Been a hot minute - here's what I bought last year (winter mode currently) and recently software tuned. :) Any other Audi Sportback owners here?

I like to support local businesses, but if the tyre is very flat like mine was, and I need it fast as my exhaust work was booked in, then it’s a good solution.

Here in the Uk they improved a lot, they couldn’t do wheels larger than 18”’in the past but now can do upto 23” on the drive. Quite handy.

Yeah, this company seems pretty reputable, lots of higher end installs (if their photos are to be believed).

I hear you about the wheels, decades ago, it was like a big deal to be able to mount larger tires and especially to handle low profile specs, especially when they were only on a few cars.

Wide[r] wheels are harder to balance too, that's why I've generally used a smaller shop that used to mount race tires for me, they'd really take their time, obviously use hidden weights, but reviews of this installer clarifies what a good job they did (in that same capacity). Really this is mostly motivated by not wanting to hang around a shop, I drove through the local Firestone dealer, super convenient, but like nobody was wearing a mask ...

Oh, I did get my Velossa ducts in, the owner of the company did mine in a custom orange to more closely match my exterior color. I've got an extra aftermarket grill, I'm going to cut out the corners, paint it with plastidip (vs. the OEM glossy finish) that will match the other ducts better and make the Velossa ducts really pop (as they're gloss orange).

Having relocated from the central Rockies, I’m finding I actually miss the white stuff.

At times.
Where I live, it's usually very temporary which is nice. Even though I'm originally from Southern California, I really do love the defined seasons and swathes of nature out here.

I’ll give my impressions once they arrive, but Pretty stoked about this order. Picked up a set of new aluminum service ramps by Titan. They raise the vehicle Off the ground by 9.5”. (The length is 66” with a slope of 11.5 degrees, 55” in total length). They are lightweight obviously because of the aluminum construction, and you can also reverse the car up onto the ramps. More importantly, all my cars sit low to the ground (Especially the Cobra), and this isn’t an issue where there will be any scraping driving onto the ramps. The 8” ‘stop plate‘ also prevents from driving over the ramps once elevated.

Totally reputable company, and more importantly, these are safe to climb under versus those garbage plastic ramps. Believe it or not, I didn’t even purchase these for DIY oil changes, I‘m an extremist when it comes to detailing, and I plan on spending some detailing the undercarriage of my sports cars. (Weird I know, it works for now until I can have the hydraulic lift installed in the future.)

But the best part, they were only $260, [which I used a 15% off coupon code from retail-me-not, which basically cut out the tax] and free shipping.

2022 Honda Civic Prototype revealed. This is likely the final production of what the new Civic will resemble. Lots of mixed skepticism, But looking at this video, it’s a cross between Acura and a Honda Accord.

Nice. I wondered about the status of the engine build, etc. On top of it running great, it also looks terrific.

Thanks! It's taken far longer than I would have liked, but I'm super happy with the final result even if it's not 100% done yet.

Just hoping to be able to drive it back at Thanksgiving! I'd like to do brakes all around before I do. They all have plenty of meat on the pads, but the rear cylinders are a bit leaky and if I have to tear the backs down to do that I hate to not put them back together with new parts...and if I do the backs and have the front parts on hand as I have for a couple of years now, I have a hard time not doing them all around. The question is-to I try and find a shop that will let me bring in drums for them to turn, or do I spend a pile of money on new ones(I think drums are ~$100 each or so, and I paid $50 for a set of front rotors), find out that they're out of round and still try to find a shop to turn them out of the box :)

I think this is called project creep :) . Anyone with an old car should know about it :)

This is all pretty terrifying. Have not had a car since 2012 having lived in Singapore and Philippines for the last 8 years. My driving licence expired when I turned 60 back in August so my wife is starting driving lessons next week. Toyota Vios is a popular choice here in Manila but I am thinking Jeepney big, bold, can take a shunt easily..................

Someone almost hit me in the SHO. They were Looking down on at their smart phone and was behind me, and we approached a red light and they literally almost slammed into the back of the car. I don’t believe in giving people the ‘middle finger‘ (And I didn’t in this situation either), but this person deserved it.😁

This was a quick/easy little project. The two valve covers for the supercharger on the Camaro I noticed kind of scratch easy. So I had them refinished and then I was given the tip you can use ‘Krylon plastic barrier spray’, which gives a protective layer over the paint, which basically makes it kind of scratch resistant. I tested it, and Any minor scratches completely wipe off With no problem. [The valve covers are constructed of aluminum, so the protective paint bonded relatively quick with little drying time.]

For the record, those aren't valve covers, they're injector/fuel-rail covers. The actual valve covers are lower down, on the heads, with several perimeter bolts, and have the coil mounts

Winter blizzard this week dumping 14”? Bring it.....😁

Best winter tire on the market, will be here on Tuesday. (And scored a $40 Rebate). And if anyone’s looking for tires online, there’s no better source than Tire rack, they’ve been my ‘go to’ for years.

Supposed to be picking up my car on Friday!

Just got off the phone with the shop-engine is full broken in and had an oil change, and it's been for a spin around the block. They did a bit more carb tweaking, and are supposed to take it out for an interstate run today. Once that's done and they're otherwise happy with it, they'll hand it off to me.

I can't wait! It's been 6 months now(May) but I hope it will have been worth the wait. What I saw the other day didn't leave me with any doubt of that.

Delivered:

Seems rather trivial when it comes to discussing tires, but it’s the small things that I love about cars so much, tires are one of those, especially with the performance aspect, rather it be weather related or for the track.

Bridgestone Blizzaks have some serious slabs of tread. Honestly, I can’t wait to get these on, being I find most winter accidents are caused by improper tire wear from lack of rotation and/or over degradation of tread wear. The Blizzaks are nothing more than insurance policy for your car to stay planted. I also have a pair of Bridgestone serenity‘s on the SHO, another outstanding tire. In terms of some of the best all seasonal and winter tires on the market, I would rank Bridgestone #1 and Michelin coming in at #2.

This is my second pair of Blizzaks, the only drawback to these tires, is road noise, but really a non-issue when you’re driving over fresh powder in a snow state where 100” in three months is the ‘norm’ here.

Oh, I had these delivered to my house within 24 hours with free shipping. Can’t say enough good things about ‘Tire rack’ as a company, they’ve been my go to primary source.

Don't know about this specific tyre, but Bridgestone is an excellent choice. I use Bridgestone tyres exclusively on all my cars (Potenza for summer and Blizzak for winter). In all these years I've always been most satisfied with the performance.

So just a bit of more info on the Blizzaks:

I was doing some more research on the tire itself, and what I didn’t know, is that Bridgestone just released the newest version of the Blizzak noted as the WS90 (As above you see in the picture I posted, which will give you that specific model number on the sticker and it’s embedded on the tire), its predecessor was the ‘WS80’. So if anybody is ever looking to put Blizzak tires on their ride, make sure the shop/source is using the latest model known as the ‘WS90’. There’s quite a bit of significant improvements they made, like {increasing block edges for stopping on ice, they’re using bite particles for a stronger grip on snow and ice with multi-tread technology (Its basically two layers of tread), and the tire is self has a larger contact area for dry handling/performance on ice, snow and just plain wet roads, also, the blocks of tread itself is ‘stiffer’, which improves for dry road response, which will help increase the wear life.}

The first set of Blizzaks I owned years ago were the WS80s, so I’m curious to see how the WS90’s perform with the latest model, also compared to the Bridgestone Serenities on the SHO [With the exception that’s AWD.]
