Good evening!
I just wanted to tell you that I am currently having massive health problems and I am on my way to the hospital.

I have had a high temperature for over 9 days and there is no real improvement in sight.
Will be back as soon as Possible...
This is terrible news! You’re health is most important. Hoping for speedy recovery!!

Hello,

Ive got my Titan Ridge in my Mac Pro 5.1 installed, installed OC and Catalina. Got everything running fine. Firmware on the Ridge was flashed with the EFI Firmware from this thread. My Mac doesn't recognize the card at all.
I attached the original firmware from the card so maybe someone can tell what's wrong. BTW card is installed in x4 Slot and both 6-Pin AUX cables are connected.
Is this the blue chip backup?

This is also my issue. Are you a 4,1 flashed to 5,1, or true 5,1?
Hi miztahsparklez - this is a true 5,1

hmm ok wonder what we have in common since our outcome is the same. lol

and take care DSM2, hopefully it is not corona...
Did you try 2x boot?

A. 1x cold boot (power, option key, MacOS) = no drivers yet

B. Apple menu, Reboot

C. 2x warm boot (boot OC)= drivers and TB connection
[automerge]1583934262[/automerge]
this not change the Game because the Firmware do the Job.If you don`t use OC you have the same result.
with your SSDT you have the same as you don`t have installed OC.this SSDT not work.
On PCI you don`t have Intel Thunderbolt. You have Unknow.
With Nico`s SSDT you have Intel Thunderbolt and i think is more funktional as your moded SSDT.
Yes it freez if you start without Option Key.But after Restart it works.
And this is the point to fix. Boot only one time...this is the challange.
Sorry one more question. When you tested my SSDT file did you:
1. replace your EFI folder with mine or
2. did you just replace your SSDT in ACPI folder with mine?

if 2, did you update SSDT file name in your config.plist to point to my SSDT?

if you didn’t update name, it didn’t load any SSDT’s

If you’re willing to test again, would be curious to know if it helps resolve at least freezing issue

Hi, my question goes back to flashing the firmware on the Titan Ridge card.

I modified the ch341a programmer to 3.3v. It meters 3.3v across all poles as in this article (https://www.chucknemeth.com/3-3v-ch341a-modification/) and decided to clamp onto the green chip simply to test the programmer's ability to detect/read. (I didn't want to put it on the blue chip yet to actually flash anything). I was able to connect and save the .bin on the green chip to my computer, so I went ahead and clamped onto the blue chip, making sure that the Pin 1 was clamped on the red wire. The programmer was not able to read or save anything - it didn't even recognize the chip. I moved the clamp back to the green chip and it threw a ton of errors. Any clue on what I'm doing wrong?

I can copy the errors over... but it seems symptomatic of a larger issue.
1. After mod, Did you verify 3.3v on header pins with DMM (per the link)?
2. If everything ok, check continuity, pins 1-8, between SOIC8 clip and connector at end of ribbon cable. I found opens due to poor solder joints on the clip.

Eventually ended up buying a Pomona clip. hopefully you didn’t damage winbond chip.

good luck

Hi foojitsu1 and miztahsparklez,
I just acquired another TR as I thought maybe the first one was a dud.
I flashed it and installed DSM2's OC.
Installed the TR card in slot 4.
Shutdown and then powered up with option key, chose Mojave.
Once booted went to apple menu and select restart. Let it boot the default Mojave. Logged in.
Went to apple menu and select restart. Let it boot to Mojave. Log in. Apple menu restart.
Logged in and still I don't see the card show up in PCI or Thunderbolt sections of Hardware.
Do I need to jumper anything on the card or have anything plugged into the card to make it power up?
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

I have the pin 3-5 jumper installed per instructions earlier in thread.

what device are you connecting?

I’m only testing with Apollo at this time and itneeds to be plugged in and powered on at all times. No Hotplug avail (at least I don’t think).
I also have an elgato TB3 that is hit or miss if it connects. I usually Hotplug connection on 1x boot and shows up on 2x boot. I haven’t tested usb-c flash yet

hope this helps

Thanks foojitsu1!! The jumper!!! This was the problem. I thought I read earlier that the jumper wasn't needed if not booting windows. So happy, now for further testing. I'm just waiting for some adaptors for plugging in hard drives.
Thanks again... cheers.

hey y'all-- My EEPROM programmer finally arrived and I have finally been able to get all this underway. So far I have:

- Flashed Custom Firmware to TR
- Added Jumper to pins 3/5
- Installed DS2M OpenCore

and...it works! Except for one thing..

One of the thunderbolt ports doesn't seem to work? Fortunately I can daisy chain my two thunderbolt devices fine (Elgato TB3 dock + Blackmagic UltraStudio). Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? or if there is a fix? is my card ****ed?

and hot swap seems to be finicky.

Cheers!

I actually didn't have a freezing issue. I knew it was caused by not jumpering 3 and 5 from testing.

Strangely enough, I have removed my PCI SSD card on slot 3 and the titan ridge is now shown with 40gb x1 speed (previously with only the flash, it said 20gb x2) per port with OC and the SSDT file loaded. I wonder if there is some sort of conflict there.

USB 3.1 hot plug still doesn't work with the SSDT file loaded.

I have a 5,1 with a RX580 flashed by MacVidCards. I also have a LG UltraFine 5K that I *really* want to use with it.

According to Amazon reviews, the ASRock Thunderbolt 3 AIC R2.0 card works with the LG UktraFine 5K display. So now the question is, is the ASRock Thunderbolt 3 AIC R2.0 compatible with the 5,1?

If it involves booting into Windows first, then I’m not interested. Also, I only need my LG UltraFine 5K to work. I don’t care about using it for other thunderbolt devices as I don't have any.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

GC Alpine Ridge does work for this, I've had that exact setup. Requires two mini-dp to dp cables from the 580 to the Alpine Ridge, and then your LG 5K into the TB3 port on it

EDIT: No windows required

given this behavior it seems a bit odd that they don't just sell an adapter that is standalone (like active DP adapters)
Meaning an external hockey puck type thing that has 2x mDP input and 1x TB3 output for a display.

jumper was not necessary in my system booting into windows first. With jumper I can use my usbc drive to with 1x boot. It’s just apollo that’s 2x. I think the problem is with the adapter now... what thunderbolt adapters are you guys using? The Apple one?

My guess is cost, and addressable market.

Without PCIe, this puck isn't really a thunderbolt device, I suspect things like logo/verification get weird if it doesn't fully support Thunderbolt. So you can do two things: Add a TB3 port and make it a daisy chain box, or add PCIe lanes via some sort of extender. If you are doing the latter and need a PCIe slot anyways, you can just bundle everything on a single PCIe card like Gigabyte does. If doing the former, it limits you to devices that already have TB3.

Put this thing at the likely cost of around the same as a TB3 mini dock and it probably be too risky for companies to pursue.

That said, eGPU cases and and probably should integrate something like this.

I have an elgato TB3 and Apollo twin mkI. The Apollo connects on 2x warm boot but my elgato has to be hotplugged on 1x boot in order to connect on 2x. No luck with hot swap for me as well.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know.

I have another version that I can PM if you want to try. I took the same hackintosh ssdt and only copied the ACPI path from DSM2 SSDT. still 2x boot but has been stable enough for me to reload all my audio sw for now.

the good thing is I’m not dealing with freezing issues.
