Yeah the Irish way of dealing with it is to moan loudly , then roll over and take it... We have had austerity budgets year after year and compared to likes of Greece & Italy where there were strikes and protests, the Irish just grimaced and bared it.

But I thought the Irish love to fight, is that not true? :D

How much it was an M8 in Taiwan ?

I forget the exact amount in NTD, but I remember in USD it would be $703 for the 16GB model and you get tax refunded (around 5%).

Also came with a free screen protector, HTC wallet, and HTC One espresso set (!).

What does this mean going forward for HTC?
The M8 is one of the best designed eye catching phones around.....
http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20140426-700079.html

Probably means very little. Yes he was the chief designer ... but when your in an organisation of 100+ designers on your team - and all working from a same design hymn sheet / ethos - it means little. Indeed since he has been with HTC since 2008, one could make an argument that he has presided / been partially responsible for many of the designs / handsets that failed before the M7/M8. So his record sheet is not clean.

For example Apple didn't implode when Scott Fortstall was given the boot .. Somebody steps up and takes over. Not every change on a board has to be a bad one.

One day Johnny Ive's will retire and move on .... I suspect despite mass panic and people declaring end of the world scenarios - Apple will likewise continue.

I think people like to latch on to news like this and instantly perceive it as 'bad' news when in actual fact industry is always changing and people are always moving on. In a way the change in heads of departments like design are often good as it allows fresh thinking and new ideas on where design philosophy is going rather than just allowing it to grow stale.

So yeah. HTC shook up its board big time last year - and I have no doubt people will continue to come and go. It's just the nature of the industry.

Looks like the HTC M8 is getting even better sound enhancements. A new color option just for Sprint?
The most unique announcement today is the release of a special HTC One M8 model that has been tuned to work with Harman Kardon sound enhancements.
The three initiatives are meant to work in concert: Spotify supplies the music, Spark ensures it gets a delivers a fast and reliable connection, and Harman/Kardon builds up the audio quality so the music will sound better than the compressed files transferred through data services. The Harman component is the most important of that trio for anyone who listens to music, and it holds up its end of the bargain. I do not consider myself an audiophile, but I am definitely able to notice the difference between a high-quality audio file and one that's low-quality. The HTC One M8 helps make that a non-issue.

Chris Nacca just did a video and camera test... To be honest results are moot to me as I NEVER take a photo or shoot video in the dark / low light.

I'm liking what I'm reading about the One Mini 2.

Basically the same as the Moto G but with 13Mpx camera (which can record 1080P videos, unlike the G) and microSD (16GB max on the G. Not enough for me).

Hope it still has the on screen buttons of the M8, good battery life and the new BlinkFeed. Comes with 4.4.2 and will get maybe two more updates I guess.

Only downside is 1GB RAM, although I would assume better optimised than TouchWiz on my S3, so it could also be a win...

What was the price of the original One Mini when it was released?

I'm kinda excited :D:D

Don't want a phone as big as the new flagships.

I still can't believe it has 9mp more ...... :)

My M8 rarely if/ever trips over 1gb used. Even with several apps open I'm usually sitting at 730-850mb tops.

The mini was around €350 here unsubsidised. That's significant price increase over the moto g price however.

I do not know how much I will accomplish in the store but I want to check out the Harmon Kardon edition at Sprint tomorrow.

Surely someone else here must have audio a priority over a camera. I listen almost alll day long! :)

Isn't the Harman/Kardon edition not hitting Sprint stores until the 9th?

Correct--online only tomorrow, in stores on May 9. I personally think it's a good looking design/color scheme and paying an extra $30 to get $150 headphones is a sweet deal. Having to use Sprint though would be a deal breaker for me personally.

Really nice. Great size.

Hope it's less slippery than M8 being smaller and easier to hold.

So I've had my Sprint M8 for 13 days now and am absolutely head over heels for this thing. At first I was getting a bit of cold feet and wanting to go back to my Note 3, but holy **** this thing is amazing.
