Just received my refurbished Mac Mini, settled for the 2011 model mainly because of the Radeon HD 6630M =). So far very happy with it.

Condition is brand new, I carefully looked for scratches and dents etc, found nothing of that nature. There was some dust in the internals, as well as the outside, but just cleaned it and It's brand new.

Installed a 128GB SSD :D. Hopefully I encounter no issue..

Finally a mac mini owner!!

So i finally own a mac mini!! I was given it free by a colleague at work as she know's i'm a bit of an apple freak, admittedly it's only a g5 1.25 with 512 ram and an 80gb hdd but i'm wondering if it would be good enough to run itunes to stream to my apple tv3? I think i need osx 10.5? Can anyone confirm this?

Got my base model mini on Wednesday. I like it! Also got a 23" Samsung monitor. I had a 2008 mini and a cheapo 19" Sceptre monitor.

I really like Mavericks and love how my iPhone, iPad , and Mini are able to sync via iCloud .

It's nice to see random surprises from all the purchases. I really wanted to wait for the update, but broke down and bought a refurbished 2.3 i7 today cause a bunch of new ones just hit the Apple Store. I'm mainly going to use it for HTPC related stuff, so nothing too crazy.

I am just now realizing this is going to be faster than my 2011 MBP, which I throw everything at. Should be a great upgrade from my 2009 mini's. :D

yeah, those things are really super fast, when it comes to CPU intensive tasks. Rivaling many older Mac pro's. and handily beating most new model iMac rMBP (13") and air's… the only reason to wait really is the supposed improvement of GPU performance that comes with Haswell, and the potential to be able to run a 4k TV from it… So, i'll wait :D until December that is, theni'm pulling the trigger :D

Totally agree... though, it'll still be a few years before I get a 4K TV, if I get one. By then, I'm sure a much more capable and affordable mini will be available as well. :)

hahahah, i just posted this same sentiment in another thread. The only thing that i'm waiting fore before i buy the mini is the new Spinpoint M9T drives… 2TB 2.5" 9.5mm ……

So as soon as i can get those online i'm buying the mini and screw Haswell. Plus i just bough a nice HDTV so not buying a 4K until they are much much cheaper..

Here goes!

So I ordered the Mac mini i5 this morning! It will be my first ever mac. I ordered the wireless keyboard, samsung 840 evo 120gb SSD but I'll stick with the RAM for now. Just couldn't sit around waiting for the new update anymore.

I will probably use it for Hobbies such as web dev, gaming, iTunes, media storage and browsing the web. Might boot camp windows on it too! Later I will upgrade to 8gb ram and Magic Mouse..

congrats. The only thing is that samsung ssd is costing you about as much as a apple 256 sad. also you really could use the ram upgrade sooner rather than later but you can buy that online for a lot less than apple. also, i have both a magic mouse and a magic trackpad, and i find the track pad more convenient to use (gesture control) so give that some thought.

Lastly, consider the new Spinpoint M9T when you start thinking about upgrading internal storage…

most importantly, enjoy your new toy :D

Does anyone know if the mini will support windows formatted hdds or is there a program to allow it?i want to say i had heard of something called paragon?

I never received the ssd in the post so I'm still waiting for it, although I have since decided to return it as I actually think the 5400rpm as standard is actually fast enough. It's never slow like it would be running windows. And I much prefer having 500gb, I've already used 60gb since I got it.

I'm currently using my spare 32" sony Bravia tv as a monitor and it works well, obviously not Thunderbolt Display quality but good enough.

I think I'll put the money towards the Magic Mouse or trackpad, although I thought the trackpad makes my fingers sore after a while so I think I would prefer the mouse. Also, I thought apple put a single 4gb stick of ram in the mini but it turned out I had 2x 2gb which means I have to pay more to upgrade to 8gb :( Apart from that I absolutely love the mini and it was amazed how easy it is to set up, didn't have to lift a finger and all my stuff appeared on it :D

You heard correctly Geoff. Google search for "Paragon NTFS" to get information from the source. I use the free version (limited) that Seagate specifies for use with their products. Since installation, Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X software has been a seamless solution for reading Windows formatted disks for this 2012 mini.

Eventually I will upgrade to their version 11 despite the fact that 9.5.5 works fine with Mavericks for me. Until that time, the USB port on my Seagate GoFlex drive provides write capability for non-Seagate NTFS drives when I need it.

does any one know if multiple simultaneous users would work better on a quad i7 (2012) than a dual i5 dGPU(2011)?

The trigger has been pulled!
The pistol has sounded…
The sound has been heard!
The flash has been seen…

The target will be hit in 5-10 days :D

BOOM!

I was weighing up the options of Samsung SSDs for my mbp late 2011 but i have seen benchmarks that don't give it much credit. It's a pretty solid drive out there but there are faster ones for the same kind of money.

uhm.. not really the case if you are speaking of the 840pro. the only thing fast than that is server grade and that $%^& is mega expensive…

soooo. my shiny new mini is arriving today :D

super stoked… i'll post some pics/tests when it gets here :D

sooo. i am typing this from my shiny new 2.6 i7 16gig Ram 256 SSD mini :D

the little guy is so unbelievably fast it blows my mind GB3 gave it a score of 12980 while running other apps :D BM gives me 410/510 with FV2 running....

no HDMI issues on a 50" LED TV...

Ran Grid 2 on mid settings at 1080p and its playable...

What a difference from the i5 MBP.....

I LOVE IT :D

Currently waiting for my refurbished i7 2.6 GHz 2012 model. I'll be upgrading to 16 GB of iRam RAM and a Seagate 600 series 240 GB SSD. She will be driving 2 ASUS 23" 1080p LED displays. She replaces my 2008 C2D iMac (also a refurb) which has been great to me the last 5 years.

Funny story - been an Apple fanboy for a long time. Still to this day have not bought a single computer from them brand new... 4 used laptops, 1 used iMac, 1 refurb iMac, 1 refurb mini, used iPhone 4 and 4S, even a used Airport Extreme in the house. Wife and I do have new iPads and I have a new iPhone 5 though. Hmmm maybe a little too obsessed.

I finally ordered my first ever Mac. I am extremely excited. I love Apple products and have been an avid iPhone and iPad user for several years.

I am getting the Mac Mini with 2.6 Quad Core i7 and the 1TB fusion drive. I only ordered it with 4GB of ram and will upgrade to 16GB myself. I also got the wireless keyboard and the trackpad. I already have a 30 inch monitor that I am not using.

Looking forward to being a part of these forums.

Cheers...
