i got the mac today, just reinstalling the OS... so far.. i haven't done anything with it, but we'll find out if I like it shortly..

Not to mention the POSIX-certified terminal experience with Hombrew and Cask. *shiver*

osx is all candy and beauty on the top, but there's a working man's machine at the bottom, which will make most workloads MUCH easier. You know, if you spend ten units of time learning how to save one unit of time :)

After eight years of virtually trouble free service, my Late 2008 15" MBP has started freezing a couple times a day. I ordered a refurbished 15" MBP Retina 2.8/512/16 and just received the FedEx tracking information. This is my first refurb and am confident that it was a good choice.

Update: As expected, the MBP looks brand new and set up through Time Machine with minimum hassles. Now, I've got to see if Apple makes an adapter to run the 27" Cinema Display power cable to the new MBP power cable.

Any MagSafe 1 to 2 adapter should do the trick.

Just got home from Micro Center with an official "Apple Refurbished" 2015 rMBP 13 2.9/512.

I was surprised to see these listed on the Micro Center website as official refurbs as I thought only Apple sold their refurbs.

The warranty is a full one year warranty.

I suspect that it is actually new and was never refurbed. The manufacture date is just 8 weeks ago and it came in a fully printed box - not a generic white box as I've seen some others referring to.

My guess is that this may be a way for Micro Center to sell off their own stock of the 2015 rMBPs at a discount while not getting afoul of any advertising rules that Apple has.

Price for the machine was $1499... about $30 less than Apple's refurb pricing and $300 off the new price.

Does anyone have any idea how to confirm whether Apple considers this to be a refurb or new product? I am not concerned either way as I have already checked the warranty date and I have the full year warranty I was promised.

Part of my gift for to myself for my birthday was getting myself a Mac. I ended up jumping on the Best Buy deal for a 15" Retina 2.2 i7/16GB/256.

I "justified" needing a Mac because I have DJ equipment that does not play nicely with Windows 10 (my other laptop). I currently have an external 1 TB WD HDD where I store all my music (I have multiple backups BTW) and everything runs flawlessly (so far).

Also, I'm a IT professional (MCSE certified) and administered and manage Windows systems for over 12 years. At my new job we have many Mac users that annoy me with their Mac only issues and their issues being part of a Windows domain. I might as well join the crowd and get a better understanding of OS X. Lots of nice things about OS X that I like out of the box and syncing with my iPhone is the icing.

I have also virtual box setup with a Windows 10 VM (configured with 4 CPU and 8 GB RAM!) that uses Microsoft Direct Access to automatically connect to my work's internal network remotely. Works pretty flawlessly too.

Overall very please with my purchase and I have drank the :apple: Juice and now part of the iSheep family. :)

On 13th May, I bought a MacBook Pro Retina, with 128GB SSD, and 8GB ram.
Never used or owned a MacBook before, so, yeah trying to get used to it.

I will say, the multiple 'Desktop' option is BRILLIANT. To be honest for a moment there I was getting a little frustrated with moving windows, just so I could 'see' things and move between applications. I've never been a fan of laptops, due to screen real estate. But, here comes the 'Desktop', and BOOM!

Try out some apps for managing windows. Breeze from app store is awesome. I use it all the time combined with SizeUP (using this one just for keyboard shortcuts to transfer windows between dual monitors).

jeez I'm late to this but early May I bought a used rMBP 15 inch, Mid 2012, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB ram, and 500GB SSD for $1,049.00 on EBay. I upgraded from the first unibody MBP 2008 HDD and this SSD absolutely blows it out the water. completely happy with my purchase.

Finally upgrading from my 2007 Santa Rosa MBP to a 13" cMBP 2.9 i7, 8GB RAM and 1TB SATA. Can't wait for it to arrive!

I am thinking hard if I should get a brand new rMBP 13" or a refurb one.
I am after the 512GB version but what troubles me is that the refurb don't come with 16GB RAM. Can I get an option from you guys if this is really necessary?
I generally use it for work (office tools), maybe photo edit with Photoshop and might use it for FileMaker or Lego mindstorm for kids.
I doubt I would bother waiting for the new release. But actually I only need it from Sep onwards but don't mind getting it early to do the necessary set up for my trip from Nov-16 to Jun-17.

Btw. I do own a 13" 2009 model but the battery is already dead.

Appreciate if you could kindly share your thoughts.

Last night I purchased a 2016 rMB in Space Grey.

Comes tomorrow.

I have decided to go back to studying at home part time whilst I work, and needed a computer to be able to do so.
I had a 2015 rMB last year when they came out but had to sell a load of stuff as I bought my first house so needed al the money I could get!

Now I'm settled I thought I'd take the plunge as it is light enough to be carried to the odd work shop I need to go to and work from, as well as being decent enough internally for my needs.

I love this MacBook. My sister has a gold one and I was always using hers after I moved out when I needed a laptop, so to have my own again will be sweet! And she gets hers back properly - which is a bonus for her seeing as it's hers :D ha.

Now just to pimp it out with accessories. Need a good case and some dongles / to make it fully functional with all my peripherals!

There's nothing like new tech!

I got a GREAT deal this last week for my wife through Quality Macs on eBay.

Purchased an Early 2010 13" MBP 2.4ghz, 4GB RAM, 160GB HDD in decent condition (no scratches on screen, keyboard in great condition, a few scratches on the case & a small dent) for $350! It's an older machine, yes...but I threw in a 480GB Crucial SSD and maxed out the RAM to 8GB and it's pretty snappy! Great for my wife and kiddos. It's not blowing up any Geekbench scores, but not bad for a family laptop.

Thought I'd share if there was anyone looking for a good deal. Quality Macs sells all kinds of used Macs...I'm impressed!

Hi guys. Anyone on here waiting for the UK back to school promotion to come out? There's a great education discount on the 15" MBP and I'm sorely tempted. New versions most likely not happening till October, I'm probably picking one up after WWDC (just in case). Any ideas when the UK back to school usually kicks in? Thanks.

Just wanted to brag:

I purchased a Z0RG0LL/A rMBP 15" mid 2015, 2.8 ghz, 512 gb, 16gb ram, open box from Bestbuy for about $1750~

Super happy about this, was ready to go in and purchase the 2.5 for $2500, or wait for a new rMBP announcement, and saw the open box. But could not pass this machine up with that price.

Everything 15" has gone out of stock at the usual discount retailers :-( I waited for WWDC to see if we heard anything about the replacements - Skylake isn't a big deal (10% speed bump), but Polaris might be, and there might be a 4K screen or some relaxation of the 16GB/1TB limits - as a photographer, both of those are constraining.

Instead of seeing new machines, what I saw was the top model of the old machine go from in stock everywhere at $400 off from B+H (etc.) to "nobody has any - the only option is the Apple Store at full price". I wonder if that is others giving up after the WWDC disappointment? There are refurbs about, and maybe that's the way to go?
