Hmm...

Conversative update to the A6. Always liked the design of the C7. Looking forward to checking out the new tech.

RIP MMI knob :(
I'm sure there's other knobs in the car you can toy around with.
[doublepost=1519872842][/doublepost]I do like the wheels. I love the throwback to the old school wheel design. Black inner, natural silver outer rim. Suncoast does a sweet Sport Classic replica wheel reminiscent of the older wheel choices from decades past. The Sport Classic wheels look great on just about every non-SUV Porsche, though.

My poor Golf really struggled tonight to get up the big hill to where I live.
As soon as I lost momentum I'd had it. Trouble is the old start in second in snow doesn't work on a steep hill. No matter how careful I was with the clutch.

For the record, I was going to photochop the exteriors with red mirrors

What about a red shift lever, pedal covers, and tyre valve stem caps?

It doesn’t matter how well a certain color interior ages, it is just going to get old anyways. Besides, I just use red and black Hawaiian floral print seat covers.

I’m thinking of installing a new hard drive in my E60’s CIC iDrive. A regular hard drive, not an SSD- and a 30gb an old TiVo to replace the existing 80gb. I just can’t get this hard drive to line up with the screws. I’m thinking of using a magnet instead.

Ahhh... what memories.

And a fourth competitor has shown up to lay claim to our second car. A lot of it is based on rumors and spy shots.

On the Sport Turismo: I like the look of it. I wasn't so hot about the Panamara's interior. Mainly the control surfaces. Call me old fashioned, but I like switches and knobs. The digital screens are certainly cleaner but they're more distracting than useful.

Installing New BBK 85MM Throttlebody soon on the GT (Over 80 MM Stock). For as large as it is, actually relatively lightweight with the 356 aluminum construction. The only drawback is once installed, the ECU has to cycle through a “Re-learn” process, which may or may not affect the Bama Tune, but looking into that. Other car forums are stating no problems will arise, but will follow up with my performance shop on this. Otherwise, it looks and feels of BBK quality. Reports are positive with others saying significant throttle response, 10-15 HP Gain (With tune), smoother idle, and notable draw of air, which apparently you can audibly hear the sound, which is interesting.

Install pictures with other modifications later:

Yeah, it's like you're already "all in" on the size of the car, and most of the design - and the worst thing about the Panamera (non-ST) is the rear, that gets corrected, and on top of it, adds a little more utility to the vehicle (I'm assuming more "trunk" space, though this is pure speculation on my part).

OK, I don't like to __speculate__ when hard data is available :D

Panamera ("standard")
Rear luggage compartment volume (w/ seats folded) 47.3 ft³
Rear luggage compartment volume 17.6 ft³

Panamera (Sport Turismo)
Rear luggage compartment volume (w/ seats folded) 49.0 ft³
Rear luggage compartment volume 18.3 ft³

That's awful compared to the E. Which boasts about 65 cubic feet in total, seats up is still significantly bigger than the P car. Which surprises me because you'd think they'd be about the same. On the other hand, I won't be driving it, but two wagons means bigger Costco runs. And that's always a plus.

Wouldn't the P car be classified as a four door shooting brake? Because it's been done by other German marques. This is a perfect time for Caddy to redesign their CTS-V and pump out a new wagon. The new CTS-V hits a lot of rights compared to prior versions, but the dual screens and angular, dated design kill any appeal it could have, especially at its MSRP.

... but then you'd have to drive a Mercedes. o_O
I don't mind especially when it's got a powerful engine. The Sport Turismo is nice and I'll give credit to Auto for suggesting it way back. The controls are jarring. I'm not too fond of the future MBUX system either. It's too much for me. Then again, the Panamara won't be for me. If I was interested in the lineup, I'd get the Turbo model. Both models will probably be unique given the wagons generally don't sell much as their counterparts. Though from a feature and luxury aspect, you can do a lot more with the Porsche, and I believe the sound system is a notch above the MBZ premium version of the base Burmester system offers. The Panamara's captain seats are a bit more comfortable. The 18 way seats we tried do not mesh well with me. And the AMG performance seats make my back ache. Not terribly nice on the tush either.

Let's not forget my love affair with the three pointed star.

If this were my chosen car, I'd likely get a Cayenne. Same weird touch system to a point, but it's an SUV.

Edit: I've got a novel idea. Let's get hieveryone to buy us all a Sport Turismo. He loves to flash his dough around. PTS colors for everyone!

I'm a Bigg SUV Guy (not wannable ) Since my Cadillac is left behind (Canda) I'm thinking of new bigg Suv like this :-

2018 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR
It's said to have a 450 horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 that makes 500 lb-feet of torque.
IMG_0057.JPG

Watched the Doug video for that. Ford really outdid themselves with it (apart from those hideous wheels). The only complaint was the rear entertainment screens. For its weight and power output, the MPG is pretty damn good. Definitely a nice car. Though I suspect most of the sales will go to fleet/livery.

For large SUVs, I'm very interested in seeing the next gen GL/GLS and how the X7 will perform. The X7 is massive and overshadows the bucktooth kidney grille it'll sport. Going back to Lincoln, a lot of their new cars, such as the Continental, are done nicely. I really like that color but the mottled blue they offer is hideous. Really like some of the sharp creases and the smooth shoulder the Navigator offers. It may be too early to say this, but I feel this car will age gracefully. I do wish they offered the headliner and pillars in a dark color which would intensify the light interior offerings and make it feel more roomy than it already is.

For non fleet/livery, I've got a good idea of who the buyers of this would be.

No question about it, if I were buying a Panamera, it would be the Sport Turismo.

Please bring your Sport Turismo to the DCoA summer meet-up.

On a serious note, are you still looking at the MDX sport hybrid?

Was nice knowing you, DT.

Well, I'm _OK_ with a sporty-ish hybrid, no charging, no hassle, just better MPG/performance :) Plus, the Sport-H has different suspension tuning with more active electronics, a few exterior tweaks, the 7-speed DCT vs. the 9-speed auto (see below ...)

On a serious note, are you still looking at the MDX sport hybrid?

You know, it has not left my radar just yet. The wife wants to do the new ride around her birthday in a few months (kind of for fun), and is also interested in actually going to check these out in advance, so there's plenty of time to source the exact config.

Anyway, yeah, it continues to appeal to me for a number of reasons. I also semi-recently (funny you just mentioned this), was re-reading some details about the Sport model, and general MDX specs for '18, and I didn't realize a few of the safety items that are "must have" are now standard (all models), and the couple of additional items come with the Tech Package (which is automatically included with the Sport).

Cost aside (at the end of the day, it's probably close enough where it doesn't matter), some of the major this-vs-that looks like:

MDX Sport Hybrid
Sportier
Quicker
(probably) better build/fit/finish
(possibly) less service concerns
3rd row seats (this is actually a little more interesting than we first considered)
Design more sleek/sporty/car-ish

GC High Altitude
(way) more tow capacity
Better offroad
Few more luxury items at the comparable price/package
Dealer within 15 minutes (Acura 45+ minutes of crappy driving)
Design more rugged/SUV-ish

Actually, I take that back. Mostly. I never saw the MDX and its sibling as sporty but this new model looks really nice. Not to mention the second row captain's chairs. Though is the 7 DCT new for this model year? I recall the ZF9 being the goto transmission for a lot of the Acuras. Honda offered it in some models but dropped it because it's problematic. FWIW, you can get your Acura serviced at a Honda dealership. The GC is nice, too. I mean, both look great with the saddle interior (or brown with the GC). But the second row captain's chairs are great. I can imagine it being more comfortable for DD than a bench row. I think if we ever went down the SUV route in the future, 2nd row captains are a must for the DSs. It's a damn shame that Toyota/Lexus is dragging their feet on CarPlay and Android Auto, otherwise their Lexus SUVs, specifically the NX and RX would be flying off the lots faster than they are now. Especially with the third row long wheelbase RX coming out.

As a west coaster, when I see the word hybrid, I tend to shudder a little because I dream of Priuses. There were about 40 of them at Costco the other week. Though the MDX SH looks nothing like I thought it would.

Get the saddle interior with gray metallic exterior.

Preparing for spring, as I wanted to try new cleaning/detailing product(s) this year for my vehicles. Car Guys continuously receives exceptional praise for their products. So I’m switching over from Meguiars to Car Guys. Purchased their entire kit from Wheel cleaning, Super Cleaner, Plastic restorer, and Liquid Wax/Hybrid Wax.

Another new product I’m trying with Chemical Guys is ‘Black Light’ finish. Not cheap at all, But this was recommended to me as I am heavy into detailing. Basically it’s main purpose is to provide a really deep wet shine, specifically for black cars. It helps to protect against water spots, UV Solar days, fading, and also assist with any type of of swirls and scratches to help diminish those. I think what I look forward to most using this product, is the reviews have said if you have a black car, this gives the vehicle a rich and vibrant look to the paint, enhancing the shine dramtically (Post waxing).

Bold: I was excited by this prospect, but I'm not seeing anything that corroborates warranty work (specifically) at Honda vs. Acura. I saw a thread on an MDX forum (just a quick general search this morning) that said _maybe_, certainly services that are paid, not sure about free maintenance[?] Interesting though, I'll do a little more research (I hadn't even considered this, I sort of view them as totally separate companies, even though we know the corporate hierarchy).

The DCT started in MY17 with the Sport Hybrid, it really does (according to review) eliminates a semi-major gripe around the 3.5L models (that's the hunty/clunky 9-speed auto).

Hahaha, yes, when I was traveling to The Valley weekly, there were just huge herds of Prius ... es ... Priusi [?] Not too mention, 9/10 times my uber/lift driver was in a Prius.

I have a strange attraction to the X3 M40i. If i were in the market for a small SUV this would probably be it. 6pot, 360hp 0-60 4.8s. Modern interior and a fart can. I'm glad BMW are still making 6 pots accessible to buyers. Its relatively good value since it comes with a lot of standard equipment and you really don't need more than 4 grand extra in options.

Shown with:

$2000 wheels
$1700 Nav
$2500 Executive package

:D

(I'm not sure about that last one ... :p)

I do a comparable build to cars I'm shopping:

PACKAGES + OPTIONS
Driving Assistance Package $900
Heated front seats $500
Navigation system $1,700
Apple CarPlay Compatibility $300
Active Cruise Control $1,200

+$4600, and those are _requirements_ for us, but I could see maybe a "base" model, leave out the wheels, maybe skip nav (it's required for CP FWIW ...), you'd get a little hotrod SUV that more to to Sport, and less to the Utility, for about $55-56K MSRP.
