Would consider it for my second vehicle when the time comes.

Instead of a new mid-ranged Camaro and a new mid-ranged SUV, you should've bought a Corvette and a 10-year old 4Runner for the winter :p

Not sure I'd drive a pink SUV.

I'm glad it's not just me, and I have these fancy IPS, calibrated displays, so I assumed it wasn't a technical issue :D

Very Camaro-esque with the interior( literally with raiding the parts bin using the Camaro screen controls, vent, and HVAC controls.

I dig it. Would consider it for my second vehicle when the time comes. I like the fact the AWD system can be set to be full time. Why I am also considering Subaru's. I don't like the fact most AWD systems in this class need to detect slip in order to send power to the rear and if both front wheels are spinning, the system can't send power to the rear.

Another hideous front end. Just like gm to raid the parts bin, wonder what the Chinese parts content is in that bin??

@D.T. I, too, thought my IPS calibrations were off because I was messing with them the other day. Must be either a) weird GM color b) bad angle. Still having a chuckle at Ben's post. Part of adult life. You pick stuff up from your wife or girlfriend.

I just picked up a 2018 Dodge Journey for my wife. This is her first new car and we plan on keeping for about 10 years.
Then I got myself a 2013 Fiat 500 for my own commuters from home to SLC every three weeks. I’m going to try to find something that I can be home every night or every other night but I’m living in a small town. The Dodge is too big to post, but it white with black leather, heated seats and steering wheel. I was supposed pick it up on Monday the 4th but I surprise her and picked it up on Saturday the second.
Enough words.

I like it. The model below is the RS. It has some nice design cues and I like the Big Bold Grill, and Black accents. I saw some interior pictures and it looks nicely finished. It makes me think of the Toyota Highlander slightly for some reason.

Power plant is offering 2.5 L four-cylinder/193 HP or 3.6 V6/305 HP. I certainly would opt for the 3.6 L, although; I was expecting _more_ HP from a larger V-6, but I would have to drive it obviously to make a better evaluation.

Its some competition for the Ford Edge and Jeep Grand Cherokee in the least.

Looks awesome, honestly. If we weren't happy with our Honda, I would consider it.

This is the frontrunner to replace my Audi lease if I don't go with another 4 rings car. it looks WAY better than the renderings.

Too many times we are quick to judge based off renders and photos (Which includes myself), but seeing something in first person can change your perspective. And I was one that initially discredited the 2019 refresh, and there are some things that I do not like, mainly my qualms are with the front end and the Chevy logo in the middle of the bumper.

But still, the 2019 Camaro still is a very striking car and one of the positives is the refreshed tail lamps are *much* better than I expected.

When does your lease end? Are you considering the 10 speed or manual? Any specific color?

This is a photo from the same video that you posted of the rear of the vehicle. To me, this looks much better. (The color below is ‘Satin steel gray metallic.’) Almost all of my performance cars have been black and I like the new ‘Mosaic Black’ they are offering.

Long time. I just like to look. Halfway through a three year lease

Sounds like it would be almost impossible to resell.

You would be awfully close to the 7th gen’s debut by a year. 7th gen Camaro should bow in 2021.

Good point. And I'm still REALLY concerned about visibility in the Camaro. I can't get less than a 2SS simply for the blind spot warning.

I know every Camaro owner says it, but you really do get used to it. Adjust mirrors properly, maintain situational awareness of your surroundings, etc. I have yet had a major issue driving the Camaro around. The biggest annoyance is when you’re number one at a red light and you have to lean forward to see it. But I don’t see that as a deal breaker.

I second the blind spot concern With the Camaro, as I have heard that from others. I think one can make the necessary adjustments, assuming they are comfortable with it. However, my Mustang isn’t great either, especially with the aftermarket window louvers. But its not enough of a concern for me where I would pass on a car because of it. {And I don’t daily Drive my GT either} But definitely something to consider for a Purchase, especially for safety precautions.

If it moves to manufacture, then I'll add it to my list of utility vehicles I wouldn't mind buying for family trips and it'll come in useful as the kids grow up and take on sports. Full size sedans are nice, but they don't have the space. I'm sold on the design alone and GM knows how to do their HVAC well. Ice cold and strong.

I like my German cars, but the HVAC isn't very good and complex to boot. Most cars on the market are good at delivering heat through HVAC, but how they deliver cold air varies a lot.

As a tall man, I was always smitten with the older MBZ coupes that dropped the front and rear windows and had no divider between the two. The W126 SEC vehicles are... they're elegant. They also had fairly big trunks, if I recall correctly, You could easily put 3-4 full size adult males in the trunk if you wished to. Might need to arrange them in a specific manner to use the trunks dimensions to their fullest, but it would be possible. Anyway, W126 SECs had that window setup and it eliminated blind spots. Wasn't that nice at highway speed, but it worked. And you looked like a badass driving it.

Probably one of the few cars Mercedes has ever made that looked "mobbed up" from the factory. Modern safety standards prevent manufacturers from doing this again. But it would look great on the BMW 6 series, especially the M6.

Another member (Puma1552) I believe said the same thing you did about German cars. They also had a S197 GT as myself, and commented how cold the AC was, and then they upgraded to the Volkswagen Touareg, which they mentioned somewhere about the HVAC was not
nearly as cold as some domestic cars. I primary only have owned domestic cars, but I have never had any general complaints about the AC during the summer, But what’s really nice to Have is cooled seating. In the SHO, it cools your bottom efficiently, but its mediocre on the back. Whereas in some other vehicles I have been in, it’s complete opposite, where the back is way more cooled over the bottom.

My GT has a leather and suede combination, which has the heated seat option, but doesn’t have the option/capability for ventilated seats, unfortunately. Something else I found out about suede from my experience, as it seems to retain heat fairly well, which is *not* an advantage for warm summer conditions [Especially this summer where we have been 90° as daytime average].

Yeah, I know him from this thread. Think he said he was buying an S3 but I might be thinking of someone else. The old 90s Explorers were pretty decent, but nothing was as good as the Chevys. Seat coolers are usually good if they work off of the cooling system and not necessarily just come with fans. I usually want the butt portion cold with the lower back to be mild and the upper back to be cold.

Anyone ever got put of a car lease before?
What are the penalities usually for breaking a lease?
I almost leased a car but I didn't because I knew I was deploying in a year and didn't want to deal with the hassle. You are able to terminate a lease with deployment orders but I knew from a previous apartment it isn't that easy

Interesting information in the L.E. sector. It’s not clear On the engine base, however; Ford is claiming the 2020 Hybrid P.P. Explorer will be 40% more efficient over the 3.7 L, which is actually the base model for the Police Explorer, but the most commonly used Model is the 3.5 TT for county or highway usage.

But even more importantly over all the hybrid considerations, is that some of the technology that Ford is including standard with a Blindspot system, which has been *long *requested, which Will be a huge advantage to Highway/county patrols.

Ford is also allegedly adding a detection meter where it senses pedestrians walking around the car, which can lock the doors and roll the windows in case of ‘danger’. I’m not sure exactly how that will work of how the vehicle senses (Or determines) danger, but the idea the vehicle can sense others walking around the car is something that will be welcomed, because when you drive the Explorer model (Or even the Taurus P.I) with all the included equipment/partition, there are so many blind spots and poor visibility, its very difficult to know what is around you. I’m hoping that this detection meter has some sort of audible alert versus a just visual cue in the display [Or both], that way the drivers eyes are still focused on their surroundings versus the dash area for an indicator light.
I wonder when I will get one of those as my g ride. The visibility is poor and are they even going to keep making the Taurus PI

I might have to hold off on getting a new car because that looks nice
I just picked up a 2018 Dodge Journey for my wife. This is her first new car and we plan on keeping for about 10 years.
What engine and drive did you get on the 2018 Dodge Journey?

Our is the front wheel drive with the 4.6 six cylinder. We live in eastern Idaho and don’t really need all wheel drive. This vehicle will never go off road.

The visibility is poor and are they even going to keep making the Taurus PI

Technically, the Taurus interceptor will be manufactured through this year and discontinued in 2019. So it’s still in production until it’s completely phased out and available to agencies. The 2018 civilian Taurus is still available in all models. But ironically, I have noticed influx of the SHO Models (Specifically the 15-17 models) being marketed higher on the used market, I Can’t even find a used SHO in my area for over 200 miles, where three months back, they were widely more available.

Yes, the visibility is lacking, because it sits relatively high in the back, the rear windshield is fairly small, and then you have to factor in A-B-C pillars are very bulky, which is another area of concern for blind spots.

Regardless, almost any and all departments in my state have completely abandoned the Taurus Interceptor and migrated towards the Explorer Utility when they are ready to upgrade. The Explorer offers the same power-band/fuel efficiency with the AWD Eco-boost, similar weight capacity, sits higher on the roadway for better visibility, has a _considerable_ amount more of storage capacity, [Which was a major complaint with the Taurus interceptor], And can support a dual partition for transport.

Just to provide you a glimpse of PI Explorer sales is compared to where it was just from 2017:

http://m.policemag.com/news/27914/ford-ending-production-of-police-interceptor-sedan

In 2017, Ford sold about 43,000 police vehicles of which about 80% were Police Interceptor Utility vehicle, which is based on the Explorer.”

Unrelated to this post:

Tracked the SHO on Sunday. Will share my initial impressions later.

Having rented a couple of vehicles with cooled seats, it’s a feature I wouldn’t mind having. However, the ventilated seats in my ‘14 Charger are a major step up from my ‘09, and I’m happy to have them.

Funny thing is, I’ll occasionally use the heated seat in the summer (with the AC on, of course) if my upper leg/lower back muscles are a bit sore. Works pretty well.

I really wish my Mustang had AC seats (It Only has heated seats), as I think I prefer all leather. But one thing about having suede, it does ‘hold’ you in quite well when cornering Versus leather, Where I tend to slide around.

Something I do that might be considered abnormal, is I actually will use the AC and have the windows open. (And I _don’t_ care that its wasting it.)

One feature that my SHO does not have that is offered as a feature, is it has built-in massaging seats. I heard great things about it for a longer road trips and usually you only find that feature in vehicles priced significantly higher [The SHO tops out about $48,000]. Its nice to have The luxury comforts that cars didn’t have so many years ago.
