the display isn't its strong side, to say the least
Yes, but this also means that it doesn't need as much power for things to run smoothly.. hence better performance and battery life. So yeah, depends on how you look at it. If Apple decided to put retina in it before that major re-design those models would actually be less usable now... I mean, as it is, this thing can still do pretty much everything you might ask from an ultrabook and provide exceptional battery life.

So I ordered an i5 16GB and it wont ship until the first week of november. B&H has the one I want in stock. Buuuut Apple has already preauthorized my credit card. I wonder how long it'd take if I canceled the order for my money to go back to my card/limit. I am thinking, I should probably just wait for Apple, I just need this for class :(

I wouldn't buy from B&H. Stick with Apple; less headaches if you need to send it back for any reason.

I ordered a macbook air from Apple on October 13th, and the order has been in the Processing stage since then. The last day is supposed to be delivered is the 28th. Is apple normally like this?

I ordered on the 14th of Oct and it just flipped to Preparing for Shipment today. I ordered i5 Gold 16GB. Normally the custom build ones take a little while, but with COVID and demand, they are probably struggling to keep up.

I see this thread was started in October. Was there a MBA announcement then?

Last Monday I was going to buy the wife an MBA from Costco but was delayed. She's still using a mid-2012 MBP. I saw yesterday's announcement and last night ordered a Space Grey 256GB model with 16GB of RAM (she's not good about closing apps). It should ship around 11/17 (7 days) for arrival around 11/24. I was impressed with the performance of the last generation I almost bought. I'm curious if there will be a noticeable performance increase. Even if not, the increased battery life alone is enough of a boost.

Edit: The notification I mentioned was a USPS delivery, which I thought was odd. I looked at the details and it's shipping from Maryland so it must be AppleCare. I've since received a UPS notification that the MBA shipped and is scheduled to arrive Monday 11/16.

I'm glad that my IRS income tax refund arrived a few days ago. I really needed a new computer, so I ordered MBA Space Grey M1/512GB/16GB. It should arrive before December 4th. Looking forward to it.

That's the same spec I've just ordered although its looking like being a few days or up to a week later than yours!

I had originally ordered a Pro, but I can't justify the extra money - unless there's issues found during initial reviews, I genuinely don't know what need the 2 port MBP fulfils now.
all the 13 mbp does is give sustained perf, something the air can't do

I posted this over on the MBP thread by accident. I'm posting it here again because this is the correct place for this post:

I ordered the base config M1 MBA yesterday, 11/10/20. The current status is "Preparing for shipping" and ETA is: 11/17/20 - 11/18/20.

I can't wait to try it out!

I ordered the same base config MacBook Air and my shipment is showing up in UPS to be delivered Monday! I used my order number, less the last two numbers, in UPS track by reference.

Excited to see if this is equivalent to the 2020 base MBP I got in June, which I reluctantly ended up with after the 2020 Air was such a disappointment.
