Scores dont really mean much in this game. It has, by a large margin, the worst AI I have ever seen in a poker game. It is 100% luck. The computer folds, raises or calls in a fairly arbitrary way. It seems to bet based on what it KNOWS is coming, not based on the odds at the time. You raise 5X the big blind with AK suited and get raised all in by a computer opponent with 73 off. The cards come 73J73. This happens regularly. You will also see the computer fold at weird times as well.

To me, it is a fun idea but the AI is so bad that this game has nothing to do with poker other than helping you learn the rules. As an actual game, it is terrible.

I have to agree with this.

Well I don't think too many people are playing this game to get ready for a pro poker career. Most of us just play it for fun. I think it's great.

I'm just crushing these games now, the AI is very easy to play against once you learn how each player plays.

Although, they do get lucky sometimes and leave you bummed about a bad beat. Im winning at a 20% clip, aint bad considering my winnings. :D

Does each player have a different style, or are they all the same program? Like, do Desperado and Lars tend to play more daringly and bid high more often even when they don't have good cards?

In other news, I lost a bunch in a row and now I'm down to $30k. :(
After being near broke for a few days, I played enough Cruise Ship and Paris to get myself back to about $100k, then a lot of Paris, Ice Bar and Roppongi to get back to $300k. I felt daring and tried one round of Dubai, and managed to come in 3rd place! I'm up to $700k in winnings now. :)

<3 Roppongi.

I just went from around $700k to $1,029,000, to break $1M for the first time. It feels like quite an accomplishment - I remember playing in the Garage and Aquarium at the beginning and wondering if I'd ever get up to $1M.

I finally beat the game. :)

Here's the last hand on the final table of Dubai:

I play in landscape mode too much to pick up on the tells -- has anyone figured out a definitive "tell" for any of the characters?

OK...I completely agree with this. I just had my ass handed to me in Roppongi. Lost 15 straight times until I was out of cash. One the second table with 4 or 5 players left I was dealt two aces. One of the players went all in with 12K which I matched. He was dealt a 2,4. The flop came out with A,K,8. I have three aces. Then out comes a 3,5 and I lose.

Next game I match another all-in with a pair of Kings. Players has a pair of two's. After the flop I have three Kings. So what happens? A 2 on the turn and a 2 on the river. WTF.

If it was only those two times I would chalk it up to bad luck...but it happens way too often. If there were really "tells" then I would say the point of this game is not to play a fair game of poker...it is to learn the player's tells. But I am calling BS on the tells.

Winning of $18,225,000 so far

In order to win you need to apply basic tournament poker strategies..tight play, and aggressive play. You need to re-raise and shove, and hope you don't get caught.

If someone tells me how to take a picture of the screen, I will post it.

Thanks.

If you press the two buttons (home button and on/off button) at the same time and then quickly release them, the screen should flash quickly to indicate that it's taken a picture. You can then email it to yourself from the photo album.

I mean the best hand he won with, A through 10 of Clubs, looks like a Royal Flush to me, instead of just a Straight Flush.

Technically a Royal Flush is just an Ace High Straight Flush, so I think I understand why it just says that.

The game does have a notion of Royal Flush though, since I've seen one of the computer players get one, and someone on the previous page had one. If I ever get one, I'll get to check out whether it's called a Royal Flush or a Straight Flush in the statistics window. I'm at 525 games so far ($6.5M winnings), and my best hand is still only that 7-J straight flush.

Just hit a royal flush! :D But my best hand calls it a straight flush.

How to Consistently Beat the Game

The game is fairly easy to consistently beat (cash 35% of the time). If anyone is interested I will write up some of the guidelines and strategies I use. I am at the point now, where it has become fairly robotic. I still get caught, but I am up to $28,675,000 in winnings.

If anyone is interested, just let me know, and I will write it up.

Your %'s aren't really that great. Before I got frustrated and basically quit playing, I was 22% first, 12% second and 11% third. Basic play is to fold anything out of position that isnt a high pair or A-10 suited or better, until the field is thinned out. After that, aggression pays off, re-raise all-in on any raise if you have anything Q-7 or better. They will fold most the time.

Don't now the tells but..

I don't know the tells because I only play in landscape. I can't see what position I am in when holding upright. There are definitely some do's and don'ts for the game.

The concept of folding everything out of position unless you have A-10 or better will not work consistently, but the re-raising all in does work a lot of the time.

Attached is a picture of my screen right now.

Wow 73M! I'm only at 18.8M at the moment.

I found that sometimes re-raising all in does work, but then occasionally the computer will have Ace pair or King pair or something and call, then I lose a lot of money.

I just bought this yesterday and my friend who has a touch also bought it, for 4 hours we played through wi-fi. great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
