I am writing this using my new keyboard and I have to say that my initial concerns were unfounded.
I have had a Brydge Pro keyboard for a little over a year and I really liked it and they way it accompanied my iPad Pro 11 (2018).
It had it’s flaws though.
I rarely took my iPP out of the keyboard due to the hinge rubbers being thin and easy to split. So I was shocked to have a hinge snap, but Brydge replaced the unit under warranty.
I found that the keyboard itself had some quirks.
- It would take a couple of key presses before the keyboard and iPad would acknowledge each other and display inputs.
- It would capitalise the start of any new sentence or input field.
This made it annoying when typing an email address or iPad/iPhone or indeed any word beginning with a lower case letter.
- To apply an Emoji, the onscreen keyboard would have to be deployed.
Other than that. It has been brilliant and suited my needs.
Until the Apple Magic Keyboard arrived...
What a joy it is to use!
The typing experience is smooth and precise, more so than the Brydge.
The trackpad is equally as smooth and precise and offers an array of swipe/pinch gestures.
The build quality of this keyboard is typical of Apple’s renowned high standard.
I will likely miss the dedicated function keys found on the Brydge keyboard, especially for the quick control of volume and screen brightness.
Other than that... It’s all the way!
