I am really getting sick and tired of Mobile Me. It is just impossible to upload my webpages via iWeb. My success rate is maybe 1/100. I have tried it so many times already, only to receive a message that it is impossible to do so "at the moment".

I travel a lot - maybe Mobil me would work if I sat right next to the .me Server but I doubt it.

My experience so far:

It is slow, sluggish and basically unusable for me. Money wasted.

Sorry for my rant, I am a bit upset, I admit.

No apologies necessary. MobileMe/.Mac is a great example of something that is a brilliant idea, but is poorly executed. The entire time I had MobileMe, I was never able to upload any data to my iDisk greater than a megabyte or two. Initially I thought it was my connection, but then I changed ISP to a 4MB up/4MB down service and discovered many others were having the same issues.

It's a travesty that Apple actually charges for it.

Ditto on the same sentiments.

I tried it during the trial plus all the extra months they gave for free. It's a good concept, but too bad it's doesn't work consistently and generally unreliable. I now discovered Dropbox to sync & store files and being that I own a Macbook Pro and iPhone, I really don't need to worry about keeping my calendar and contacts in sync, since iTunes does it for me anyway. As for getting mail, I just use the email app on my iPhone when on the go. MobileMe is completely unneccessary.

I really love mobile me and the issues I have had are not that bad. I too have heard of dropbox but that is nothing like mobile me. It is for files only. I also am not too sure to trust this company's servers for my files. Now Apples servers could also be a risk but I just don't trust dropbox

Lucky me. No problems whatsoever with MobileMe. Email to the iPhone works great, uploading to iWeb works great.

I really tried hard to like it. But for me, it just won't cut it. I came to the conclusion, that outside USA it is basically unusable. Wherever I travel to (for instance, I am in Germany right now, logged on to a VERY fast network), I can't update my Webpage. Last time I was successful was 4 weeks ago!

Unfortunately by looking at this forum, it seems that I am not alone with my problems. Shame really.

In the meantime, I reserved a domain of a name I liked and parked my webside on a server for much less money and upload my files with Cyberduck. And for the Mobile Me Gallery... A well, it is rudimentary at best, so no big loss for me. ;)

And while I am typing this, I clicked onto iDisk to check, what files were there. It took more than one minute to show me the root Directory. Give me a break!

I too tried really hard to like it, but found that it was frustrating and inconsistent. I hope that Apple fixes it some day and makes it so inexpensive and compelling that no Apple user would imagine living without it.

im really sorry to hear how disappointing mobileme has been for many of the people here on the forums.

the only problem ive had with mobileme in the past was when my 3g would not sync correctly with mobileme, but within a week after the 3g's introduction, my problem was resolved. i am in the USA though, so it might be correct, stating that MOST of the mobileme issues might be issues outside the US borders?

since then i have not had any issues with the cloud servers at all. i use two idisks regularly, but i do not use iweb to host any type of website.

mobileme still seems as if it is a hit and miss system.
i hope apple can fix this soon...

Yeah...it is kind of expensive compared to other things out there but it just works for me. I use it for my website of my daughters photos and the ease of creating the site using iWeb.

And while I am on it... I am trying now as I type to upload something onto idisk. I get a blistering max. upload speed of 4.5 KB/s - if I am lucky. Finder tells me, it should be uploaded in 27 hours or so...

The whole thing is just hopeless. And what is the point of Mobile Me, if it can't be used during travel?

While I really like my Mac and the software which comes with it, but Mobile Me is nothing to write home abut.

Always synced fine for me and uploaded well. Maybe I'm in the minority but I like the way it works...

Was a paying customer of the .mac service for 10 years. Initially thought awesome syncing over the air with mobile me I am in for life. But their service just plain sucks. I understand if it was free. But, to pay 100+ a year for a service that is unreliable is unacceptable.

I cancelled my service I am currently paying for a exchange hosted service
for all my contact info (email, calendar etc) and using sugar sync for data.
Combined a year I am paying cheaper then I would with mobileme and I personally think my combination tops mobilme in every sense.

Funny that i resorted to "activestink" but is more reliable than mobilefail.

Goodbye apple. Your internet mac experience is truly a huge failure.

Mobile Me is a disaster. On the occasions it works, it is very slow and cumbersome. When it doesnt work, it causes duplicates, does not sync accurately, and sometimes data just disappears, only to mysteriously reappear later.
I sync two work desktops, my laptop and an iphone, and depending on which happens to sync, often get weird calendar data.
Spoken to Apple, and was told they do not advocate Mobile Me for business use, only for "personal use". What!!!
I love Mac, big supporter, but this software is one of their worst offerings.

Wait for MobileMe 2.0 ...

I bailed after being unable to sync either of my Macs because of the dread inconsistent data error. After a few rounds with Apple, I was told that I had to delete the data in the cloud and start over. Since the cloud was updated from my iPhone, I would have lost all of my changes. Given this, I decided to try the interways service since I was going to get hosed anyway and it works okay.

I am hopeful that MobileMe will eventually get it right, but I am unwilling pay for it until it does. InterWays has a number of valuable features (to me) including sync behind my corporate firewall and the ability to dump the cloud data to a local file for back up. I am not thrilled with the InterWays servers being in Germany and I keep getting e-mail from them indicating that the company is about to mutate into a new form. It is unclear if this is a good or bad thing.

Many folks are not having these issues and find MM to be a fine service. I believe that most of us having issues are in the minority. Since all updates seem to have ceased for the moment, I can only assume that they feel no rush to solve the problems of a limited few.

My only complaint is the idisk upload speed and the idisk web interface. It's piss poor slow and it doesn't work all the time. I'm really satisfied with the sync to my iPhone though.

I personally have had little problems thus far, but how they can charge $100 a year for a service that works only when it wants to is ridiculous. It'd be nice if you were charged once and had it for as long as you wanted it but it is Apple we're talking about here

Apologies to those who are having a nightmare of an experience. Apple needs to re-evaluate their online presence and get bugs sorted before they get in too deep (iwork.com, ilife.com?).

For what I use Mobile Me for, I like it. iCal is the only online calender that I like so that and the email are worth it for me. I plan on getting an iPod Touch so it'll work nicely with that too. I just wish the web-based mail and calendar was faster. I am happy with it but I can see why people would not be.

I'm with you, I use it with my business, the ability to make an appointment or add a contact in the field and have it automatically sent to my Mac or added on my Mac and sent to my phone without thinking is worth every penny for me.

MobileMe inspired my MR avatar back when they switched (or tried to....) from .Mac to MobileMe. I won't be renewing it when it runs out.

Back when Steve admitted they had problems with it and said they were going to fix it....... well I guess now that he's on medical leave the person in charge of MobileMe is probably slacking off, knowing he's got more time to ignore it.

They should have left .Mac alone. Mobile Me isn't a viable option for me (i pay for the family pack) as i can't access it at work (we use IE6 and i have no choice in the matter). The website now is horrendous.

iDisk outside the USA is utterly utterly useless it's a travesty to be paying for something that can only be described as a poor e-mail account. Their junk mail filtering is pants too.

I have setup Exchange 2003 on a Windows Server with IMF and it's a lot better at filtering out spam than MobileTurd

I have disabled the auto-renew feature and will not be renewing my subscription.

It's a shame because the tight integration into OSX / iPhone could be so much better, guess it works in the USA but for us not living there it pure sucks.

Same here. My experience with it has been so good that it almost makes me think the problems some are still having are user error. That's probably not the case, but I've just never had a major issue. In fact, I've had more issues with Gmail recently than I have had with MobileMe mail.
