No matter what settings I use this game keeps bottoming out.... It slows to a crawl and I mean >10 fps!!! Completely unplayable. Works with High settings at native resolution on my windows 7 bootcamp !!! Come on Valve!!!

Glad I'm not the only one. This is very disappointing. Ep1 and Ep2 ram really great on my system I was really excited.

Please post if your having similar issues!!! Include your specs!
I'm posting a link to this thread on the Steam forums.

Valve will take a look and hopefully be able to see a trend and help us out.

Runs terrible on my hackintosh as well.. I figured it was just because it is not a genuine apple.. But seems people are having issues with the game on other systems.
I can run it fine at 1920x1080 with every thing set High/Very high and 8af/aa in windows.- Get around 50-60 fps constant
OSX 10.6.3 I run it at 1360x760 (or even 1280x720) with no AA/Af and medium texture settings... I get about 30FPs and drops down to 15.

yeah same.. i'm on a macbook pro with the 9600.. I'm really hoping that 10.6.4 is going to change that immensely ..

It's terrible for me. Portal was playable. If somehow my Bootcamp failed and could never work again then yea - I'd play Portal on OSX. The HL series and TF2 run quite badly at the moment.

Funnily enough since the TF2 update earlier today my PC version is running a lot faster. I could even enable HDR and performance wasn't affected.

UPDATE!!!!!

Thanks to some help on the Steam forums and some tinkering I have come to a temporary fix!!!!

Turn off AA
Turn off Motion Blur
Turn off Vertical Sync
Turn off Color Correction

IMPORTANT: Than Quit the game and re launch it!!!

Right know there is a bug. If you change your settings and do not quit the game and re open it you will experience the slide show performance!!!

Now running 40-90 FPS!!!!!
Wont need the BootCamp Partition After ALL!!!!!!

Well you shouldn't have to turn off everything for the game to simply run smoothly.

And I shouldn't have to change the density of my oil to make my car work in the winter time, but if i don't it won't run.

some TF2 is better than none at all.

This was with HIgh on almost everything else and native resolution so it still looks good. :)

This is nice. I'd still rather play it on Windows since I don't like mouse acceleration :/

Well I'll be. I tried turning all those off before and thought it was the port -- but I never tried restarting the application. Everything's running smoothly except for a few hiccups in framerate during heavy battles. And this is with all the suggested settings except for those four. Almost runs as good as it does in Boot Camp now!

Color correction used to cause a lot of issues in Windows. If I had to guess, it's what's wrong now…

But turning off hte other stuff works too

Yeah mine works terrible too, but does anyone else's sound not work? Mine just stopped during the first game I played on OSX and it won't come back.
