I got my new MacBook Pro today, coming for a 13 inch MBA I am astounded by the display on this thing.

Went with the 15 inch, 16GB RAM 256GB SSD. I love it! The Force Touch trackpad feels so good! As I work in education I was able us the Back to School promotion to get the Beats Solo 2 headphones, I chose the black ones!

On Sunday I ordered a new MacBook Pro, 13 inch with 16GB RAM, 2.9GHz Intel i5, and 256GB SSD. Also got the free pair of Beats in black. This is my first ever Mac so I'm excited to get started. I have a bunch of Apple products and can't wait to see how the Macbook Pro fits in with the ecosystem!

I have had my 15" MBPr 16/512 for 4 days now, i had a early 2013 base model i sold, and also have a 1.2/512 rMB which i will sell. This new one absolutely flys. Not cheap in AUD $3147 with 10% discount, glad i can claim the gst tax 10% back too.

Managed to get a brand new/sealed 2015 13" rMBP on eBay (2.7/256GB/8GB) for AU$1285.60 (US$941), pretty excited!!

I recently purchased a refurb late 2014 Mac Mini off the Apple Store (2.8/1TB Fusion/8GB) so this will compliment it nicely. :)

It turned up today!!

Really enjoying it so far, the retina screen is glorious!!!

The Force Touch trackpad is sublime, I don't have any issues with it at all. The taptic engine feedback makes it feel like a 'real' trackpad. :)

It's lighter than I expected, very comfortable to use on your lap. Just doing some some software updates now!

Couldn't see myself waiting for Skylake any longer so decided to finally pull the trigger to purchase Macbook Pro 15' dGPU with my friend's teachers discount, hehe. Grabbed the Wireless Solo2 for additional $$ since its had much high praise.

The wireless do look nice so not sure if i should resell them for extra buck..

How much is the teachers discount compared to student discount?

Nice machine, the Retina displays are so beautiful!

I just bought an Early 2011 MacBook Pro 13" for $150 from my employer. It's in pretty much perfect condition, the battery still holds an excellent charge, and it comes with a docking station (unsure if I'll end up using that). 2.3GHz Core i5 dualcore, 16GB DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 3000, and the stock 320GB hard drive. Planning on purchasing a 250GB SSD for it (the 5400RPM hard drive is quite slow on Yosemite), although I'm tempted to splurge and get a 500GB, since I got the laptop for cheaper than I expected. So for likely $250 total with the SSD, I have a machine that is essentially identical to a brand new non-Retina model, other than a slightly weaker graphics chipset.

Base Mid-2015 MBPr just arrived today. Data and settings migrated and already working hard (just 6 hours after pickup).

Very early impression naturally, but what actually surprises me (positively) more than the gorgeous display, is that the machine is surprisingly cool in basic operations...

still loving my 2015 15 BUT maybe its just me I'm thinking the screen looks dimmer? than it was when i purchased it???

Have you got any pics from when you purchased it to compare to what it looks like now?

One of the things I first noticed on my rMPB was how dim the screen seemed to my existing PC monitors, but I adjusted pretty quickly.

At the moment I have the screen brightness 3 clicks down from maximum (using the F2 button) and it seems fine. :)

I did not take any pics :( maybe I've just become too used to the way it looks and am expecting more at times lol. There are times it is uncomfortably bright (darker rooms etc)

I pulled trigger on new rMBP, been very happy with my 15' Mid 2012 rMBP, 2.3 GHz i7, 256 GB, 8GB RAM, still a great machine; will use as back up and leave at home as desktop replacement for my purposes.

The new one to arrive today below, I will share some impressions....

2.5GHz Processor
512 GB Storage

  • 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
  • Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
  • 16GB 1600MHz memory
  • 512GB PCIe-based flash storage1
  • Intel Iris Pro Graphics
  • AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5 memory
  • Built-in battery (9 hours)2
  • Force Touch trackpad

I ordered a refurb 2013 MBPr 15" base model from apple online store and wondering if I should've ponied up for the 2015 version. I'm coming from a 2012 Mac mini 2.3 quad w/ 16 GB ram and an SSD kit I installed.

Depends on your budget

I'll be selling the Mac mini so this will be a desktop replacement. The new base model is just within the budget.
if it were me and i could afford it i would go with the 2015 version. I really do enjoy the force touch and the speed bump is worth it.

how much you pay?

I got my macbook pro 2015 refurb for £850

Not sure I did the whole disk speed test or not, images below. The new one is amazingly fast, I did not use migration assistant to set up new one and will play with more. Installs programs crazy fast...screen is better too. I'm very thankful...

I sold a early 2013 15" Base and have had the 2015 15" 16/512 for a week. Its a speed machine, very noticeable difference, and the track pad is great.
