Does anyone else get a slight wobble in the iPad screen when you’re pressing the delete button?

It doesn’t bother me but I was just wondering if this is normal.

Someone in this forum had the same issue. If the bottom case isn’t completely flat, consider that a defect. Call Apple, get it replaced. They send replacement Airpods over UPS. Maybe the same process applies here.

Could someone try placing their iPad on the back of their Magic Keyboard closed and with the camera cutout aligned to see if this can make a viable surface to write on?

I don’t like the idea of placing my iPad on a table with my rear camera exposed to scrapes.

iJustine showed in today’s Q&A video something goofy but functional. When the MK is flipped upside down, the iPad is positioned perfectly for pencil illustration and written notes. It will be at an angle towards you, while docked. Just flip the whole setup upside down. Can’t use the keyboard in that position though.

Did anyone notice that the Keyboard smells disgusting? This is so unlike apple...

I just got my keyboard.
My keyboard doesn't smell bad at all, more like leather-ish.

I was so worried when I bought this and I saw reviews all over the place.
But except the number row of keys being too close to the iPad, everything else is amazing.
I was extremely concerned, I wanted to cancel the order but I couldn't.

Now I will not be returning it for sure. It's super sleek, keys are amazing and the build quality is mich better than I imagine.
The weight is indeed high but its form factor still makes my iPad pro 11 inches the most portable power horse.

Glad you don’t need to click the trackpad each time you want to click a link or go somewhere just putting your finger over it is enough

I am writing this using my new keyboard and I have to say that my initial concerns were unfounded.

I have had a Brydge Pro keyboard for a little over a year and I really liked it and they way it accompanied my iPad Pro 11 (2018).

It had it’s flaws though.

I rarely took my iPP out of the keyboard due to the hinge rubbers being thin and easy to split. So I was shocked to have a hinge snap, but Brydge replaced the unit under warranty.

I found that the keyboard itself had some quirks.

- It would take a couple of key presses before the keyboard and iPad would acknowledge each other and display inputs.

- It would capitalise the start of any new sentence or input field.
This made it annoying when typing an email address or iPad/iPhone or indeed any word beginning with a lower case letter.

- To apply an Emoji, the onscreen keyboard would have to be deployed.

Other than that. It has been brilliant and suited my needs.

Until the Apple Magic Keyboard arrived...

What a joy it is to use!

The typing experience is smooth and precise, more so than the Brydge.

The trackpad is equally as smooth and precise and offers an array of swipe/pinch gestures.

The build quality of this keyboard is typical of Apple’s renowned high standard.

I will likely miss the dedicated function keys found on the Brydge keyboard, especially for the quick control of volume and screen brightness.

Other than that... It’s  all the way!

Has anyone with the new MK found that their iPad displays ‘Not charging’ when the keyboard is connected to a power source via the pass-through USB-C port?

Received the 12.9” MK and absolutely love it. No way near as heavy as I was expecting. The keyboard is excellent (Best I have used) as is the trackpad. Looking forward to typing when it gets dark on it and seeing how it charges. Very happy with this purchase, despite its price. Have tried the Brydge keyboard and didnt like it that much (founds keys sticky and the hinge made it no so easy to keep taking out and in). Also long term user of the ASK which is okay but has many flaws. Not sure how long term use will affect the keyboard but this will enhance my experience ten fold as love that it is easy to remove the ipad and then put it back again. Well done Apple though think no keyboard is really worth more than £150, but the experience you get from this compensates From paying a premium.

Hi All,

So playing with my new IPad Magic Keyboard, really loving it but one little thing I can’t workout.

Using ‘Outlook’ and I want to be able to swipe on an email to either delete or archive. I thought that a two finger swipe on the track pad would do this, but no.

Does anyone know if you can swipe on an email in Outlook to delete?

Thanks

Trackpad support needs to be added by Microsoft.
I am also waiting for trackpad support in YouTube as well.

What I am curious if there is a way to enable - like on a Mac - 3 fingers drag. I was checking in Accessibility but without luck. It’s so messed up the way they have implemented some settings, the placement of some of them is so Non Apple.

Hi my MK also wooble when i press the delete Key.... Bad Luck?

If anyone is interested, I just had a chance to upload a (more proper) review of the keyboard after I've had it for 24 hours. I hope it answer more of the questions I missed on the previous videos.

Khob kuhn mak krub.

I detest the smart folio keyboard and basically only use it as a protective case in my bag. And when using the iPad as a tablet, I really just prefer to use the device without any case at all. Removing the iPad from the SFK always felt clumsy. Looks like the magic keyboard will be a near perfect mix of charging/docking/typing, with good protection moving around, and easy access to the iPad itself.

Thank you for the update and making me aware of YouTube, just noticed that you can’t swipe to close a video

Pretty sure I originally posted about the wobble and I’m starting to think that its within manufacturing tolerance? Hard to swallow given how expensive it is... but should return/swap if it’s really bad... gonna call them tomorrow.

You can do this in Outlook to delete an email, so...

You need to actually push the trackpad ( so you hear a click ) with 2 fingers on an email and THEN swipe.

For YouTube to close a Video playing in the smaller window, similar behaviour. You need to push the trackpad with 2 fingers and then swipe download.

Hope that this makes sense.

I’m writing this from my new Magic Keyboard I just received this morning. THIS THING IS AMAZING!! I actually don’t mind the weight, the build is solid, and the typing experience is way better than the Keyboard Folio. Amazing!

Received my Magic Keybaord today. I have some imperfections on the material around the palm rest... See photos below.

Do you think I should return it for this? The trouble is that in the UK new Magic Keybaords won’t now be shipped until the end of May...

I would call apple to see if they have one they can send earlier, I mean you paid a-lot for it and if its not perfect they need to replace it. if it was me I would.....see if they can let you keep that one until the new one shows up

That’s good advice. I just made a thread to see if anyone is thinking of returning theirs generally. I like it, but I do really miss the function keys and for the money I do think they should have found a way of including shortcuts for brightness, volume, etc.

The screen goes back pretty far on the hinge - does anybody seriously use their iPad at a steeper angle than this allows?

agreed, I dont get min until tomorrow but its one of the things that kind of sucks. but you can try to get around that using Hey Siri to adjust brightness etc...possible to use some shortcuts if you do a certain task alot. Hoping that IOS 14 would have more keyboard shortcuts to do things like that in lue of the function keys.

dont forget you can also remap keys if you dont use then, for example if you want escape you can remap the globe key etc

I’m loving the black of the keyboard and trackpad, makes a nice change of the all-grey Smart Keyboard Folio.
