Just bought a 2015 11 inch Air. This will be my work/travel laptop. I was tempted by the new rMB but I just bought a thunderbolt hub a few months ago. With the Air I can hook up to a dual monitor setup in my office with one cable. With the rMB I'd only be able to use one monitor and I'd have to go from DVI>HDMI>USB3 dongle. Too much hassle. The rMB is promising but it's just not for me yet.

I used to have an Air (2010 11") and am excited to have one again. I'm hoping to keep this machine for a long time.

Just purchased a new 2015 13" MacBook Air yesterday, base configuration. $949, plus another $50 off education discount at Best Buy and couldn't be happier for $900.

I originally purchased a 13" MacBook Pro with Retina the day before, but had a bit of buyer's remorse between feeling it was a little too much computer for me and fear of the antireflective coating coming off of the glass (as shown in articles here). The unit I had actually had a bottom plate that was a little flimsy and when pressed made a cracking noise. The force touch trackpad was nothing to write home about, if anyone is wondering.

I waited for the retina Air, which turned out to be the 12" retina MacBook for almost two years, but I just don't see the benefits beyond retina for the cost.

I feel like this is a great time to buy an Air because the design has been perfected over 5 years, and I suspect this is one of the final versions of it. It's a perfect balance between power, portability, and value relative to Apple's other offerings.

I once had an 11" Air, but the bezels were pretty distracting, and the screen was just too small for me. Combined with the fact that I also have an iPad mini, I wanted a larger screen.

The only things I could ask for that would have made me happier with my purchase is 8GB RAM for future-proofing and of course the retina display. Most things are sharp enough, but some text and rounded, circular elements look a bit jagged. That said, the screen on my unit is very bright and the colors are vibrant.

Hope everyone else enjoys their new Airs! :apple:

Just purchased a base 2015 13" Air to replace my ten year old iMac. I was going to get the 21.5" iMac but decided that a desktop computer isn't going to suit my lifestyle any more (I travel alot, and I'm home for less than four months of the year).

I've used Apple computers all my life and the MBA is the best (and the most beautiful) I've ever used. Best of all it's going to change my working life. I'm a travel writer, and whilst my iPad is perfect for note taking on the go, it's unfortunately not suitable for more intensive sessions on Pages (even with a bluetooth keyboard). This usually means I have to wait to find an internet cafe in order to write properly, which can sometimes be to the detriment of submission dates.

The MBA will solve this problem - I can still use my iPad for notes, but now I can finish articles/journals/essays on the Air no matter where I am, be it in a nice hotel or in a tent in the middle of nowhere. And lordy is the thing fast and light

Oh, and if I do need a proper desktop at home I can just log it up to my spare monitor or TV.

The Retina Display/8gigs of RAM would be of no use to me, although I have heard the Retina does provide a nice writing experience. No matter, I'm well chuffed! :apple:

Just picked up a base 2015 Macbook Air 11". Couldn't be more happier with the decision. It's fast and I think the right size for what I wanted something portable but not too small.

Just bought a 2014 MacBook Air 13'' 4/256.

After a long thinking whether I should buy the Air or the rMBP, I decided the Air should be more than enough for me (everyday use, Android and iOS development). Plus, I love the design of the Air. :)

MBA 11 inch occasion

I bought myself one of 3 remaining MacBook Air 11 inch occasions at a webshop in the Nertherlands, ikfix. Have used them before for parts, but my girlfriend wanted a small Mac, so i decided to get an 11 inch Air. It's a 2011 model with 6 months guarantee for 290 euro's. Must say, very impressed with the thing, and for that price one can't complain:)

Maxed 11" MBA

Yesterday morning I went to my closest Apple Store to compare to buy the MBA's. Because of local severe storms, the store was closed. I'm told the stores keep 2 configurations, maxed and entry level units. Although the store was closed, there were advisors there letting people look at the watches. After being turned away, I went and sat on the edge of a fountain to decide what to do with my time off. I had told the advisor that turned me away that I simply wanted to compare before I bought and a few minutes later he walked over to me and said it would be ok to look at the MBA's but the store couldn't bring up their computers.
So I did and decided on the 11 inch because I liked the feel of the keyboard. An advisor that was helping me decide told me that he was sure they had several in stock and to buy online with delivery to that store so that when the power came back I'd be able to get it and take it home with me.
So I did as time was running out on my special financing option that I was going to use.
The power came back late in the day, but the Apple Store was closed by then.
I hope to pick it up today. I don't know why I didn't opt to drive 15 miles up the road and get one from a store that was up and running.
Currently it shows that the store will get my MacBook Air on April 30. I sure hope this store actually has one and that they let me have it. I've only got the guys word that they will.

I called Apple this morning told them the story ask them if they had my computer ready for me to come get it. The person on the phone said no way and wanted to know who told me I would be able to come back and pick it up. I did not remember his name, but I believe he was telling the truth because I've had Apple horde their stock before when they knew they had a sure sale. So without making a 30 mile trip, I'm stuck waiting till the 30th.
It ain't rite, lol it just ain't rite!
This associate said he knew they had a couple of maxed out units in the back, he just couldn't pull them with the power out.
Edit: Status change.
My status has changed to "Shipping to Store" and the date has changed to the 28th. Well, thats 2 days sooner that originally posted.

Bought a 2014 mba 11 - 4g ram 256g hd a couple of weeks ago.

it was 1100 cad on sale at best buy (vs. 1 349,00 $ for the 2015 model)

I still find that damn expensive, but you what what you pay for...

This is a decent machine. not impressed by the screen. Hope ram will not be an issue. so far it is not.

Battery life is great.

Return it and see if you can get a refurb at a better price on apple.com. That's what I did. I bought a 2015 11" 4/256 MBA for $1112 after taxes but after 10 days I returned it and bought a 2013 11" 4/256 MBA from their website for $857 after taxes and it just came in today. They're pretty much the exact same machine, just slight, non noticeable speed difference. Saved myself $255.

Same config is 1019$ cad on the refurbished store. Plus I wouldn't have the French Canadian keyboard (not a must but a plus). 2013 config is not available at the moment.

There is no cheaper models at 256g and I need at least that.

I can live with 80$ less...

Good advice anyway.

I've been meandering around the fora like a over-connected drunk the last few days; I hadn't realized until I went to the Apple refurbished zone just tonight that you can even get an extended warranty on the refurbished models. I don't know how much of a performance difference there is between the 2014 (or the 2013, for that matter) and the 2015, but it is now a viable option for me whereas I wouldn't have considered it before.

Thanks, all.

Is the 14 day Apple Return "No Questions Asked" Policy from the date of purchase or date Received if ordered via the Apple Store?

If you ship to store the start date is your pickup date. If you have it shipped to you I think the order date is the start date.

I bought my mom her first computer yesterday - an entry level MBA made in december 2014 (so I guess the previous generation). I was doubting between an upgrade to the iPad (she has an Ipad2 but doesn't use it much), the new rMB or the MBA. I saw this one new for €999 so it was the price that did it for me, that is normally the price for an 11inch (too small).

I do hope I've made the right decision and that 128GB is enough for her. Still debating if I should've gone for the iPad instead, but I hope she'll like it!

I keep trying not to ask yet another question, so forgive me, but in the refurbished store, some models have additional "discounts," while others don't. Is there any rhyme or reason to this? Could a model that doesn't have one get one, and one that does lose it?

Debating about waiting for a price drop, but uncertain as to whether that ever happens, or if in the meantime, the product might be sold out.

Again. Thank you so much.

I have not yet seen additional discounts? What you find is that the older models get a bit cheaper, so for example the 2013 Air would be a bit cheaper than the 2014 Air with the same specs.

A good website to get an overview of all the refurb prices, no matter if in stock or not is this one:

Thanks, Marvin. I know of that site (because of folks like you!). What I seem to see is that whether or not it's a 2013/2014, the base models or the like have additional discounts, and the more maxed out models (again, regardless of 2013/2014) have the refurb price, but no additional discounts. If it was just 2013 cheaper than 2014, I'd get that.

And yes, I'm trying to figure out the way best way to get the cheapest maxed out version...I have a bit of wiggle room timewise, because my computer is still doing a workhorse job, but I realize the writing is on the wall, so I'm doing all my research to be ready to make a purchase at the right time.

Thanks again for your reply!

Its worse than a kid waiting for Christmas.
I finally got the email the my MBA was at the store ready for pick up.
Due on the 30th when i ordered it on line in the Apple store and it arrived on the 27th. It came 99% charged and has been updating all night.
The thread claiming the Yosemite screen is washed out is wrong about this one. The screen is great. Plenty sharp with great contrast. The colors are verry rich.
