almost every case will scratch the chrome bezel when not properly cleaned, dust particles that are get caught between surfaces do the damage ;)

Having had 3 cases I find the Speck hard shell, urethane inside lining the best. Great protection, the hard shell slides in and out of your pocket easily and yet you can turn it over and the raised protrusion of urethane prevents it from sliding.

Just noticed some horrendous scratches on the back and bezel from my ifrogz case, and my phone's just one month old!

Oh someone, please let me know if there is a case that has the following:
- a snug fit
- some shock protection on the inside (without worsening heat issues)
- allowing for easy removal for docking
- that covers the chrome bezel fully and does not scratch the back either!

Ideally it will be a hard case but also thin form-factor.

I've read through so many posts in this 3-year old thread that I'm pretty frustrated. The closest thing seems to be the incase slider, but it's been around since 2007... after nearly three years, is this still the best solution?

I'm using the CapsuleRebel M from Switcheasy. I think it bring out the inner Darth Vader in me. :D

OK, this isn't a hard case, but it's by far been the best case that I've used that meets all of the other requirements you listed-- either the iSkin Solo or Solo FX (or one of the many QUALITY knockoffs available) or the Incipio NGP. I've been using a variety of them basically since I got my 3GS and the back of my phone and the bezel are pristine (everywhere except the bottom of the bezel, and that was caused by careless docking, not by any of the cases and not from everyday normal use with the case on). Shock protection is adequate & scratch protection is outstanding. I haven't noticed any heat buildup as a result of using them, and while they're not as thin as, say, an Incipio Feather, they're still pretty darn thin and easy to get in and out of pockets (and don't collect lint). And they couldn't be easier to remove for docking.

The Incase Slider is a decent case but can cause significant scratching on the back of the phone. I have one but have only used it sporadically because I'm afraid of the scratching. Other people have used them and not had any issue with scratching, but I've read too many horror stories that came from the other end of the spectrum.

Thanks, this is EXACTLY the info I was looking for!

I went for the plain ol' silicone case. Best case in the world.

My past two cases have been agent 18, Ecoshields. Right now I'm rockin the black. With my black 3GS. Black on black. Murdered out haha;)

I've always like these cases because it doesn't cover the full bezel it just shows the front of the bezel which I like because I have a full screen as wheee as incase or whatever other case will cover the bezel and I cannot fully slide my finger off the screen. Also there is silicone bumpers on the inside of the case so no scratching on the phone appears. Bumpers also on the left and right side of the outer parts of the phone helps give extra grip on the sides. The sleep button is also covered by a silicone rubber same goes with the volume buttons.

I think some people are paying way over the odds for cases that dont even do their job. Which is not to make your phone look good but to protect it. Anyone know where I can get an Iboy case from I have been looking for ages

I have this PDO Silk Slider Case, feels really nice, protects every edge of the iPhone and doesn't make it fat, it's easy to take off but won't fall off nor detach in your pocket like usual silicone cases

The best iPhone case i've had but it's not the same as having it naked

God I just can't decide. You guys have given some great suggestions, but I just can't decide on which to get. I have an Otterbox defender and its a great case don't get me wrong, but its just to big, and also I have the Invisishield on my 3Gs and it left indentions in the protector on the top corners and bottom.

I am looking for something smaller. I also love a belt clip so I am probably going to get the Visionclip2. I really like that one. I have found out that it works with most of the Switcheasy cases and also with the Speck Candyshell well, so that is what I am looking at.

Switcheasy Capsule Rebel
Switcheasy Rebel Serpent
Speck Candyshell

Which of those 3 do I get?!!

No way, way to many people are reporting the clips breaking, and I am a fat person, my belly hangs over my belt, I know I will break mine!!

I've had mine since October, and both the case and the clip are in perfect condition.

Amazon's customer ratings is 4/5 stars for 152 ratings. That's pretty damn good in my books.

Regarding your broken clip photos: most of the time, the people that post complaints about products are usually a vocal minority. The ones that have no problems are usually never heard from.

I Have to agree with this post. I am also overweight and mine works just fine. Have had it for 9 months or so. I do not wear it on my belt though, I clip it to the edge of my pocket. Clip and case are still like new except for a little wear spot I noticed on the back bottom of the case.

A lot of times cases like this and people posting are abusing the equipment and try to get a freebie because they broke it being stupid like over extending it.

I still recommend this case and clip.

maybe the innocase2 (case) fit iskin's holster or visionclip2... sedio's holster may be okay but if he heard more than a few complaints it can be smart to look around for alternatives.

I'll bet that there's more satisfied seidio clip owners than unsatisfied owners.

Just because someone took a picture of their broken clip and put it on the internet, doesn't mean that it's a rampant issue.

I completely agree; I have been a long time lurker on this forum but had to register to defend this case.

I only bought one due to this forum, after 30 cases over the last few years the Seidio Innocase II is my number one case; I even bought it in more than one colour.

Best case? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

It's obvious from all the discussion that the 'best case' is one that suites your eye and lifestyle. Some people like to have it handy and on the go, other like to stash it away. Some people like to make a fashion or political statement, other like to keep it minimalist. Whatever your fancy, you might like the cases (and stands) that you can find here -- http://mjdinsmore.etsy.com. They aren't made of plastic so they're durable (suits the minimalist) and they're made from reclaimed and recycled wood (political statement / Earth friendly.

Since Earth Day is right around the corner, think about the oil that's used to manufacture and in your plastic case. :)

Love the case, im not a fan of adding bulk to my phone so i usually had the very thin feathery cases from incipio or case-mate but the chromed/mirror trim around the phone was taking a bit of beating so i dediced to add a bit more protection while keeping the bulk to a minimum. I have to say i love the case, the inside of it, which mates with the back of the iphone has like a suede padding and the case encloses the phone just enough to cover the mirror trim. All controls and ports are exposed and not covered by the material. The material i have to say feels really really smooth(silky as described). Gotta say the second i got it i wanted to order another color(got black). The other good thing is that i got the screen protector as offered by many other cases but this one(like many other as well) has the two paper tabs to peel the back then the front.. i gotta say its the first time in a year that i've been able to put one of these on without bubbles. Very happy customer.
