Unless all this media chatter about United looking to sack ETH was just something the media drew up just to sell papers because it was the Independent and the Guardian who started the sack rumours which got the attention of all the other media outlets and not once was there anything official from United. Even when the press said United were talking to managers there was no actual evidence that United had ever talked to other managers. When I look back on it, the only official statement United made about ETH is that they were happy with him but yet the press kept pushing the narrative that United were going to sack ETH. The press even tried to get Sir Jim Ratcliffe involved because as soon as he became part owner of the club he never made any official statement about ETH which the press picked up on and started rumours that Sir Jim did not actually like ETH and wanted him gone.
