I ordered a base mini. Then, before it shipped, I cancelled it. Why? Because my current desktop already has over 256GB of data. And because I had forgotten my rule of NEVER let the hard drive get much more than half full. Because who knows what I might need the space for. And also it slows down like crazy if it gets too full. Also, I like a virtual machine for Windows at my disposal.

Then, I realized that I FINALLY have 32GB in my desktop (see sig). Why would I go backwards? This is 2025 and AI loves ram. So I ordered the M4 Mini with 1TB and 32GB. Pricy little bastard. Doing the zero interest and 3% back with apple card.

Gonna test it to make sure it is quiet. And then we will see from there. Bummer is two weeks till I get it. That sucks.

Does Apple ever beat their shipping window? Mine's December 6-13.. I know B&H can do overnight delivery here, if they get their batch sooner, is it worth canceling the Apple order and going through them?

(highest core Pro chip, 48GB RAM, 512GB SSD)

They have been known to ship earlier. No guarantee ever.

I put my order in on 11/22 on the education site for a regular M4 16gb 512gb and it’s just sat at Processing ever since. The estimate is still at Dec 5-12, but it’s starting to feel like it’s going to take every one of those days. Half of me would cancel it and put through an upgrade to 24gb if it would just move faster…

December 3 and still in processing, doesn't look like I've lucked out.

Do they count as shipped when they leave the factory or is it after they reach the U.S.?

I have lots of time to overthink whether I should've upgraded to 64GB RAM and a 1TB SSD...

I ordered a M4 16gb 512gb on 11/29 from Costco to replace my i7 16gb 512gb. It is slated to arrive tomorrow. If all goes well, I plan on buying a base model for my daughter and use the i7 as a trade in.

M4 mini current shipping timelines certainly looks similar to iPhone release shipping/delivery dates. It's probably time to track the apple shipments. Feels like there will be a weekend flight coming from china with all our M4 minis we all ordered 😀

still in processing means they are working on your order to build it. Shipped is when they leave the factory.

I've got mine hooked up to a studio display. Love it so far. Base, but I ended up getting the 512GB simply to avoid having to add a 2nd drive at some point, as I use an SSD for Time Machine backups.

Right now I have my Beats Flex plugged into the front to recharge. I'm remembering now that Jobs never liked the aesthetics of front ports. They are very convenient.

Ordered an 10C/10C GPU/16G Unified Memory/256GB SSD mini from the Apple Store online on Monday-shipped out later that day via StarTrack and received at my place on Wednesday.

Did the online order in-store at Robina on a demo Mac as there wasn't any in stock out the back that day.

Trading in my M1 iMac for an M4 base model. My needs are simple. I have a 27" 4K monitor I use with my 4K Blu-ray player that I'll use with the Mini, so I've also ordered a 32" 4K monitor for the Blu-ray player (not needed but wanted). Both should be here before Christmas.

I am very excited. 1TB and 32GB.

Yesterday I ordered:
- Apple M4 Pro with 14‑core CPU, 20‑core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine
- 64GB unified memory
- 2TB SSD storage
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Mac Studio Display
Update….Mac Studio Display already arrived. Sitting on my desk now, next to my EizoCG2700S….doing nothing…because I have to wait for my Mac Mini to arrive. According to Apple December 16.

I am scared to look, but I will face my fear and check on the status of my new mac mini. Has it shipped? They say between the 12th and 19th. Guess when I want it :) Stupid stupid stupid Apple!

Well, I've had my base M4 Pro Mac mini for three weeks now and thought I'd share my experience.

I wasn't planning on getting it, as my original plan was to move to a new Mac Studio + M4 MacBook Air combination next year to replace my M1 MacBook Air + M1 Max 14-inch MacBook Pro combination I am using now.

But, the design and performance of the new mini was intriguing for me. With my M1 Max, I feel I overspent as I have never pushed it to its limits. I decided to try the base M4 Pro mini because it looked to be more than powerful enough for my needs and by the time I configured it to the spec I was thinking it was $2,000, which is the same price as the base Mac Studio.

I've moved completely from my M1 Max to the base M4 Pro mini as my main machine for these past three weeks, and haven't noticed a single slowdown. Even in graphics, as my M1 Max has the 24 core GPU, my mini works just as well. I was worried downgrading from 32GB to 24GB of RAM would cause me issues as I run VMs every day for work, but so far there have been no issues at all. I just allocate a little bit less RAM to my VMs and they run just fine.

The only time my memory pressure has gotten a little high was when I used Crossover to play a bit of Spiderman. Otherwise, everything has been fine. This is great news for me, as I really hate the extra CHF 400 Apple charges to move up to 48GB of RAM.

I got a 4TB external Crucial SSD for CHF 250 instead of the CHF 1,200 Apple charges and I'm good to go. Next, I will upgrade my M1 Air. I'm thinking next year to get an M4 or a refurb M3 and have a combination I think will work well for the next three or four years.

For my workflow, with the M series of chips and finally better RAM options, I don't feel the need to get such high spec Macs anymore.
