Blazer front end on the refreshed Camaro.... Looks a lot better.....The Camaro is the only one that doesn't wear the new Chevy front end all that well....

But speaking of cars wearing the same corporate design.... I am of the opinion cars like the Camaro, Corvette, Mustang, etc shouldn't be designed with concern with keeping with the family look. Corvette already doesn't follow the Chevy family look, but when people see a Camaro or Mustang they recognize it for the models history more so than associating it with the brands themselves. Like Corvette, Camaro and Mustang already are a sub-brand with their own identities. So the Camaro gaining the new Chevy family look vs its own unique design of the pre-refresh, I am not a fan. But I don't mind some elements of these cars to find themselves on their more main stream models( like the 5th gen Camaro inspired tail lights of the last generation of the Malibu).

I really wish my Mustang had AC seats (It Only has heated seats), as I think I prefer all leather. But one thing about having suede, it does ‘hold’ you in quite well when cornering Versus leather,
Where I tend to slide around.

Something I do that might be considered abnormal, is I actually will use the AC and have the windows open. (And I _don’t_ care that its wasting it.)

One feature that my SHO does not have that is offered as a feature, is it has built-in massaging seats. I heard great things about it for a longer road trips and usually you only find that feature in vehicles priced significantly higher [The SHO tops out about $48,000]. Its nice to have The luxury comforts that cars didn’t have so many years ago.

I love running the AC with the windows down. Especially in my semi/

If I don't go Audi next go round, I'm thinking muscle car with ventilated seats are in the works. It's hot outside.

After driving a Cayenne about last summer for a week or so, ventilated seats are my new favourite option. Shame they’re not really all that common over here yet.

Yeah, I think the Camaro is a little more beholden to the design of Chevys and adds some brand cache to Chevrolet, but Corvette is its own beast. It's basically a freestanding GM automobile.

@D.T. That makes logical sense compared to people who drive verts with the top down and heating blowing in the middle of winter.

There was a video on YouTube earlier this week of a spied-on new RS7 in testing. Doesn't sound as violent as the outgoing generation. Can't get over the backend or the digital everything inside.

I'd consider $4-5/G for 91 premium a good deal during a rough period. I don't exactly drive a fuel efficient vehicle. I don't think I've ever been bothered by fuel prices. That's about 95 or 98 for you. Whenever I'm in Europe for pleasure I tend to rent a premium vehicle with power. Think I spent close to 800ish Euros the last time I did that on fuel alone.

The pleasure of driving around people who can actually drive makes up for the high cost. I've lived in the US for a few decades and I still say a monkey that overdosed on coke and does acid regularly drives better than most of the people here. If we had a yearly MOT it'd clean up the roads of the riff raff. Stringent driver tests should settle the rest.

SHO at the Track:

Synopsis of the event/car:

84°. 6 PM. No pulls, Circuit laps. Livernois Tune/CAI.

Overall experience:

As much as I would like to gloat about my car in all facets of how it handled at the track, I simply cannot (And I have a lot of experience with the P.P Interceptor/Explorer Ecoboost Over the years). This is the first time the SHO has been to the track. The SHO is a great car by many means, but I don’t care how Ford marketed at one point, it is *not* a track car with a stock set up, with/or without the P.P. My experience was this car has excellent acceleration and power at any time, but its just too large, too heavy [4,300 lbs] with way to much body roll when cornering to instill confidence.

The Good:

Zero turbo lag at all. The power was always on demand from the 3.5 engine and I was never under the impression it needed any more power from the Ecoboost, it just has such a strong pull all the time and the AWD functionality makes a Significant impact handling the power.

The braking system has some of the best I have ever experienced in such a large car of any performance cars that I have owned. The stopping power is excellent.

Sport mode. I used this function the whole time and it’s drastically different from the standard ‘drive’ mode in how it holds the gears, and the shifting from the six speed was seamless.

The Bad:

The body roll: This car needs way more suspension upgrades, as another SHO had Upgraded springs (H&R), which greatly improved his experience in how it handled. As I mentioned, its a very tall (Almost five feet), large vehicle, that can be a lot of fun, but can be cumbersome to drive being how it’s sits.

The tires: (Goodyear Eagle F1 245/45ZR20.) I realize these are not the most optimum tires for the track (They are mid-grade summer tires), but that’s just what I had installed on the car at the time and there are likely better choices that would have also assisted in the handling aspect. Michelin Piliot Super Sport Would be a better choice.

The paddle shifters: *Horrible*. I would rather just use the car in sport mode and allow the transmission to take control versus trying to use the paddle shifters, which feels like a delayed experience. {And not that this is related, but I hate that they are plastic, it cheapens the interior.}

Other random highlights:

Some of the cars present:

Audi T.T.
6th Gen Camaro SS
C6 Corvette
GT350
BMW Z3 and a M3
Raptor
SVT Lightning
STi
Charger Scat Pack

Some of the best moments was watching the Raptor and SVT Lightning (5.4 Supercharged F-150) doing pulls. The Lightning was from far stock and was just destroying the Ecoboost Raptor. Fun times.

I did talk to the GT350 owner, {Who was not tracking his car at the time}, and I asked his experience and overall thoughts of his car since his ownership over two years owned. And he was willing to meet with me in the future to talk about his experience on and off the track with it, which appeared he had plenty of experience with it. So I look forward to talking with him, being its likely my next Purchase.

Only because you don't pay U.K. Prices for petrol! ;)

The AC doesn't really affect MPG that much, that's an ol' school thing, but I hear you about the gas price difference. That being said, that's kind of one of my "hobbies", I enjoy driving what I drive, regardless of the associated gas costs :)

What track?

Weight, body roll, that doesn't matter for an HPDE, it's all about technique (i.e., it's not competitive). I took my GS300 on track (it was the extra car at an event with my Supra), it was fine, because I was very effective as a driver (the obsession with setup at HPDEs makes the really seasoned instructors chuckle).

You mentioned "pulls" twice, do you mean drag racing? 1/4? 1/8? Rolling drags?

Nothing wrong with that. I'd rather drive a nice petrol car than a Prius. A few years back the rage was to buy diesel, but never appealed to me.
My car has enough poke for street driving.

My last two DDs have had cooled seats, and it's one of those "must haves" for me now.

The LS had a feature where you could toggle the heated/cooled seats to the automatic climate control. If you used auto climate the way it's designed :) (just adjust the temperature) you never had to touch the seat buttons-it would blast the heated seats on full blast when it was blasting heat, cooled seats on full blast when blasting the AC, and at varying levels at any point in between.

Hmm, definitely need that seat cooling in your region, Ben. One thing I could live without is seat massage. Pointless for me.

It's definitely nice when dew points are in the 80s or 90s.

The weather was like that when I was doing the head gasket on the MG-I'd come in from working on it looking like I'd just come out of the shower.

Unfortunately, even 10PM test drives were still hot and uncomfortable, esp. with as much as I was getting in and out of the car(and having my shirt stuck to the seat every time).

I spent some time in the Carolinas during the summer. I know what you mean. Some years we have a week or two of weather like that here. It's a disgusting feeling.

The Same GT350 at the track over the weekend was randomly parked outside the range when I was leaving. (Although he was not in the G.R.)

Just more confirmation this is the car I want next. Part of me is tempted to just trade in both my cars and pick up a GT 350 tomorrow if I wanted to, but I put too much work into my GT, which I have owned both those cars less than a year and it wouldn’t be in my best interest as I mentioned before.

But the GT350 To me has enough subtleties and differences that are striking enough over the GT with the wheels, Grill, body, exhaust, suspension, and....the hand built 5.2 Voodoo Flat Plane. [I do prefer the 2018 headlights, but I can overlook that given the additions]

Although I will probably opt for some outlandish color like Orange Fury instead of black.

Hey guys-we're running great NOW with the new head gasket :)

This was my first chance at a good old fashioned "Italian Tune-Up" with a sustained high-RPM run, and it didn't miss a beat.

BTW, I intentionally drove out of the rain so that I could go put the top up, but was going a bit faster than was probably prudent to get far enough ahead of it for that "operation." A few weeks ago, I'd noticed a SLIGHT and occasional misfire at around 90(5K rpms or so). I figured I either needed to gap the points or my condenser had packed up yet again(current ones are junk) but that seems to be gone now.

Really nice render of the GT500 by JC Design.
But I do question if this is what it will actually resemble. Actually, recently there was a spy shot of the GT500 down in Arizona. I don’t believe it had the Gills incorporated as this render does and its missing the slits from the extended fenders as been previously discussed.

Spy Shot in Arizona:

[As you can see, the discrepancies from the render, but an outstanding photo captured by a passerby.]
