If the Taptic Engine is the bottleneck making and shipping Watches fast enough, why aren't the bands (there should be piles of extras waiting for watches to be made) shipping already?

My guess is Apple has plenty of bands, they are just holding them because they don't want to have all of these bands and no watches in the stores. Just a theory.

Awaiting my WSB. Looks sharp!

That makes no sense at all. First of all they are already selling the charge cables in store. Secondly even if there aren't any watches available in store there are all those online orders that have shipped and been delivered already with a lot of those customers myself included wanting additional bands. It certainly doesn't prevent them from shipping online band preorders.

That's why I don't buy the taptic issue as the only bottleneck. Seems like they can't make bands either. Surprised the basic sports one isn't out either.

Ordered a brown leather loop separately. It says "processing" with an April 29-May 12 delivery window.

Same, ordered a medium brown leather loop shortly after the store opened. In Australia. Delivers: 30 april - 11 may and still Processing. All the leather loop models were shipping 4-6wks when the store opened so I think we will be lucky to get the loops soon! Plus the white sport band on my SS watch isn't really the one for me... But love the watch!

I think they are holding bands back so you and people around you become more aware of the interchangeability.
Easily being able to change the bands to fit your style is a big feature of the Watch, and a part of what distinguishes it from other watches.

Any sign of any strap orders?

I've got three extra straps on order - two sports ones and a leather loop. The leather loop and a white sports band are just saying "May" but the other blue ione said "2-4 weeks" when I ordered it. Wondered if anyone had seen any movement - I'm assuming Apple will be working like mad to get watches out before starting on other stuff?

I ordered:
1) Milanese band 4/12, deliveries May, processing
2) sb, all except black, 4/10 shortly after watch order, ships
4/29 -5/12, processing
3) bsb about a week ago, apple added it to watch order, see below

All this makes some sense with back story...

I'm in a similar boat - three bands on order, two sports (Black & Green) and a Classic Buckle. Black has delivers 4/29-5/12 while Green has delivers 5/14-5/28. Classic buckle just has "available to ship: May". I do have an cc authorization issued 4/27 from the Online Apple Store for $53.04 which is the price of a sport band plus tax. I would have expected that it would have changed to "preparing to ship" after the authorization. I have some hope that its going to ship very soon but that is slowly going away...:(

I'm so glad that at least someone got their extra band - do you mind posting where you're located and when you ordered it?
Thanks!:)

My situation was a little anomalous and probably not representative of broader shipping times. I posted this in the Leather Loop thread:

I got my SS BSB watch last Friday and have been having some issues with it - being passed back and forth between the online chat, genius bar, online chat, etc - to get the repair taken care of. Apple customer support was kind enough to let me place an order via the support team, so they sent me what looks to be a replacement leather loop. I say "replacement" because it came in a white box without the strap logo on top, as we've seen in other pictures. The box simply has a small "42mm M" sticker on it.

What is the hold up?

I can understand the delays in manufacturing millions of Apple watch's but what is the hold up on having extra bands/straps available?

What is the hold up?
