It's jaw dropping what a little powerhouse this thing is. Couldn't resist adding the 8GB RAM and bumping the SSD to 1TB to the basic box and having it all in one unit - and while Apple does get raspberries for what they charge, you gotta admit that having that extra all in one box is pretty slick.

.....and since it doesn't have that HDMI bug that plagued the last Intel version it's even more upgrade for me than would ordinarily be the case.

Incredible little box.......

Couldn't resist, been "agonizing" over this for a month plus now.
Really want a Studio M4 Max, or Ultra.
Can't wait that long, need something to work with now, old Frankenstein PC has finally died.
Instead of building another monstrous PC, I decided to change evils, and go with Mac.
Tired of the eternal windoze fight.

Arrives Jan 14 - Jan 22

Copycat. :D

I've been pretty happy with my M4 Pro with the same options. Only time I heard the fan was with a MacPorts install where a massive compile used most, if not all, of the P cores.

ordered a M4Mini base....allready in use......as a inbetween machine aslong i´m waiting. Plus will become my 2nd machine later. Waiting now for the M4 studio Max to come.

i din´t liked the heat situation with my M4pro.
The studio Max should be the better construct for sustained high loads. (audio work)

Ordered a Mac mini M4 16GB/512Gb for my dad. Estimated shipping 3rd Feb from a reseller I got a percentage discount and free shipping from.

I'm his primary end user support, and I got fed up trying to support him on a MacBook Air 2015(or 2017?) stuck on Mac OS 12 Monterey, while using it as a desktop.

Just purchased a Mac Mini 4. 24 Gb ram and 512 SSD. Can’t wait !!
For people that have them please post impressions. Thanks !!

Mac Mini M4 base bought! Not yet installed. I was also tempted by the base iMac, it comes with new mouse and keyboard and a gorgeous 24" 4.5K display, and has less cable clutter than a Mini.

Base Mini has only 256GB SSD versus 512GB HD in my 2011 Mini, this requires some thinking about how to deal with the smaller storage. The old Mini is backed up on Time Machine external HD. Most of the HD space on the old Mini is old music and movies that can mostly be put on an external drive.

I bought a little Anker USB-C hub that can connect to 4 x USB-A devices so I can connect some old USB-A devices such as USB mouse/keyboard/HD for system testing until I can decide on the final setup.

The old Mini still works pretty good. My only reason for buying a new machine is Safari and FireFox don't work properly with some websites, this is because Apple has not updated MacOS Sierra for a few years. My sarcastic thanks to Apple for the planned obsolescence! Potentially I can update to High Sierra and get more use out of the old Mini (now almost 14 years old).

Maybe after I use the new M4 Mini I will never want to use the old 2011 Mini again. I guess it can be connected to the big TV that I use for movie nights.

My refurb M4 is on its way, from Apple.com. B&H had it for usd$527 new for a few days then they punished me for waiting too long, well heck no order for you B&H !

My current Mac is an 11" 2010 Air but my senior's eyes can't deal with that small screen anymore, so a desktop is it. May end up with a 15" Air for my couch surfing activities, we will see.

I played with the idea of an iMac, it looks cool but I hate the non-removable power cord and the coolness doesn't justify the money when I already have a 23" monitor, PLUS DIY-upgrading the Mini M4 SSD looks easy and cheap.

Apple is known for selling expensive hardware but I always wait for a good deal and the Mini M4 basic is undisputed so. In 2010 I was in the market for an Ultrabook because until then I was Windows user and lo and behold in 2010 Apple had the Air under $1K, never heard off. Apple, suck me in. Still not paying $200 for 256G

How much does Apple charge for a refurbished M4?

Well am a little disappointed by the bulgy Black Apple Logo. Give me white, give me chrome, with me a "sunken" Apple so I can pour paint to my taste, I "painted" my gen4 Airport Station that way. Asking for a lit logo is too much I guess.

I ordered mine from the local Officeworks (a stationery supply chain), along with two iPads, just before Christmas, on a Friday. It took a whole TWO days to arrive. And those two days were Saturday and Sunday. What are they doing? Going home for the weekend? Whatever happened to instant gratification?

Anyway, it arrived.

And it is absolutely brilliant. It is three (count 3) times faster than my 2015 iMac. My typing speed has gone from 40 words/min up to 120.

Even more impressive is that I was able to set up Ubuntu Desktop and Windows 11 under VMware. Both virtual machines run over twice as fast as my son's PC gaming machine.

Will the tariffs affect the price of the mini M4 anytime soon?

The when is dependant on decisions made by gummint.
Some tariffs were applied as soon as the ship/plane landed.
Some will only be applied to goods on ships/planes that have left the country of origin after the tariff was announced.
Some will only be applied after a nominated date.

I don't know what rule applies to Apple's products.
Also, to make life more interesting, some manufacturers are shipping goods out of China to a nearby country with a lower tariff regime, such as Vietnam and then on-shipping them to the US.

Depending on what you want to buy, it might be cheaper to fly to, say, Australia or New Zealand for a weekend, buy what you want there, fly back to the US and pay the 10% tariff/duty on landing.

There is a new rule ... Computers, phones, other IT stuff is now exempt.

No, it's not.

Ahhh, the smell of a new car, that's what feels like buying an (almost) new computer. Pages pop up instantaneously, a job that calls for opening 20 tabs no problemo, swap file stays quietly zero. I can keep using my 2010 Air but what kind of living would that be? Enjoy our new toys folks!

I finally went ahead and ordered my M4 Pro Mac Mini tonight. I've been deliberating for quite a while on whether I wanted to get the M4 Pro Mac Mini or the base Mac Studio. I decided to go ahead and get it now before these horrible tariffs kick in.

I ended up going with the M4 Pro 14 core with 64GB RAM and 1TB SSD. I probably didn't need the 64GB of RAM (I'm upgrading from a 2019 i9 MacBook Pro with 64GB RAM), but I tend to keep my systems for at least 5 years so I figured I might as well (I was originally planning to get 48GB).
