iFixit

So only 2 of the 3 pins are connected, wonder why they bothered putting 3 on.

Update

Just noticed a very fine wire on the third pin

UK People - how do you type a pound (sterling) sign ? - it’s located on the number 3 key but whatever I do I can’t get it ☺

Works for me!

On a unrelated note, anyone else seeing this annoying blue outline appear every now and then?
See the attached

Huh? The keys on my MK have no more than 2 characters

As I said in post #445 and shown in the photo in post #448 the UK keyboard uses shift + 3 to get the £ sign. US keyboards are different. On a US keyboard you get £ with opt + 3. Depends what country you buy it in. I did once get a second hand MBP here in the UK which had a US keyboard, and I didn't realise the difference until too late.

Simple

It’s already on our keyboard :)

Yes, I was aware it was on the 3 key but in order to switch to UK you have to press the Globe key and ensure it’s English (UK) rather than English (US). Now if anyone can tell me how you get a EURO sign (and yes I realise it’s on the 2 key !)

€ = option 2?

€ = option 2?
Option + E = € (my MK)

All my option-signs...
„¡“¶¢[]|{}≠¿«∑€®†Ω¨⁄øπ•±å‚∂ƒ©ªº∆@œæ‘≤¥≈ç√∫~µ∞…–

BTW:
Im looking for a shortcut for screenshots

I find a „new“ shortcut... 👍
With „cmd + 1-8“ you can switch between all of your Safari-Tabs. But “cmd + 9“ shows the last Tab (Not the 9th Tab)

Shortcut for screenshots is same as on mac

Shift-cmd-4

I don't know what it's called with WIN10, if the mouse pointer continues to run with a small trackpad (e.g. Text edit - mouse pointer trailing?) Why is that not possible with the MK?

One of the keys popped off my 11-inch Magic Keyboard during the first two weeks. No obvious reason why that happened. Not sure I’d even ever pressed it. It was the +/= key. So keyboard returned. New one ordered. Hope this was an isolated incident.

Enabling full keyboard access to get all the usual Mac shortcuts makes the annoying blue outline I referenced earlier appear. According to Apple Support, being able to access the shortcuts means that the blue outline/highlight will keep appearing to indicate that various elements on screen are selected.

Dumb!

Yes, the full keyboard access is a little akward as of now. i had to change some shortcuts like the arrows one because by default it interfering with video playback controls. Also, I turn the blue line to be visible for like 2 seconds so I have to always tap the shortcut twice to work.

They shouldn’t make this option as an accessibility feature. I always use keyboard shortcuts on macOS.

Much love for the keyboard. One thing worth mentioning. I compared the trackpad to my MacBook Pro 13 trackpad. Apple basically uses the same trackpad tech on the entire laptop line. They would of course, have to. The iPad trackpad is different in a number of ways.

1) much smaller (this is unavoidable)
2) very stiff 'physical' mouse clicks
And most surprising:
3) requires aproximatley twice the force to tap-to-click, at the most sensitive laptop setting.

This is unfortunate, as I have had nerve sensitivity do to touch and trackpad use (RSI). Apple though, has made the laptop trackpad so sensitive that it doesn't aggravate any RSI, which is very welcome. Unless they can increase sensitivity with this iPad trackpad I can't use it. Not a big deal, as I'll save a bundle :D

Hopeful this will change, but as far as I'm concerned, the trackpad experience so far is substandard. Note: the BT touchpad is the same as the laptop line.

BTW, it took me about a day to realize this. Most people will not even notice this, which stinks, as I need others to complain so they create settings to increase sensitivity.

Asside from this, the keyboard is brilliant. Fortunately this sensitivity is not going to be any kind of deal breaker for most people, but it's definitely worth pointing out. They need a sensitivity setting.

Absolutely. Thanks for the 2s tip.
I am very surprised that this hasn’t been flagged up more often. I spent quite a while trying to find a solution. Make sure to report it via the official feedback channel!

According to iFixit, it's a mechanical design, rather than the non-moving haptic feedback versions used in the current MBPs and Magic Trackpad.
