In reply to Jaffa's whiteness

If the child is River Song then we can rule out her being the Doctor's child. There is no way he'd be in the sort of relationship that has been implied/shown with his own child.

Take a closer look and you'll see a lot of the same structural trickery. Coupling was a farce, and Moffat's Doctor Who episodes use farcical grammar. It's kind of a brilliant combination, really.

'The Curse of the Black Spot'

Wow that was awful

Seemed like they were filming a half finished script.
Starting to wonder about Moffat as a "Show Runner " His own stories are still very good but some of the monster-of-the-week episodes have been really sub par.

Agreed, I think they blew their budget on the first 2 episodes and also ran out of time so just chucked some crap filler in. I'm hoping for much better next week.

Yup - definitely not great. But at least they're keeping the narrative from the first two episodes going with the eye patched woman pitching up again. next weeks should be pretty special from what I've heard...

I liked Curse of the Black Spot...
Yeah, not the best one, but certainly not the worst. I think the 'Vampires of Venice' episode last series was worse than this one.

Next week looks good. I wonder what that woman with the eyepatch in the hatch is all about.

The Doctor's wife, what did we think?
I thought it was very good, in total contrast to last week.

Everything Doctor Who should be.

although "killing" Rory two weeks in row seems a bit much.

Agreed, much better than the previous episode, and a great insight into the relationship between the Dr and the Tardis. Although it felt a bit like the props and SFX guys had gone old school with the planet and uncle and aunty, i still think they've spent most of their budget on the first two episodes.

I think dying regularly could be his gimmick. Like Leland Orser. Oh no, not again!

He's become the Kenny of Dr Who.

Anyone else have the iTunes Season Pass for Doctor Who? Apparently, iTunes doesn't seem to think we deserve the newest episode-The Rebel Flesh. It was up on Amazon at 3am on Sunday, yet today, Monday, at 6:42pm EST, its still NOT available! Fortunately, I have already seen it on cable, but I didn't pay $19.99 to be ignored. There have been many emails sent to their 'support' and yet no explanation has been given.

Side note:
Funny when the ganger said 'I thought I was going to die,' Rory says 'Welcome to my world.' Priceless!

Same issue here. Not too happy about that. I want to watch it again because I was left kind of confused by a few parts. I just had trouble keeping track of who was real and who the gangers were at some parts.

That line was brilliant though. :)

An interesting twist at the end of tonights episode! I wonder at what point she stopped being "real"?
Next week's trailer looks very interesting.

As for Amy...

She first saw the eye patch lady in the first episode of this series – unless there's been a very sneaky inclusion of her last year – so she's been a captive for at least as long as the visit to the orphanage.

And as she was laid there about to give birth, was that a Dalek eyestalk looking at... erm... Amy's Crack?

I'm still sticking with my Amy's baby=River Song prediction, by the way.

Very interesting end to the episode, quite like the way they tied up these last two episodes with this one.
I find i'm having to re-watch these episodes as some things don't make sense first time. What was the doctor talking about in the rebel flesh when he recognised the flesh and said he could fix things? Also how did he know about Amy at the end?

MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING
.
.
.
It has been confirmed on lots of spoiler forums that River is Amy's daughter, I wonder how long they've had that one written in as it seems like ever since the introduction of River she's be due to kill the doctor at some point

(/ENDSPOILER)

Next week's episode looks like it will be epic and should hopefully answer a lot of questions and bring this seasons storyline together, although it looks like it should be big enough to be a season finale double rather than just a mid season finale. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

Just a comment on your white text, mroddjob – with some of my own, naturally...

I think we're supposed to think River will kill the Doctor, but all that's been said is that she (and I'm paraphrasing here) 'killed a good man' and he was 'the best man she ever knew'. I don't think it'll be the Doctor – I think that she'll kill Rory at some point. I don't think it'll be next week, mind.

No Full series in 2012 by the looks of it
All seems a bit confusing first there was the "trouble up mill" story in Private Eye
quickly denied by the Beeb but now it turns out to have some truth to it no full series next year. more here

Whats the truth? my suspicion is that the producers haven't quite kept their eyes on the budget as well as Collinson/Gardner/RTD did. Also it may have something to do with the move to the new studio facility in Cardiff bay which doesn't come on line till the end of this year. Maybe they don't want to move studios in the middle of the production run.

Jack's Back

Torchwood: Miracle Day is on tonight on Starz. It's a mini-series, rather than the monster-of-the-week format that Doctor Who uses. (It's a spin-off of Doctor Who for those not following closely ;))

Hey Jaffa, long time no speak! I've been away from the forums for several years but decided to return recently to comment on the passing of Steve Jobs - seemed appropriate. A nice side-effect of that is I am now receiving thread update notifications from my subscribed threads from long ago. Of course pretty much all of them have been closed, however I am very happy to see this one is still going!

I guess I'm a little late to the party, what with Season 6 being completed now, but as a whole, I really enjoyed it all for the most part - a few weak bits here and there, but in general I really like the direction Moffat has taken the show - a bit darker and edgier. With the finale though, as good as it was, I struggled with how they explained the Doctor's death - clever, I guess, yet it seemed like a bit of a cop out. Also, if that wasn't actually the Doctor, rather a robotic copy of him, where did the regeneration energy come from when he was initially shot? Anyway, just one of many thoughts I could share - again, I realize I'm a bit late on commenting here... ;)

Anyway, interesting news on the movie - I guess for now, with so little information, all I can do is being very cautiously optimistic! A Westernized recreation of Doctor Who has the potential to be very bad, but still has promise if done correctly. Really though, I'm quite content to just stick with the TV version for the foreseeable future...

Cheers for now...

Unfortunately, lot of early Doctor Who episodes – and episodes from other classic shows too – were lost when the master tapes were wiped for reuse, their value only being realised many years later. But some good news today – a couple more 'missing' episodes from the 1960s have shown up.

Only 106 more left to find.

That's great news! One would have thought that they had found all there was to find by now, but it's nice to se some more episodes coming out of the woodwork. Guess they'll have some early episode/lost episode collections to re-release now... ;)
