a lot of acts, but I still recognize their talent and don't disrespect them.
This site has turned into 98% hate. Used to be a positive helpful place.I'm not a fan of hers, but I find the amount of hatred towards her hilarious. I really don't get it.
Exactly. I don't know that I am a "Swiftie" but I got tickets to one of her shows in LA for face value so I went. It was one of the best, if not the best, concert experiences I've ever had.Who did something more interesting than having the biggest tour of all time?
So she can gather background for her next breakup song: "You Big Oblate Spheroid Grabber".Yeah, commerically successful artists are always panned. It's like only destitute indie artists are allowed to be considered good.
Where did I say that’s her fault? Again with the strawmen. And that's Taylor Swift's fault, so you trash her? Who she was born to? And what about after she "made it?" Do you think she became a billionaire right out of the gate? No, she climbed her way to that status as one of the biggest stars in the world, on her own merit. People can get a hand out of the door, but it's what they do with that chance that matters most.
And yes, she is known by everyone who knows her as a VERY hard worker. Like re-recording every album so she can own the rights.
But it's the usual thing - women aren't allowed to do it on their own, they must have had someone help them. Her rich family, her PR team...not her of course.
I'm here because I dislike people being unfair I am having similar arguments over The Marvels movie. Whenever a woman succeeds or is focused on, people get nasty.

Of course, I've never been able to make it through an entire Swift music product, so I'm sure your opinion of her talent is more valid than mine, being a "Swiftie" and all…
9 times out of 10 when someone says that, it is exactly what it is.Not everything is misogyny.
Because what she makes is "music product." Like "cheese food." It's written for the sole purpose of making money.Real thing? And what is "the real thing?" Only things you like? Who are you to judge that? Personal opinion, fine. But why the insults towards her?
Congrats, you just described every professional ever in every line of work. It's written for the sole purpose of making money.
Kanye, you're on MacRumors?Hey, to all Taylor Swift fans: I’m really happy for you, and I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!
Well, if the "hundreds if not thousands" of musical talents that appear on those Voice-Idol-Talent shows my SO watches are any indication, you're wrong to a great degree. Nobody asked Clarkson, Lambert, Hudson, Underwood or Sparks how much their parents were worth.Because there are hundreds if not thousands of children with several times the amount talent someone like swift had whose families don’t have the means to up and move to another city just to support their child’s music career.
