Hope it's totally legit for your benefit. Just be careful if something seems too good to be true, especially on Ebay. 🤞

We shall see, and in the worst case I will reverse the charge on my card. Painful if it comes to that, of course, but you can’t make omelettes without breaking some eggs….

I’ll let you know if and when I take delivery of it, which is to say if it turns out to be a legitimate listing and not a scam. I would not voluntarily bring a scam listing to this group. Meanwhile, I’m getting ready to liquidate some of the vintage hardware, and especially memory, that I’ve accumulated over the years of upgrading and keeping my 5,1 alive. Apparently, elderly memory still has value. Who knew?

My M4 Pro Mini arrived a year and a half ago today. Little did I know that my configuration would very hard to get a year and a half later.

Just to close out the chapter on that hypothetical M4 sale above: the Ebay listing was indeed a scam. I have been able to recover my funds, the seller's account has been nuked for fraud, and all is well with the world once again. And the beat goes on.

Ordered the M6 Mac mini with 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD. It will replace my M2 Pro with 16GB. Delivery in the last week of September.

My M1 iMac's display died a couple of weeks ago. I bought a new Studio Display and had been wondering how long I'd have to manage with the iMac on the floor driving it until the Mini got revised. The answer: not long at all! M6/24/1TB on its way late September.
Just ordered a Mac Mini M6 32GB/1TB to replace my my Mac Mini M2 Pro with 16GB/1TB.
I just ordered the same machine - to replace my aging i7 mini.

The performance difference between the I7 and the M6 will be night and day. I noticed a big difference going from the I7 to the M4.

It should. After all, it is 8 years between the Intel Core i7 and Apple Silicon M6.
I tend to upgrade individual Mac machines every six to eight years; I am blown away every time.

Oh heck yes!
I went from a fully loaded, 32GB RAM, custom built i7 Mac Mini that was 4x price of the M1 Mini base and totally blown away by the M1 Mac Mini.
Night & day difference, not only faster, but no heating, no loud fans spinning up, and no more beach balls of waiting!
Since then I haven't looked back - M1 Studio is my daily driver and now I just upgraded to M5 Studio base using Apple Upgrade Lease program.

They've priced me out for now I think. I had entertained the thought of getting a Mini just to have a current desktop Mac as I'm only running an M4 MBP and old old Intel minis/iMacs, but it's not something I truly need. When Amazon was selling the M4 mini for like $450-$475 I should've jumped on it at that price, because for $900 I just cannot justify it anymore. The mini was filling a nice little spot there where it could be had for a very reasonable price, but no longer.
Of course the blame does not lie at Apple's feet in its entirety, just to make that clear. I may still buy a refurb M4 if the price is right, but I will probably have to hunt for deals at this stage, I think too many other people have the same thoughts as me. Right now there are absolutely zero Mac minis on the refurb store.

You should look at your current Mac resale prices.
I just did - my 4 year old M1 Studio I paid $1500 back in 2022 and now it's reselling for the SAME $ !!
With that appreciated older tech, I am able to effectively drop the price of my M5 preorder from $2500 to $1000 which translates to less than $10/month Apple lease or $40/month Apple Card or 24 month BT credit card at 0%.
