They had gotten rid of their reserve inventory and had units for walk-in customers. So I go in and the guy says they are very low on supply and he will only sell to those at his discretion (is that allowed). So basically I had to argue why I deserved an iPad and it was up to him he wanted to sell it to me. I highlighted reasons why I needed it and he even made me show him my GPA and current courseload. I couldn't believe it. Ultimately, he said I dont need it since I already own an iPod Touch, and iPhone, and a MacBook Pro.

did you ask to speak to management? seems pretty disrespectful? the fact that you needed justification is absolutely unacceptable.

No. For the purposes of a gradepoint, an A+ counts the same as an A or an A-: it's just an A. Or, rather let me put that another way--post a link for a school that does this. This is more than a little hard to believe. Stores exist to sell things; not selling things and maintaining a lot of inventory is not in their best interest. The only reasons I've seen a sale refused is a) where it would be illegal to make the sale (selling alcohol to under-aged or intoxicated people, for example) or b) where the customer is being abusive and are asked to leave.

College has been awhile ago but they never had A+, any of them.

mine did but it was valued the same as an A. An A- though was counted as a 3.67

my hs did not have weighted grades either. i think its a silly practice

How can they refuse to sell you a product? How is that even legal?

I turn customers away all the time. I don't discriminate because of race, religion, creed, ect. I just only select a handful of customers to do business with every month or two.

That being said, I think this story is bunk.
